  1. Lovely little vig, the lighting is great and so is the woodwork. Nice variety of poses to accompany the story too!
  2. Ahh... is the Order getting into Eslandian politics? Now why would they do that... Great dialogue, nice little vig to accompany it too. The chameleons posing is great!
  3. Fun take on the King's party--and some great minifigures! The guy with the ruff is especially cool!
  4. These blocky knights are really cool, I love the helmet design especially. Great job on the ogre's head too! +1 for the UoP credits!
  5. This is a great vignette to round out the story, from the cute little rat on the sand dunes at the bottom, to the crown on the forestman's hat, to the spike on top of the flag! Really neat blend of colors on the tower as I said on Flickr, and so many great level variations with all those brackets and stuff!
  6. Impressive how much this looks like a minifigure sized house despite being tiny! I do like the sand green here, I admit, and the half bridge is great too.
  7. I kind of like how you've developed a sort of Valyrian style with all these weird colors... though usually I could do without the sand green. The coral does look quite nice here (and goes well with dark green) and I absolutely love the lavender over the arch!
  8. I'll definitely have to make time to read the full story but for now, just commenting on a few of the builds--great patterns throughout this one, and the arch and door are both super good. Lots of good colors in this one too, they make it really interesting to look at.
  9. This rockwork is very cave-like, the cones especially sell that. I love the sparkling shrooms and the fall really pops against all the grey and dark green.
  10. Black rowboats?! I don't remember ever seeing that before. I love how you turned it over. Very nice secret beach for your erm... merchants. But what's happening next? Is this idyllic life going to end? I feel sorry for the Marquis already...
  11. These minfigures are so detailed, very cool! And squirrel!! Nice use of brown lifesavers in the tree too.
  12. Well, this is totally not a building that will make you stop and stare for fifteen minutes when you walk past it on the street... What crazy bold colors and yet they look soo good. Great stuff!
  13. Thanks Professor! We had to go out with a bang! Thank you! Thanks Captain! Fixed the link. Well, it's kinda messy around the outside, so I'll have to build something else to display. Thanks NOD! Already it begins! I have to say, while I'm totally on King Fernando's side, I'm glad there's someone who appreciates the Count a bit, he is my character after all. Just about! Thank you! Thanks Spud! Yeah, this was some fun FP with the three different scales!
  14. This is really neat, love the use of rarer colors like olive and light nougat. The grill tiles also work very well for this style of hut!
  15. The recreation of the old set is great--everything has grown up, especially the palm tree. Are the fish from the hole in the middle of the island freshwater fish?
  16. BrickNerd is running a contest with a piratical flair, probably would be hard to make a BoBS build out of it but the prizes are worth trying for in their own right, thought some of you might be interested!
  17. Kai NRG, Garmadon and Captain Braunsfeld proudly present: The story so far: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 You are here: Chapter 13: The Duel Dr. Thaum's first act in launching the "Winds of Change" operation was to send a lemon tree to Nova Terreli. This lemon tree stood on the dock, guarded by a toucan, who is either a stuffed toucan, or else a very very calm one, for he never moves. "That blame lemon tree," a sailor said one day as he walked by. "It 'a bin here losing chlorophyll for nigh on a fortnight. I shouldn't wonder if it meant something important, now. I'll roll this here barrel slow's I kin, to see what comes of it." "That lemon tree!" his companion scoffed. "That lemon tree don't mean nothing. But d'ye see the crate next to it? As I'm a broke man with nary a pnence to call my own, that there's a Gwuinee!" "That's just a furry animal, a rabbit most like." "It's a Gwuinee," the sailor said, furiously, "and if you exchange it for 3 peaches, which are worth 5 eggs, with which you will obtain 5 chickens then exchange them for 4 rabbits and so 2 piglets. Raise the piglets in 2 plumpy pigs and sold them for a calf which is to be raised as a well-fed steer, all this good beef meat is worth about 50 Gwuinees which are barely 25 golden pnounds... and you largely got your expense back." "I don't believe that," the first sailor (who is the one with the red nightcap, a fiery supporter of King Fernando as the nightcap goes to show), "not a bit of it. Gwuinees is all a scam. King Fernando, now he's the one to run a nation's economy!" The sailor in a blue coat (also a King Fernando supporter, but easily