  1. This is such a brilliant concept and very well executed too! I really like the round roofs, they make the tavern really stand out! Great quantity of seagulls too!
  2. Great technique to get the pagoda look! The insets, cheese roofs, and round tower sections are all well done!
  3. Now this is a gate that's going to be recognizable even to the most architecturally unlettered native! Great use of light yellow and white, and the onion domes work much better than I would have expected!
  4. Tremendous job with the lighting here! This build turned out really neat, perfect amount of detail and really impressive chimney. As I said on Flickr, the bellows look great too. The chains add a nice touch!
  5. Wow! This is a fantastic build, strangely enough the fact that it's microscale actually makes it look massive, the nanofigures are so small! Lovely dome, curve on the end of the roof, and flying buttresses! I also really like the subtle slope on the dark grey foundation. Great job!
  6. This is a fantastic interior, great background to begin with (especially the arch!) but also a whole bunch of detail. I particularly like the grindstone and sword holder built with A plates! Nice low angle shots too!
  7. Great to see the progression here. Excellent build and I wish that wheelbarrow wheel came in brown!
  8. Keep in mind that in a forum like this, words replace expressions. If we were all sitting in a room, most people would probably not vocally express their opinion on a simple/trivial question not geared toward them, because their face would answer anyone who wanted their opinion well enough. But here if you want to say something you have to say it, and sometimes it's hard to tell if someone's posting a casual comment or a firmly cherished opinion. Yeah, it's basically pointless for us (at least those of us who aren't in leadership, some of the opinionaters have been leaders) to express our opinions. But if it actually bothers you, then PM is the best way around that, since a public message is always liable to a public response. If not, let us waste our breath, who cares?
  9. I raise my voice as an opponent to all exceptions. Most of the time. If Elostirion gets this, Guy's Uncle may have something to say about it.
  10. @Mesabi Thanks for reminding me of the real important things. New Years Resolutions are right around the corner... maybe I'll get back to what this game is all about...
  11. Thank you! Thanks man, as they say, imitation is the highest type of flattery! Thanks Garmadon! Hem! I wonder who you might be talking about... Oh yes, the white L bars - I didn't figure that out mathematically myself, just stuck whatever fit in the gaps.
  12. This is a great idea, nicely executed with the bright jungle colors!
  13. Well... the category is kind of geared towards an inside explanation of how the Queen is plotting (if she's plotting...). So I'm not sure plotting against the Queen would make a whole lot of sense in the context. But if you have a specific idea, feel free to run it by us!
  14. The denseness of these plants is great. Looking forward to that factory!
  15. Love the 3/4 circle around the entrance! Looks very mysterious and dangerous with those circling stairs behind...
  16. This is a great build, simple but elegant architecture and the lattice area is really nice! Makes for some great minifigure shots!
  17. You're definitely on a roll! Not sure why, but those 1x1 light grey tiles for the pathway really catch my eye - not something I've seen too often, usually it's round tiles or larger squares, but this looks really good! I also really like the "dummies," dark tan works super well!
  18. This looks like a refreshingly cool and jolly scene! Great job making the snow look natural, I think you did an especially good job around the low stone wall.
  19. The offset on this fort is very effective! I also really like the way you broke into the SNOT base with some looser sand on the left. Good job blending the olive and tan with some darker and smoother tan in between! The palm trees are a little more confusing for me though, with one almost directly behind the other in this shot. Maybe a slightly different bend on one or the other would have helped it to look less like one palm tree with branches in the middle and on top.
  20. Whoa! Stunning job making this look real! A plate built with sideways building might have been a small improvement, but this is a beautifully well composed shot. Are these actual bricks in their actual colors? If so, I didn't know there were dark blue inverted dome pieces or tiled slopes in medium flesh (or whatever that color is, I never seem to have the nomenclature right!).
  21. His EB username is @MassEditor.
  22. Thanks zoth! I can't exactly take all the credit for it, I saw someone else on Flickr do something similar (but with the white dragon bowls). Thanks! Thank you! It's two bowls - one just rests on the other so it's a little delicate. Thanks Exetrius!
  23. I really like the raised ledge around the walls of this room - did you get that from actual medieval architecture or is it something you came up with on your own? It's definitely effective for letting us get a good look at the furniture/details that are up against the wall! Brown pillars against the dark brown wall also look great!
  24. Kaliphlin Talk A Prelude for Challenge II of Book III Everyone who has ever been to a Kaliphlin bazaar knows that there is no better place to hear, share, or deplore the latest news. Word had trickled down to Al Karazin, merchant of miscellany, that a trader in Petraea had heard his Avalonian wheat contact say that his cousin’s lord had a nephew who was guard in the royal palace of Cedrica and overheard the Queen’s council mention a need for celebration. This second hand information three times removed was now being dispersed with liberal additions throughout the small Kaliphlin markets of Qarkyr. Queen Ylspeth was throwing a grand banquet – at Petraea, or possibly Queenscross, at which ostrich races were to be held, bears were to dance, and Avalonian wheat was to feed the guests. Most likely the banquet was to celebrate her engagement, said one. Ere long a third issued a definite pronouncement: there was to be a banquet in honor of the Queen’s wedding. Enterprising artists invested in white and black paint. Meanwhile, at Al Karazin's stall, the discussion stayed within slightly more reasonable bounds. "Is what I hear true - that there is to be a celebration of the Queen's return in Cedrica?" a customer asked. "I suspect, rather, that there are to be celebrations throughout the guilds. I had it from the guard of the Queen's chamber that such was the advice of a certain Nerbli, or Nervli - a foreigner from the land of the Queen's sojourn." "A foreigner! Our Queen taking advice of a foreigner? Credit me, the statement must be false," interrupted a second man. "Foreigners can give good advice at times," the woman retorted, remembering the Varlyrian doctor whose advice had saved her babe's life. "I don't give a fig for a foreigner," a young voice cut across from the other end of the stall, "but I'm all for the celebrations. Nothing has been doing in this slow guild since the glorious Desert King squelched opposition. I'm spoiling for a fight!" "Have a care what you say, young man!" the merchant's assistant interrupted. "The Desert King has squelched no one save his own spineless followers who are too scared to think for themselves!" "Celebrations?" mused a new voice. "Food is needed, food and housing, for many hurt in the wars. But belike the Queen has thought of that already. Celebrations may be a good thing. But where do they come from... and why?" And so the divided opinions of Kaliphlin talk on... I've had this canopy sitting around for a while and am glad to put it to use with this build! Filling the stall was a bit painstaking, but also fun. C&C welcome!
  25. Good point! That should go down on my to-do list. I'll definitely want to wait until we have more outstanding builds, but it sure would help make my final job easier if I keep tabs on builds as they're being posted!
