  1. There's definitely a lot to like about this build, some really well done Tudor and the narrow, tall, closely built houses feel very period appropriate. The street also feels busy and crowded but on the other hand that make sit harder tot ell what is going on with the street, which is a pity because I think you've got a neat slope on the far side there! The entire creation though has a MOC-ified classic air to it which is really good!
  2. The blue works so well here! And really good work with the roofs too, I quite like the change from brown to med. flesh.
  3. Excellent choice of colors for this MOC, orange and dark orange go so well with the tan and flesh of the ground! Impressive job with the roof too, you managed to get the messy feel without losing the round shape. The only thing I see to criticize is the brown of the base... it just doesn't feel like the right color of dirt to be under tan and flesh, and besides, it's visually confusing to use the same shade of brown for dirt and wood in the same MOC. But otherwise, this is a real fun build!
  4. Great continuation of the goat series, I love how this build screams Kaliphin, but still uses some innovative techniques (those window arches are top notch and great use of curve slopes on top of the walls) and has a pretty unique layout too. The white room and green vine add just the touch of color this MOC needs. And as HQ said, good work combining a variety of ground colors without making it look unrealistically messy!
  5. I really like the round section of the wall here, it helps break up the texture and is a great use of those car top pieces!
  6. I love the little teapot birdie! Great bustling market scene, really nice work incorporating a wide variety of arches. And way to go with seven builds!
  7. The oasis you built here looks very refreshing, the second picture especially looks inviting! I think I like the green for the cliff, but I'm not so sure about the rather flat and dark waterfall... I always have thought (especially after building a few ) that narrow cliffs that exist merely for the purpose of building a waterfall were a little strange. Is the waterfall curving? If so that's a really great idea, but I wish we didn't have the unsightly gaps. But the tall palms are beautiful and I really like the little tree (shrub by the side of the palms!) on top of the cliff, both the roots hanging in the water and the use of double feathers make it look really suitable to the surroundings!
  8. I think we need some fishies but the octopus peeping out is great!
  9. Thanks SK! Was fun to mix SNOT and studs-up in a landscape more than I usually do! Thank you!
  10. Thanks Gabe! That's got to be one of my favorite shots too, even though it leaves out the minifigure.
  11. This is just fantastic Gabe, top-notch brick sculpting on your part! The figure itself is stellar, what with the color combination on the torso, the natural looking bandana, the sail wrapped around his waist - but then you've got so much more going on here, with a beautiful WIP horse, great stool, and the bench of tools is spot on!
  12. Yay for more pigs! I really like that gear over the blacksmith's, creative detail! And I enjoy all the minifigures too, makes the scene look quite bustling. Mophet is becoming a pretty prosperous town!
  13. Looks like a rather crazy place to live! Good choice with the grill pieces, and way to go nailing the architecture style. I do wish we could see fewer exposed studs on the ground, but I understand the limitations with the wedge plates there.
  14. Great aquarium, the bright colors are wonderful and so is your creative parts use! Neat base too, very elaborate. But my favorite part is probably the trans-light blue tube on top!
  15. Late to the party, but figured I'd throw my two cents into the pile. And though I love EB, I do have a life and wasn't able to read all six pages - but I did skim. I'm pretty active on EB (check it multiple times every weekday) but only in my select forums - Brethren of the Brick Seas (RPG) and Guilds of Historica (RPG) - and related. Used to participate actively in Andromeda's Gates (though I slacked off, due partly to a lack of time, partly to the breakneck pace, partly to the crude jokes) before it ended, not sure yet if I'll be around for AG2. And maybe this will inspire me to keep up with the History and Pirates forums - truth is, I'd like to see the MOCs there, but not interested in the collector aspect. I could weed those out of my stream though. I guess I've just been lazy when it comes to viewing/commenting on those MOCs. That'll have to change. Side note that touches on some discussion here: it is definitely discouraging to post a MOC and not receive any or receive very little and very brief feedback. That seems to happen a lot outside of RPGs. I've posted some builds that I was pretty happy with in other forums and received almost no feedback (on the other hand, I have to credit the City Forum readers for their kind reception of my MOCs!). But maybe I'm part of the problem. I invest my time commenting on RPG MOCs, and not on hardly anything else (except those that get frontpaged), so I shouldn't be surprised when my non-RPG MOCs face the same fate. Front-paging more MOCs might help alert others like me to the great quality of MOCs outside RPGs? What first drew me to EB (about 6 years ago now - how time flies!) was the contests, which I heard about on another site. As a just-starting MOCer, they really fired my imagination and I was thrilled to eventually win some smaller stuff. I do miss those fun small contests, especially the themed months. They created a great sort of flash-community feeling - speaking for myself at least, I have always been motivated to comment on other MOCs for a contest (or a RPG) that I participate in (though I'm not so motivated to comment on "random" MOCs), partly as a give-back-what-I-get (or hope to get), partly because I admire or want to encourage my competition. At first, I followed the main threads of the themes I was interested in (mostly Ninjago), but soon dropped that as I got a clearer idea of what I really wanted for my LEGO hobby. With pages and pages of discussion that really doesn't interest me, I don't have time or inclination to follow those and get my news about new sets elsewhere, or on the front-page. Would you like to see more contests? Yes, especially small ones. Even though I'm a pretty decent MOCer now, and fairly confident that I could now and then win a larger scale contest, there are plenty of those out there already, more than I have time to build for, with amazing prizes and prompt delivery of results (and prizes). Small vignette contests with polybag prizes is what I suggest. I loved the minifigure ones (though I wish/ed entries were posted in individual threads so I could comment more thoroughly!). What is your opinion of Tags (those small images on the left <---)? Love 'em. Got too many of 'em already though, and two or three more that I've had to say good-bye to. *sniff* Wish I could have more. Do you use, if ever, Eurobricks reference materials (ie. lists of Reviews, lists of MOCS, lists of Forums)? Nope. I often check out the reviews that are front-paged, if its a theme or product that I'm interested in, and do I find them helpful, among the best out there for an in depth non-video based look at a set. As an almost-gold member of the Reviewers Academy I have often wished to get over the last hump of my ninth review but I'm uninspired and then Flickr suddenly capped photo limit so I gotta go reformat all my old reviews before they become obsolete... *sniff again* ...but that is kind of a private rant. Have you participated in games on Eurobricks (ie. Role-Playing, Mafia, etc.)