swayed by Pnence and Pnounds or lemon trees or really anything that came his way), said, "But where is King Fernando? He's been gone for months, and meanwhile the economy is going to the dogs with Count Lewisham in charge. Why, the Count is just spending and running up the deficit in every direction. Fools there be who are hoodwinked by his programs and cheer after him in the streets, but--" "Hist!" red nghtcap said. "It's the Count himself!" The sailor in the blue coat cheered excitedly. "Less bread! More taxes!" he shouted. The Count smiled benignantly, but whether at the cheers or at the lemon tree it was hard to tell. "Fools who cheer the count, indeed," the sailor in the nightcap said indignantly, but in a low voice. "You're the worst of the lot. Ah, if only King Fernando knew what was going on, he'd do something heroic and save the colonies, I'm sure!" Just then from behind a crate there jumped a stranger, a black cloaked man with a muff around his chin and a big black felt hat shading his face. "Defend yourself!" this stranger cried. Count Lewisham immediately threw himself into a fencing pose. From behind the crates a sister of Emmelyne Punkharst looked on attentively between sips of tea and bites of cherry pie. For a few seconds all you could hear was the clashing of thin metal swords as the two duelists battled along the pier. Then, as the onlookers recognized the stranger in the black cloak, you could hear their shouts and screams. "Hurrah for the King! Long live King Fernando!" or "Fernando is a lunatic, not fit for the throne! Long live Count Lewisham!" or "Madness in this heat!" and other things like that. But the duel went on, no one daring to interfere, not even when the toucan nearly had it's nose sliced off. Finally, in a brilliant piece of strategy, King Fernando tossed the nightcap he'd been holding all along onto the point of Count Lewisham's sword. Unbalanced, the Count toppled over, and King Fernando rushed forward with sword uplifted. But just then an umbrella got in his way, and a familiar deep voice grunted, "The man is in debt, King Fernando. Your sword's too good for him. I shall take him to the nearest palm tree." King Fernando lowered his sword. "Hang him good and tight, old friend," he said. "That scoundrel would have taken over the colonies, who knows for what nefarious purposes?" The King clapped his sword back under his arm and walked away with a calm sense of having saved the day. But the air was a-quiver with a wild mix of cheers and hisses. And as the news of the duel spread through Nova Terreli, everyone formed their own opinions. Was the King a tyrant trying to oust the people's elected governor? Was he a hero protecting the empire from the schemes of a low politician? Or was he just a crazy old man with a sword? What will the people of Eslandola do now? A few more shots of the dock scene: In case you've been wondering where @Garmadon comes into this whole storyline, this is it. He built the ugly houses (I'll leave you to figure out which ones those are), the mountains, the fort, most of the water, and the front walkway. Unlike our previous collabs, we built around each other and didn't split down the middle. But like our previous collabs, we procrastinated and ended up building the whole thing in four days. This MOC was inspired by this bit of concept art. There's a lot going on behind the scenes here that you can't really see, so check out the post on my blog if you'd like to see more of it! We kind of wanted this to be THE Nova Terreli docks scene... in general, I'm happy with how it turned out, but photographing it was frustrating as it was impossible to get the perfect angle. C&C welcome! Hopefully you've enjoyed this storyline and are ready for the next stage of Eslandian craziness... coming soon!
  18. Buying lemons with Gwuinees seems strangely fitting. I love your curvy beach by the way!
  19. The smoky tavern idea is really neat. I'm not sure I've seen anyone try to do that in LEGO before! Also I love the Pirates of the Caribbean reference.
  20. The forced perspective here is perfect, it really makes you feel like you're at the scene.
  21. The fight has just gotten real! Oh wait, is that tea and cakes? More please!
  22. The orange here is great, really works well with the tan. Nice lettering too.
  23. So fun that you built interiors for all these buildings, the tavern interior is my favorite with that boat roof and the shields on the walls! The whole MOC is of course really cool, I love how classic viking it all is--the roofs especially! Also on the landscaping, the way the green slopes over the cliffs is really fantastic. A great MOC, way to return with a bang!
  24. Oh my, this is even funnier than I expected it would be. I see some worthless tulips growing like weeds in the background too. We want Pnence! We want Pnounds!
  25. Welcome back! Great to see you building again!
