  1. Neat build, the yellow as brimstone looks really good and you've got some nice angles, particularly that first one!
  2. Ah... okay. I think I understand that, but I want to be extra sure. So, of course, if I replicate a building, I'm replicating it to some scale or another... but I may have no clue as to what that scale is. And I may not be super accurate in getting multiple buildings on one baseplate all to the exact same scale. Is that okay, or am I just overthinking this? Thanks!
  3. This is actually pretty funny. And really nice building, especially the stonework!
  4. You have a point about the bright blue... and TBH, I'm not exactly sure what kind of scenic context this house would have anyways! There's a good deal of grass there, but I really couldn't see it too far away from the next human habitation... Thanks!
  5. Not too long ago, a group of prospectors took a stab at a bit of Fuerte Unido terrain on Isla de la Victoria. They found silver and were eager to commence operations... but unfortunately that wasn't so easy. With all the excitement of the Marderian war, able-bodied men were scarce in Fuerte Unido in those days. And able-brained engineers were even scarcer... so this is what happened: Run! No use leaving a nugget behind though, if it comes quickly to hand! This build pretty well exhausted my supply of tan slopes... particularly inverted slopes. I left the top open mostly to let the light in for photography... you're welcome to assume that it's a cut out, or you can assume that that's the way the actual mine is. Whatever floats your boat. Fortunately, it looks like all five miners escaped. One last shot of the interior! Well, I finally got around to this... pretty enjoyable, though just because of the fact that it's a mine shaft I feel like there's so much detail that doesn't come across in the pictures! The crack in the side technique was pretty much borrowed from Captain Genaro (although my cracks aren't nearly as big or as numerous as his... I didn't have enough inverted slopes!). Fun stuff anyhow - C&C appreciated!
  6. Has a nice enchanted feel to it... especially that interior. Great job on the roof and nice work including stables and a garden!
  7. Great job SilentWolf, I really like the layers of grass! The mill looks good too, great work on the shape of the roof and neat use of Nexo Knight shield pieces for windows! The "horn" shrub is also cool!
  8. Wondering if my question got missed?
  9. Really nice build, great landscaping especially with the transition from dark orange/dark flesh into tan! The palm trees along the banks also look really good and so do the stalls and fort behind! I enjoyed scrolling through the other pictures!
  10. I'm glad you found it useful! That kind of roof is really nice as it looks good and is fairly simple and not too parts consuming, which is always a plus! Thank you! Light pastel colors are some of my favorite choices for cottage style walls - I think it brings in something of a fairytale setting. And of course vines are a must! Thanks Maestro! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Titus! The really neat thing about that technique is that it doesn't require too many specialized parts and gives you an opportunity to make good use of your basic bricks! Thank you Garmadon! I'll agree with you about the minifigure... that's such a nice torso!!
  11. Even the men of the merry green woods like a roof to get under every now and then! To be honest, this is actually a cottage that I built for a different MOC, but it was a little buried behind everything so I decided to give it it's own base! This is actually the second time I've used that technique for the tile wall... the first time is unpublished as yet. This time, however, I honed in on it considerably. Most of you experienced LEGO builders can see how it's done without even looking twice I'm sure, but for anyone else, or if you're just interested in seeing the process, you can check out a breakdown of the cottage here! It's been way too long since I've posted a build here... I've had a couple on my to-build list for quite a while but unfortunately that list just seems to keep getting longer and longer! But at least I managed to pull off something! Comments and critiques are appreciated!
  12. Personally I like the mirrorless cameras better... smaller, easier to handle and the one I have (Olympus O-MD E-M10) is just awesome. I have never regretted the ~$500 I spent on it! I'm pretty amateur myself, I will admit, so I'm not too up on all the technical benefits of one over the other, but I did do research into the differences when I was shopping and concluded that where the DSLR has an edge over the mirrorless is mainly in shooting moving subjects... not something as LEGO fans we're going to need too often, and I can speak from experience that my mirrorless does a very passable job for moving shots. (Actually only downside to it that I've noticed so far is that when shooting videos there's often a "camera noise" in the background, and I have no idea what the comparison to a DSLR would be for that. It's awesome when it comes to brightening the shadows of a picture... hardly any graininess!) For the bundles it's probably the lenses that are different - for LEGO photography you don't need a very fancy lens - shooting subjects are up close, so you don't need to be able to zoom excessively, and they're stationary, so you don't need a lens designed for taking sport pictures. What you do need, bundle or not, is a lens protector which I think is called a lens filter - so that if you scratch the lens you're scratching the protector, not the actual lens - and you'll need an SD card. But usually those are not very expensive on their own. In fact, you might want to look into buying outside a bundle - could be cheaper. Then again, maybe not. But I don't recommend relying on the pictures when it comes to looking at the product - go down to the specifications where it tells you exactly what's in the box. Of the two that you linked to, the cheaper one (by Ritz Camera) looks better to me - more GB on the memory sticks, extra batteries, and slightly cheaper. But I don't know how the quality of the extra accessories would compare.
  13. Amazing model, the functionality is pretty incredible, especially with the boom! Very accurate looking - and that's just plain a cool colorscheme!
  14. Great model, some tough curves here that you've pulled off really well!
  15. Wow! This is a fantastic model, spot on work with the curves, lovely chrome detailing, and those lights! Great work!
  16. Okay, I've read up on this topic and I think I got the idea of what belongs in this forum right... but just to be on the safe side before I post, would an architectural model such as the LEGO skyline sets - which aren't as far as I know built to a specific scale (at least, mine isn't!), but are obviously models of real-world-buildings - fit in this forum?
  17. Great ruined version, you achieved the same angles very nicely - it's easy to tell that it's the same building! As for the built house, it's just spectacular - fantastic texture and angles and the nooks and crannies are just awesome!
  18. Yeah, but the MRCA is pretty old so it could easily have taken place before that, I'd guess.
  19. Challenge accepted! Just kidding... well, we'll see!
  20. Great job Garmadon, that ship is really splendid, fantastic shape. The water is lovely too, and the diver concept is hilarious! Including a bit of an island gave this build some great context and you've got some neat action shots too!
  21. We've seen some pretty funny ideas for this category and here's another - very creative and well executed... although, it did take me a bit to figure it out! What's with the bubbles though? Some big fish down there... or is it a boiling sea? Either way, I wouldn't have jumped ship if I had been a Garvian! Speaking of Garvey, that flag on top of their ship looks really really good!
  22. Believe it or not, I've done smaller!