? Yes. Basically, that's why I'm still active on EB. I'm a MOCer, not a collector. I'm not interested in hearing all about the themes. And there seem to be comparatively few MOCs posted outside the Roleplaying games... or I'm too lazy to weed them out, whatever. Do you use/visit the Eurobricks Facebook page? Eurobricks on Flickr? etc. I add many of my MOCs to the EB Flickr group but almost never check the group page. Do you post MOCs online? What hosting platform do you prefer to use? I use Flickr. That may change, at least for part of my photos (alt. views). Do you prefer broadly defined threads or multiple specialized threads? N/A, really. MOC threads, and the specific broad threads necessary for RPGs are about all I'm interested in. What is the first page you visit when opening Eurobricks on your browser? I use the handy activity stream option to customize and view what's new since my last visit in BoBS and GoH. In the future, I think I'll change that to include new topics from Pirates and History. Anyways, "Kai NRG's Stream" is what I always open. And I get notifications whenever a new topic gets front-paged (by following the front-page forum), so I follow that fairly closely. A couple other miscellaneous thoughts based on the above discussion: Forum updates haven't bothered me much. But I like having new buttons to poke into. I got used to the latest one pretty fast, didn't deter me from posting even a day, honestly. Whatever may be the case elsewhere, RPGs are still a community stronghold for EB, with lots of constructive criticism for MOCs (especially in GoH, which has been experiencing quite a revival lately), friendly banter, and a group of members who "know" each other but are still welcoming to newbies.
  16. I love that water! @TheLordOfBricks is right that it's a little confusing close-up when the final MOC is done I can tell it's going to look fantastic. I'm not big on the olive though. Doesn't look like the right sort of stuff to be growing on wet rock.
  17. This is a really neat ultra-textured build, you're getting better and better at the style! Some neat part usages too, such as the hat chimney and mailbox!
  18. The landscape here is really impressive, in part because of the colors but also in part because of the subtle slope. Great posing on the ferocious beasts (are they called wargs or something?), they really look ready to lunge!
  19. Really solid MOC, great stonework and roofing! The waterwheel itself is also well done, and adding a bit of color to the landscape with the dark red and orange leaves was a good idea!
  20. Thanks! From the builders point of view, these are some of the most rewarding builds if they can be pulled off, since the final photographed product is so different from what you've been seeing the whole time. Thanks LJ! Yes, three of 'em actually! In fact they looked so good with the magenta flowers inside them (speaking of which, you can't really see that in any of these pictures... well that was an oversight on my part!) that I intend to use the combination again as soon as possible! Thank you! I try to avoid using brown for dirt and wood in the same creation... although, after all, I didn't use normal brown for dirt in this creation anyways, but I was contemplating it. haha In the case of this MOC, the angle didn't matter so much as you can't see what immediately abuts the only angled wall anyways, but that's definitely a useful bonus to the free floating technique! And as far as the cheese slopes go, it was mostly an is-that-really-all-the-2x2-round-tiles-I-have?? reaction - had to eke them out with something. Adding an extra layer to all the round pieces was a pain though. Well no, actually, the pain was taking it off afterwards.
  21. This is a pretty amazing MOC, the dome is a real eye catcher and so is the mosaic in the interior! Great job making it modular, and neat use of some unique gold pieces like those Chima swords. I also really like the pillars and arches!
  22. Another lovely interior HQ, great job on the windows again and the fireplace and the light set the ambiance of the build very nicely. The rafters look splendid, and I also really like the built in bookshelves! Great chairs too, the look comfortable but also elegant. One note though - while the lighting is very effective, it might have been nice to see the shadows lightened just a touch in some of the pictures; I feel like in real life, if you were in a room lit by afternoon sun, you'd be able to see into the corners (and the fronts of people standing against the light) a little better... your eyes would adjust to it in a way they can't on a computer screen. Good caveat because if I had noticed I would have pointed that out. Although I probably wouldn't have noticed, it's hard to see especially given the light coming in from the windows!
  23. Thanks! That sounds like such fun, I begin to regret not living in Kaliphlin myself just so I could set up one of these things! Thanks Henjin! I got a few bricks last time I placed a Bricklink order with this color combination in mind, so it was great to have a relatively small MOC to test it out on! Wait a second... I was almost sure I had gotten the color combo from you! Let's see... it was your Winter Serenity build - ah, I see my memory was rather at fault as to the order of the colors, but that was where it struck me that light yellow, tan, and dark tan really go! Though to be sure, what with mine being a desert scene and all, I made a rather different application. But thanks, and I'd love to see you try it on a larger scale! Thanks Grover! I do think it might just possibly make more sense to go from dark tan to tan to light yellow... but that would require a lot more light yellow than I possess...
  24. Super cool combination of dark red and brown vines creeping out of the dark orange @Elostirion!
  25. Very fun way to present this from the gardener's point of view, and a magnificent build! Great work including lots of shields smoothly in the walls, and the canopied throne area plus the elaborate floor are both fantastic. I also really like the tapestries and the braziers, not to mention the stained glass round window up above the dais! Definitely an honor to be part of a collab producing builds like this!
