Thanks! Actually the hat also came with the CMF Lederhosen Guy, which I have. But that feather is great, I want one!

There's for sure a lot to like about this MOC, the dark orange cliff for instance (the brown vine pieces look great there!), the impressive slant with the grass, and your magnificent flock of gulls! The grey rockwork is a little gappy and unfinished - I like the shape out on top toward the boat though and it provides a nice backdrop in terms of color for several of your close-ups. It does seem somewhat geologically strange to have dark orange and light grey lining up vertically like that. And I think the brightness is a touch too high on the overview particularly, it kind of washes the gulls out. But you did a really nice job with the overall layout of this build, the height variation really makes it enjoyable to look at!

Yes, that's the perfect vertical angle for this build I think, I'd just play around with the zoom/crop and the horizontal angle.

Book III - Varlyrio: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
For me that's what it is, I'm fairly active in that community. Obviously I could continue to comment/see other's builds without posting more of my own, but as I've built up a significant following I'd hate to just walk away from posting my own, especially to somewhere like Bricksafe which doesn't have anything like the same following options. -
Book III - Varlyrio: Guild sign-up and Discussion

That's basically how I'm starting to do it, though it is quite a pain to update old posts with new links. Have you just finally admitted that you built some lame builds way back when?? Wow, never thought I'd live to see the day. -
For your last build I wasn't sure which color roof I liked better; this one I'm pretty certain I'm in favor of the black. Adds some refreshing contrast, and so does the bright green (not that the other version isn't top-notch as well!). As I said on Flickr, the chicken boxes are simple but super effective, I may want to borrow that design!

You're really putting this style to some good use, I like the way it looks here with the serious overhang off the stone part of the building. The pillars with 1x1 plates interspersed look surprisingly good, giving the house a touch of ornateness without seeming out of place. I do agree with @The Stad though, they might have made more sense directly under the tudor style corners. Great job with the snow on the ground, the bits on the roof are a little less convincing to me but as I see snow pretty infrequently too I'm not going to express my opinion on whether the snow should maybe be more at the ridge line. I feel like it might melt before it slid off, but I'm not at all sure. Do I spy a lime green feather of the thin kind? Where may that be from? And on the subject of curiosities, where's the medium flesh broom from? Looks great against the brown of the balcony.

I really like what you've got going with those stone pillars! Great job giving them a weathered look that seems very Mitgardian at the same time. Great job on the furnishings of the room too... candlesticks and the bear stand out especially. From the higher angles the floor looks a little too gappy especially when you take into account the completely different texture of the mosaic. @Garmadon may be on to something with the idea of building the mosaic right into the cracked floor, but an easier solution might be to try some lower angle close-ups.

Thanks Henjin! I think the brown ones are considerably older, although I have more of them. Good point about the outfit, I've always had mixed opinions about using that in a medieval setting. That's a great idea with the reversal of colors for the wall. A lack of sand green jumpers would have made that slightly tricky, but not impossible... I may have to try it sometime. Thanks!

I really like the way the 2x2 three-sided slopes look at the base of the lower level towers looks here! The shields also work great at the base of the second tower. I'm not sure about the combination of trees as the pink flower trees and the green ones seem to be pretty different scales, but the pink ones are pretty! Great little village at the bottom too!

I'm with pombe also, a week makes a MOC old in some forums at some times; in other forums, a three week old MOC is almost new.

Thanks, I knew it was the perfect face when I spotted it!

It almost looks like it's attached to the door, I was thinking it might be some novel form of a door latch.

Neat little cottage, I love the chicken coop and great work on the roof, the in-and-out on top looks really good. Great compact interior too!

Congratulations to @LittleJohn, @adde51, @Gideon, @pombe, @Gabe, and @Kai NRG (yeah that's me) for 18 days of Kaliphlin MOCs! I hope all you other guilds enjoyed the building streak, and I have to say that I was blown away by the quality of some of my fellow collaborator's builds! Great job guys, way to put Kaliphlin back on the scoreboard. Day 1: Juz'albieta Farm Day 2: Qarkyr Box Gardens Day 3: Spice Merchant Day 4: Mophet Stable Day 5: Daily Tasks Day 6: Ha'ri the Potter Day 7: Swineherding in Wadi Khinz'ir Day 8: Peddler Day 9: Mophet Guard Tower Day 10: Royal Dance Day 11: Priestess Day 12: Mophet Blacksmith and Armory Day 13: Sculptor Day 14: Wahah Oaisis Day 15: Mophet Market Day 16: Wahall's Goat Farm Day 17: Glass Workshop in Barqa Day 18: Cleanup And a note to those Kaliphlinians who weren't included in the collab - this has been in the works since August 17th, and I invited a couple more builders early September. So @Muakhah especially, you joined Kaliphlin a little late for us to include you in the plan but just so you know, we weren't intentionally leaving you out and would love to have you on board another time.

Yeah, I haven't built much this year - I was away from my bricks for several months. Hopefully I can pick back up more next year! I don't know what the official LEGO name for the color is, but Bricklink calls it yellowish green. Thanks!

Thanks Grover! It's a pretty handy wheel, very medieval-looking. The light aqua (what little there is of it) is actually on the ground. Thanks! Thanks adde! Thank you! Yep, that's a normal jumper.

It's pretty hard to pick a favorite between this and your other version, I like the lighter roof colors here and the extra minifigure activity. I left most of my comments on the build itself on the other version; but I am wondering why the string coming out from over the window is attached to the wall (?) instead of dangling loose? Great hanging sign though!

This is a fantastic build, I really like the contrast between the studs-up texture of the tudor section and the studs-out texture of the stone first floor. Great job on the dirt pathway too, it looks very right for this build! I also think the green around the building looks great, for some reason I don't think we see that color green used like this too often! The part of the building sticking out with three windows is super well done, although I would have left the black tile overlapping the others on the roof at an angle, brown, like it was in other build. But I agree that the palm trees are great, they give the building a sense of context and a contrasting color that helps it pop!

It's not a glove, it's a hand that's been stuck in slime. Thanks!

Let's face it... not all jobs are glamorous, even in Kaliphlin. I enjoyed getting to use my sand green profile bricks on this build! Also a bit of light aqua. If you'd like to see the full build, there's a behind the scenes picture here. C&C welcome! This rounds out the Kaliphlin at Work collab, I hope you enjoyed getting to see more of the everyday life of our awesome guild!

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 17: Glass Workshop in Barqa
Kai NRG replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
The lighting of this is just so good! I also really like the round oven aperture and the arches on the walls. So glad you could participate in the collab!- 18 replies
