[MMC] Merrynight Celebration in Jameston
Kai NRG replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a great build, the flags and minifigures really give it a festive air! Good choice of color for the shutters and the macaroni tiles give the tudor part of the building a distinctive look! -
The new integration of the paw looks much better! Great job!
-
Great use of droid heads for bowls! The slope arches also look really good, as does the angled tiling on the wall. Neat curve on the tree trunk too!

[MCTC: Salida Este] Home for the Holidays
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks Professor! The door was such a pain, I'm glad you noticed it. Thank you! I tried to go with dark blue for the roof but didn't have enough corner slopes. Black seemed to work fairly well though! Thanks Bodi! Thanks! Well, maybe slightly on my part (trust me to sign myself up for half a dozen building projects at the same time) but Capt Wolf and Elosterion didn't (and possibly don't?) know anything about the Kaliphlin collab. I just wish I had yellowish green headlight bricks for the 1x1 rounded tooth tiles. Thank you! Look out for some more light colored buildings in the future! Thanks Bart!- 11 replies

Was that posted somewhere already? If so, I apologize, I just missed it. That sounds like a good way to handle it. Well... you might want some DBs or dead pirates for your pains...

I agree here, especially given the public nature of an AMRCA which means (it would seem to me) that black flaggers could simply abandon the hideout long before enough AMRCA turns have been taken to find it. I think ideally a hideout hunt would be a quick, one-two turn find it or don't find it, smash it or don't smash it, proposition. Of course potentially it could work that way with an AMRCA, but if so I would suggest putting some definite rules down, such as "hideout hunts only last max. two turns" with maybe a 50/50 chance of finding it and then a 40/60 chance of destroying it each turn and throw some MOCs into the bargain (of course that's overly simplified). Otherwise, given the lengthy nature of AMRCAs, people are likely to shy away from tying up ships in a hunt of this sort.

Ah okay. I thought that was an awful lot of double cheese.

This is an awesome addition, hoping to see some great builds and action coming out of this!

Yet another superb interior! I'm not even sure where to begin - the guild banners are so simple, but elegantly done with one color longer than the other, and excellent use of macaroni tiles above the throne! Impressive double arches above the windows and even more impressive warm lighting behind the exits, lovely blend of color coming through the stained glass windows, and great parts use for the glass jars on the table! Keep these great halls coming, each one seems to be better than the last! Oh, great job on the story too, fascinating read!

Great vig, the fence around the plot of land looks great and the twisted trunks of the little trees are very effective!- 9 replies

Settlement: Salida Este, Ferro Azure, Eslandola
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A new medium residence in Salida Este: -
Although many think of Salida Este as a frontier town, expanding MCTC commerce has begun to convert the tiny settlement into a wealthy metropolis. Middle-class Eslandians, staking their savings on one bold venture, have moved in and are establishing not only a center of business, but a city with a culture all its own. The Hillier family, just recently arrived in Salida Este, are happy to move into their new house in time for the holidays. A reckless sea captain turned sensible merchant with a handy ability to do almost any work, Mr. Hillier is confident of his ability to succeed in this new world. Mr. Hillier Sr. goes where his son goes, happy anywhere he can bring his library. Miss Hillier's correspondence was well known for the beauty of its calligraphy and the vacuity of its content in the old world, and Salida Este correspondents are finding her no less devoid of solecisms and originality. Long time butler, man servant, and jack-of-all-trades to the family, Aryan finds that the toughest part of the rough new life falls on him. Mrs. Hillier may have been second rank (possibly third or fourth) back in Eslandola, but here in the colonies, she has a reputation to maintain and maintain it she will, with the aid of Pussy-dinkum. Cutler Hillier - or buddy as he is better known - is one of the most accomplished jokers this side of Gotham. Watch yourself and your possessions carefully if he's within three miles! This is my first build for the "new" Salida Este - hope you enjoy it! I had a great time trying out some new color combinations. Putting my new stash of cool green to use was an amazing feeling. C&C welcome!

Poor guard, looks like he wants to be in on the boat building! This is a great little vig, effective use of tiles to show the trampled ground. I only wish there were a few transparent tiles on the floor to give the boat and dock a bit of context. But the sparse trees look surprisingly good in this setting!
-
Nice lighting on the first build here and impressive interior for the second - as I said on Flickr the cheese look great for the wall! The height is magnificent too. And the third MOC is a worthy follow-up, great panoramic view and the colors of the houses are well chosen. Good job on the little gondola also! Enjoyed the story as well!

I sunk! Again! Other than that, this is one of the best KPAs, great job with the organization and recapping the latest BoBS news!

Thanks Gideon! Actually you may be ahead of the times... I got the wheel from a 2006 Knights Kingdom set, and it hasn't appeared since then!

[MCTC: Salida Este] Textile Factory
Kai NRG replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is really a great build Capt, if I mistake not one of the largest we've seen from you. As Fraunces said, there's a certain beauty about it which makes it a very unique factory! The arches look so distinctive and the yellow is an excellent choice! And we have an interior too... this has definitely got to be one of your best land based creations!- 15 replies

Thanks Gideon! Yeah, not the best choice of outfit... That spider is huge, practically head-sized. But then, LEGO apples are almost head size too. Thanks!
-
No, I was talking about the dark green forester's hat - both the Lederhosen Guy and Green Arrow have that: Thanks! Actually the hat also came with the CMF Lederhosen Guy, which I have. But that feather is great, I want one! I checked on BL for the feather and it only listed that set. I think Brickset gets their inventories from LEGO but there are gaps for certain things, I'm guessing CMFs are one of those.

Recognized this build instantly. Great take on my brother's creation, I think you did a much better job making the 1x1 round lime plates look like they belong, in fact they look impressively good on the right. The minifigures are excellent and the pigsty area is a neat addition!

Oh, no problem, I'm not rushing off to buy one, just thought I might keep an eye out for it. I can never keep the oranges and dark fleshes straight. Had no idea that broom mold was so old!
