  1. This just looks solid! I'd hate to have to try to batter these walls down. Great color scheme with the dark and light grey, having one in front of the other really makes them both pop. Nice angles too, they make for a visually interesting layout!
  2. The best part about this is those chimneys, hands down. Nice low angle roof design too. Makes the buildings look relatively small, until you look at the minifigure.
  3. I'll be an echo... great tree! Looks very lush and droopy and I can almost hear the wind through it.
  4. Esterhazy nodded his agreement to the murmured concern that seemed to originate at the Sea of Storm's delegation's bench. "Indeed. It would be a pity to have to implement an additional tax on money transferred out of an account but that may be the way to go. Perhaps a 1% tax on money transferred to any non-Eslandian person or entity? Of course anyone not willing to contribute to the Eslandian government is welcome to find another place to stash their cash but not while still keeping the other benefits of being an Eslandian citizen." Captain Argentum began to mutter under his mustache. "1% won't cut the mustard, Troir! There'd still be plenty of incentive for penny pinchers to transfer outta this here grand nation if they didn't need the booty back for more'n one turn!"
  5. Very realistic looking gallows, a seemingly simple build but nicely done!
  6. So this is not meant to propose a tax on what comes into your account one month to the next. This would be the government requiring you to give 1% of whatever is in your account at the end of a turn. Not the difference between one turn and the last turn, nor the total income as calculated from properties, transactions, and MRCA. It's not exactly a wealth tax because it does not take into account assets (too complicated under this system) but it's not an income tax.
  7. Before voting on the proposal, Captain Argentum stood up from the MCTC bench and turned deferentially toward Lady Cantoni. "If the TCs were smashings together of their members' treasure, then it'd make sense not to skim off no 1% from them, since that'd be like taxing members twice. But TCs own lots of stuff themselves and I dunno about the rest of 'em, but we sure don't pay no direct dividends to our members, tho we do make sharing schemes easier. If we decided not to tax the TCs nohow, that'd be what you may call a leaking plank and TC members could stash their doubloons in their TC and avoid them taxes. Besides, my mate Fernando or whoever else is figureheading for this creaky ship of a nation 'd be missin' out on a hunk of shiny booty that TCs make from ships and plantations and factories and other such land-lubbers' concerns. I vote aye to my fellow MCTC-er's unamended suggestion." Chef Jalape nodded his head. "Aye!" "Aye." Esterhazy added. Three ayes to the 1% tax proposal from the MCTC bench. OOC: Exempting TCs is too great a benefit for TC members and leaves way too many options for tax evasion. We're proposing taxing bank accounts as they rest at the end of a turn,* so if a TC has a sharing scheme and/or is paying dividends to members, those dividends won't get taxed in the TCs' account, they'll get taxed when they make it to the members' account (so as long as a TC is prompt in paying every turn, foreigner's dividends will be exempt from tax). The only case in which they might get taxed twice would be if they were left in the TC's account for an extra turn. But if we don't tax TCs, it becomes advantageous for members to stash their DBs in the TC bank account and only take them out the month they're needed by the player. It's the same loophole we thought we might have had to face with the Bank of Corrington. *remember that all property returns (and upkeep) are now scheduled by MRCA turns - so this is not a monthly tax, it's also scheduled by MRCA turns
  8. After waiting a bit to allow for discussion, Esterhazy rose. "Since there doesn't seem to be much excitement regarding the Adminus' proposal, I'd like to make a counter proposal... I suggest a 1% flat tax on all Eslandian accounts, levied every turn."
  9. First picture isn't showing up from me, but based on Elos' example, this is a really nice beach MOC, I like the combination of curved and sloping light tan plates and the bit of rock with vegetation on top adds some great visual interest! Great squad of recruits too!
  10. Is that squares of six grill tiles for the forge floor? Looks great!
  11. This is a magnificent build, great use of color and the design of the base is also really good!
  12. Ooh, great cloaked mysterious characters! As I said on Flickr, the height of the buildings really helps the alleyway feel. I just think you maybe needed a touch more in the way of trash, some clothes hanging across the street or something. But impressive job on the uneven street!
  13. A really nice color combination, very much in keeping with the Salida Este spirit! I really like your sign too, and the other details like the bench, monkey, and raised rows in the garden!
  14. Great simple, classic style, neat idea to leave a vacant square between the sides of the house! Gives the house some nice architectural interest, and somehow despite the lack of a roof over the back square it still looks fine!
  15. Well done, great absurd contraption and the dialogue is hilarious!
  16. Great concept here! Really nice job executing it too, lots of neat arches (the half arch with the barrel is actually quite eye catching despite being comparatively simple; great asymmetric design) and the whole canal section is very well done. And I really like the way you incorporated the vegetation on top of the round sections of the canal wall!
  17. Wonderfully detailed MOC, the roofs in particular are beautiful! The sand red is pretty beautiful too. Great use of the new plant pieces and the lighting adds a lot to the whole build. So many great bits too - the little statue niche, the fruit vendor, the arched entry into the alley...
  18. Really good dwarven architecture, I especially like the use of pizza and tooth tiles on either side of the door. Where is that ram shield from?
  19. Great job on the hanging wreaths, a fairly simple way to achieve them but also pretty brilliant! The whole scene looks nice and festive.
  20. Yeah, I'm here. Why? Oh! we had had a proposal. Right, missed that somehow! Of course as a TC rep I think it's an awful proposal. Seriously though, I'm interested in hearing what others think - you won't catch me seconding it though. I think it's liable to be slightly skewed, after all the benefits of the fort are for everyone that owns property in a settlement (including owning ships that touch at the settlement) which to me means that everyone should take a share in paying for the defense.
  21. The trees are definitely the highlights here, they look great and set a really good fantasy tone for the vig!
  22. A great first GoH MOC, good job on the arch in particular and on the irregular base too!
  23. Where'd those clay colored bowls come from? They're awesome. Nice repeating pattern around the top, especially the offsets look good!
  24. Very nice build, great use of those olive snakes in with the vegetation!
  25. Great job on the coffee plant, looks very visually appealing with the hints of red between the leaves! The rest of the build looks really nice too, I especially like the small porch, looks very appropriate for the climate!
