These are some sweet troops! Love those dual molded dark green dark brown legs, and the landscape is also really well done with some unique color choices too--great use of the more orangish colors for the pathway, I don't think I've seen that in a snowy landscape before!

Very impressed by the smooth hull shape of this ship. She looks lovely from all angles!

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Kai NRG replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
If you paste text "as plain text" (Ctr + Shift + V) that should avoid the white background. But sometimes you'll want to keep formatting such as links, in that case there's really no good solution. Yep, another way to remove formatting, but again, removes all formatting including links you may want. -
As they say... why pay to have someone find out your family tree? Just go into politics and your rivals will do it for free!

This is lovely, very autumnal. The flowers on the ground work great for a thick leaf cover. -

You have some fascinating filler brick colors. That hut is really cool, a little gappy but that works perfect for that kind of hut. Nice design for the horse bridle too! --and the birch trees on an olive floor look lovely as always. -

Really nice patterns on the courtyard floor, especially the circle around the fountain! -
Thanks everyone! Thanks Lord Dan! I hadn't thought about the style here being cartoony but you're totally right, it is! That's fun, I like doing clean lined, bright color builds a lot, so I will have to be more intentional about it being cartoony next time! haha, don't be intimidated, go for it! Thanks so much! Of course, you are right... there are no instructions, the video is very "real," I just build in that sequence. Although I do sometimes get lazy and don't change the battery right when it dies, so there are some gaps (such as all the tiles on the outside). I'm really glad to hear how much you enjoy the stop motion. I know some builders do reverse stop motion when they deconstruct their MOCs, but I always thought it would be more fun to see the back and forth of deciding what piece goes where and the real order a MOC gets built in--usually not the deconstruction order! So it's great to hear that others appreciate this less "edited" approach! Thanks Blufiji! Yes, getting that roof sturdy was tough! Looking forward to seeing yours! And I'd love to see you reuse my sunflowers. In case it's not obvious, the top and bottom aren't actually attached--what I did was sandwich one leaf (top) between two leaves (bottom). Pretty sturdy actually but not a very "official" technique Thanks Captain! That took me by surprise, but thanks to whoever was responsible for that too!

The agricultural zone of Kaliphlin may be small compared to its massive desert, but it's one of the most populous regions due to the easy availability of food. An enterprising miller has recently constructed this large mill to harness the power of the wind for grinding the region's grain. I wanted to try something with a function and a windmill seemed to hit the sweet spot of being a little complicated, but not too much for a first attempt. There's more to this than first meets the eye though. Of course the sail spin, but the whole roof can also rotate in order to catch wind coming from any angle. Here's the back of the windmill with the sails turned to the right. I had fun adding little details like sunflowers and wheat sacks. The stone base technique is also a variant on those blocks that I used for my Fighting Pit! The real challenges of the mechanism are inside of course. Connecting the vertical shaft to the horizontal (slightly angled) sails would have been pretty difficult but fortunately I remembered this worm piece which has a unique combination of an axle hole but no friction. That way the roof can be removed and replaced easily. So the whole thing is designed to come apart into these three pieces, the base with the interior, the walls, and the roof. I did a time lapse for this build just like for my Fighting Pit--and I also put it on LEGO Ideas if you'd like to support it! And as usual there are more pictures on my blog if you'd like a closer look! Hope you've enjoyed this creation, feels good to have another large build for the guilds again. I took a pretty long hiatus before the Fighting Pit I know, but hopefully there'll be more coming this year! C&C welcome! Thanks for checking it out!

Very cool idea to take these categories and turn them into a vigentte story! I especially like the dragon cave--hard to beat those golden banana eyes!

What a neat tree, the trunk curve is especially well done!

Great cutaway ship segment! Makes for some really nice forced perspective, though I agree with Khorne that if the ship had extended a little farther to the end of the picture it would have been even more immersive!

Thanks Mike! That's good to hear anytime! -
Thanks everyone! I'm glad the azure was a hit. haha, I felt tempted to edit a nice swirly portal in behind that archway! This is Salida Este right, so any color fits! Yes, the dark blue swirly piece is actually called a "minifigure pedestal" by BrickLink. They came in some of the recent Ninjago sets.

Putting the castle behind this was such a fun idea Makes for a great backdrop! Love the variety of masks too.

Characters: Timmy (black tricorne) Jimmy (tan tricorne) Count Lewisham (hopefully obvious) *drumroll please!* Go back and read the drumroll! How dare you skip it! It's a critical prelude to the most important announcement of all the announcements that were supposed to be made last year but weren't made until this year: Count Lewisham, the Salida Este magnate you've never heard of, is running for Admius Legistrad of Eslandola's Colonial Council! Jimmy: Come one, come all! Come see the great, the magnificent, Count Lewisham, candidate for AL of the mighty Eslandola! Count Lewisham promises to raise taxes if you want them raised and to lower them if you want them lowered! Timmy: Count Lewisham promises to faithfully represent his constituents. Jimmy: Isn't that just what I said. Count Lewisham continues to stroll through the arch in dignified silence. Jimmy: Count Lewisham promises free handouts to those who want welfare and more defense spending to those who want warfare! Timmy: Count Lewisham promises to improve the economic and national security of the country. Jimmy: Isn't that just what I said. Count Lewisham stops in the middle of the archway in dignified silence. Jimmy: Count Lewisham promises to keep foreigners out of Eslandola except for the ones he lets in! Timmy: Count Lewisham promises to have a caring foreign policy. Jimmy: Isn't that just what I said. Count Lewisham continues his walk in a dignified silence. Jimmy: Count Lewisham promises to maintain global peace with everyone except for the people he goes to war with! Timmy: Count Lewisham promises to have a wise foreign policy. Jimmy: Isn't that just what I said. Count Lewisham decides to speed up his walk in dignified silence and get away from onlookers as fast as possible. All right! This is my official "run" for the Sea of Thieves seat in the Colonial Council as well as Admius Legistrad. Come January 31st, vote Count Lewisham! He's just what everyone wants! As for the build, that was inspired by Bart de Dobbelaer's recent use of azure. Was fun to use those new swirly minifigure stand things as water fountains too! C&C welcome!

I have a tulip I could trade you for that! Very funny idea -
A magnificent castle! It's very well laid out--you have definitely got the knack of building up to a peak at the back and it's very eye catching! The interior is also very cool, especially the library! But the river is my favorite part... it looks so blue and watery and the horn technique is perfect!
-
I think I said on Flickr that I loved the combination of red and dark blue--anyways, I certainly do! Very bandit-y looking fort too, and the three different sizes of towers is great! for the UoP credits!

You really go all out on this photography thing... that's a serious set up there! Very cool with the lights. Makes for some gorgeous minifigures shots. The entire MOC is great, with a very effective layout and loads of detail--the sigils on the walls being some of my favorite parts! Intriguing story too, I wonder where this is going!

Great trees, nice combination of black border and overflowing dirt! I love your large log technique too, gotta see if I have enough of those to try it out!

[Freebuild] Hunting the blue woolly eel (Anguilla galidoris)
Kai NRG replied to Eyrezer's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is super cool, love that eel design! Your way of using bright colors really works perfectly for an underwater MOC like this, great variety and great layout for the colors too with the blues climbing one side, reds on the other, and green echoing top and bottom.- 7 replies

Very impressed that you managed to squeeze a full interior into this, it's so tiny I never expected that! Great job on the roofs here and as I said on Flickr, the trees are perfect, love the left one especially.
