  1. Very pretty little vig, the cacti look great and the little skeleton there is really cool!
  2. Yes - even if you buy from another player you still have to pay the difference between the license and the extra fee. (Though in fact I'm not sure how you're supposed to pay that, presumably through a transaction form.) 4A. ---- On another note - The Golden Snake (helped) take a 5A! Don't mess with my merchants! Though, apart from that, she did rather poorly.
  3. Intrigue indeed... will the king have his way? ... A very nice build, the stained class window looks fantastic! And the sand green and white go very well together. Great work!
  4. It is there, under the squatter settlement section. Sea Rats always establish squatter settlements.
  5. We (well, not me, personally but the technically savvy among us) are actually working hard behind the scenes to make everything automatic. When that's done, everyone should be able to easily see what's going on with your account. Until then (hopefully just in a matter of a week or so) please be patient! There will be a new form for upgrading. At least there is supposed to be. We also have a function where you can check what licenses you have applied for but I'm not sure yet if that is completely ready to go so it hasn't been released yet.
  6. I rounded up. One extra DB won't hurt me none, won't make you rich neither!
  7. Great build LJ, I really like the light colors you've used here, and that dome is great! Lots of nice techniques too - the cheese on the white building, the angled wall - keep it up!
  8. Actually.... April Fools! Stop counting minifigures. That is the only April fools joke, however. The rest is for real. For those of you who fell for it, however, we will reward you with the DBs you "earned". (Obviously that does not include myself as I didn't really fall for it. ) The query tool (whatever that is, I had never heard of it before) has not been released yet. Behind the scenes we are working on making everything automatic. Once that is complete, it should be possible to release a viewable version of the sheets so players can find statistics easily. Just noticed that I missed this before... not that it matters now... but anyways, if you were using another player's character it wouldn't have counted (because the other person would have used it first), but since the crew members don't technically have characters (that is, they aren't supposed to be the same person) they would have counted.
  9. Yep. Sorry about that. 92 minifigs in my builds so far, times 0.15 = 13.8, but we'll say 14, right?
  10. Ska is the final authority, much though Garmadon would like to be considered as such.
  11. Didn't anyone notice the whoppingly large Market Square I just did? Minifigs, minifigs! Not yet, actually I wasn't positive all was ready on the technical end and didn't have all the right links. No, animals do not count as people.
  12. Of course previous builds count! Umm... umm... yeah. Leadership will have to get back to you on that when we stop laughing. Who needs names and backstories? Of course!
  13. Good morning, Brethren of the Brick Seas! Gather round! It has frequently been brought to our attention that the rules are rather complicated and not always straightforward. We have attempted to remedy that by a thorough edit of the rule topics. The following topics have been edited: Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Rules Thread Conflict Resolution The Economic Game System (EGS) By Land - Maps and Properties in the EGS By Sea - Ships and The Monthly Raiding and Commerce Action in the EGS Most of these threads have undergone revision only with minimal actual rule changes. We have introduced a few new features: Settlement Up-date The settlement rules have undergone an pretty large update that will hopefully prove agreeable. Check those out here. New Property Categories! Two new categories, Art and Culture and Education, have been added! Check them out here. Special Effects For Commerce, Eslandians pay 20% less for licensing and earn 20% on yield. Corries pay 20% less for licensing and earn 20% more on yield for any educational facility. Oleanders pay 20% less for licensing and earn 20% more on yield for any Art and Culture property. Sea Rats earn an extra 30% yield on Artisan businesses. New Free-build System The first two freebuilds a month will earn a builder 10 DBs per build, the next two earn 5 DBs, and any more freebuilds during the same month will earn the builder 2 DBs. No more approvals (but do keep on approving those last few March free-builds). Master Index This is not new, of course, but it seems not everyone is aware that there is a Master Index pinned up here. Use it! Trust me, it's very handy. Population And finally, an improvement we are all very excited about! We're sure you'll love this latest addition to the world of BoBS. Every minifigure you use in a build is worth 0.15 DBs, creditable to the builder. Simple! Minifigures used more than once (such as your sig-fig) may only be registered once. Use the new Minifigure Registration Form to register your minifigures. For those of you who are severely backlogged, you may post in this topic with the total quantity the non-duplicated minifigures you have used in your MOCs, multiplied by 0.15. We hope to introduce the Character Advancement and Skill Trees soonish along with MRCA v.2. Lastly, congratulations to our new Pirate Regulator, Skaforhire! Hopefully you all enjoy this rewrite as much as I enjoyed making it... oh wait... hopefully you enjoy it a lot more than I enjoyed making it. Leave your questions or comments below! EDIT: Strikeout the April Fool's Population items.
  14. An unfair advantage for lucky players? Well, everyone has the same "chance" to be "lucky." I'd say the other way around is an unfair advantage for unlucky players, more like! If you want to stay safe, get back on dry ground, landlubber!
  15. I really like the simple clean lines of this build, and the gold and green highlight it nicely. The red roof is great too, and I'm actually rather surprised that the jail door there doesn't look out of place at all! from leadership.
  16. Yes. @Maxim, since your other ship was a shared ship I don't think it violates the rules... though, actually, that's kind of a tough one to handle, because shared ships should count for something but it would hardly be fair if they counted for a full ship. I don't think these basic rules will be changing though there may be some other tweaks to go along with the new MRCA system coming soon. As far as insurance goes, there are no plans for large scale insurance. MCTC provides insurance to its members for its shared ships, but I think that's the only sort of insurance there is out there.
  17. If you capture a MOCed ship, you certainly capture both the ship and the license. That being the case, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense (at all) for the original owner to be able to license a sister ship. However, we will await Ska's final decision on the topic. Whether ships captured by NPCs should disappear from the game (so that a sister ship can be licensed) or not is a trickier question; we wouldn't want active ships lying around doing nothing but it doesn't make much sense for them to disappear; however, we could theoretically say that NPCs always condemn their captured ships. Negotiation with the person who captured your ship is certainly an option. In the long run, of course, if your ship is captured, you lost out. Which, of course, is how it should be... we can't win 'em all.
  18. April will be the start date for the new rules... but hold your horses for a bit while we finish getting everything ready.
  19. Official announcement coming soon, guys.
  20. The blue roof works really well here, great bell too and I like the stained glass!
  21. Very nice architecture here with the windows and rooftop! Nice to see Bardo expand! from leadership.
  22. Very nice introductory vig, I really like the wall but the furniture and chimney are great as well!
  23. This is my fourth free-build this month, and I am Eslandian. No sooner had Guy and his Uncle landed in Bardo, than they headed off to see the new house Guy's Uncle had arranged. To say the least, it wasn't quite what Guy had expected. "What's this?" "Your new house." "What?!?" "Your new house." "You've got to be kidding me." "Well, nephew, step in!" Guy's Uncle pulled back the leaves covering the entrance. "As a house warming gift - a turkey dinner!" Guy just gaped at the opening as Elaine stepped out to welcome him. "What on earth is going on here, Aunt?" "What? - haven't you realized yet? It's April Fools!" "April Fools! I should have known. Goodness, Uncle, did you take a ship all the way back to Terreli just for an April Fools joke?!: "Never can pass up on a good one." Guy glanced at Elaine, who smiled and shrugged. "Well!" Uncle ejaculated. "Let's start up on that pie!" Later: "So... I'm ready to see my real house now." "Real house? Oh. We don't have that yet." "What?" Elaine smiled. "You're young. You can camp out." "Uh... what about you two?" "We're staying over with the mayor," Guy's Uncle replied. "Speaking of which," Elaine added, "we had better head on over. Aren't we supposed to be there for a rear supper at eight o'clock?" "Indeed! Goodbye, nephew!" "Wait! - wait! What about me?..." "Sleeping bags are behind the chimney, Guy," Elaine called out as they walked off. Another shot of the interior! Comments are appreciated as always! This was a lot of fun!
  24. A build in Bardo (licensed: Med. Commerce):
  25. This is my third free-build for this month, and I am Eslandian. In Bardo, Thursday is Market Day, and small farmers, fishers, and craftsmen from all around bring their wares to the Seller's Square. Come on and join in the fun! Get a hot meal... a literally hot meal, made with freshly picked chili peppers! Fresh Bardo pigs means fresh Bardo bacon... and nothing beats Bardo bacon! Something for everyone! Got carrots? Frog legs, anyone? Or be amused by this sailor's pet monkey! An overview: C&C welcome! I tried to convey the sense of a crowded market scene and while I would have liked to have a bit more time to introduce a few more unique stalls I'm pretty happy with how it ended up!
