  1. Most certainly Sea Rats can't be sued for piracy! Wherever would you get that idea? The Sea Rats can do many actions that would be considered acts of war if any other nation did such a thing. The problem is, the Sea Rats made a bad tactical discussions the first MRCA and sent all their ships to one place, which apparently scared them into being peaceful traders. Actually, just considering what we were able to take last MRCA without even attacking Oleon or Corrington, privateering strikes me as quite lucrative.
  2. I'm ready to settle for anything just to end the discussion. Sounds good. That's 73.3333333333333333333 etc. DBs. Perhaps we should just round up and say 75. And you know, since ESL is going to win, it doesn't really matter. We admire your Sea Rat honor. Best wishes then! And if you aren't interested in suing ESL at an ESL court, then I guess you'll just have to declare war... and we'll start using those ships to gobble you down. (Disclaimer: That's smack talk of course! Don't declare war! We love our pirate friends! )
  3. With regards to Eslandola vs. Sea Rats - the Sea Rat leadership has already expressed their intention of bringing this case to court (in other words, suing Eslandola). If you look at the ESL frontpage FAQ, you will see that the court system is arranged for quarterly hearings. Next hearing is in June. The Eslandian Bureaucracy hurries for no man, least of all for a Sea Rat. The case will come on in June. As per the ESL court rules, a jury of Eslandian citizens will be recruited. This jury will determined whether or not ESL is guilty of an act of piracy in attacking a Sea Rat Trade Run. Then, the judge (one of ESL's three faction leaders) will determine what the penalty for ESL will be (if the verdict is guilty). I hope that makes this part of the discussion crystal clear and we can stop clogging this thread with it. In justification for ESL's actions, please note that there is no way for us to specify whether we will attack only Sea Rats engaged in piracy or whether we will attack Trade Runs as well. The form only allows us to say whether or not we will attack Sea Rats, and if we say yes, we will attack both privateers and trade runs. How were we supposed to know that all Sea Rats had suddenly become peaceful traders? Yes. We are definitely interested in making this as fair as possible. Ska has brought up several good points. This is a court case. Isn't it reasonable that ESL should demand some sort of explanation and repayment from MAR for an unprovoked attack? It's kind of odd to say that ESL has nothing to lose. We stand to lose two ships if we lose this court case! It's like saying, Jim robbed Tommy, so now Tommy brings Jim to court - and then saying that Tommy has nothing to lose! Right now, Eslandola is working through this - but it could be your faction next time! I think that's way too much to offer for just a 20x20. And who would pay his lawyers 100% of the court gain? Could we simply say that if Mardier wins, each "lawyer" will be paid 20 DBs on top of the intial 10? I think that's more than plenty. In fairness to JN, he should be allowed to switch sides (if he would like) if we do change this rule. He obviously was trying to make some cash and if things change Mardier will be much more attractive. I would be willing to take his place on ESL (unless someone else is interested). Who decides in court cases? For a PC faction - that faction sets the rules. In Eslandola, it's trial by jury and the judge pronounces the penalty. For an NPC faction - the decision is reached via a build-off (at least in the case of captured ships). So you could say that the skills of the respective teams decide. You see, someone knows who decides in court cases.
  4. :pir-laugh: Yes, that is undoubtedly a copy paste error. Ska is probably too busy to fix it however.
  5. As Bregir has (sort of) pointed out, although Eslandola as a faction has incentive to get a team together, the only Eslandian individuals that have any incentive (other than the 10 DB reward) to build would be those whose ships have been captured. The rest of the factions as factions and as to a lesser extent as individuals have an incentive to keep Eslandola from getting back a warship, plus of course the 10 DB reward. Just to be clear, too, this has nothing to do with the ships captured by Bloody Bill. As far as sistershiping and flooding the waters with ships - under MRCA v.1 rules, sisterships can be licensed at any time, so that's a point that could always be brought up. The solution of appointing builders is a possible one, but really it would be much nicer to have volunteers. The solution of offering higher rewards for Mardier builders is not a bad idea. After all, if Mardier is able to hold on to its ill-gotten gain, it would make sense for it to pay those that helped it out a fair amount. As far as the possibility of allowing Eslandians to sign up against Eslandola in the latter case, I tend to think that builders should be restricted as little as possible. But that would certainly generate some IC suspicion and it could lead to OOC conflict too I suppose. But I'm not sure that if a builder were willing to take it on, he should be prohibited. (Side note: One of these ships can't become a trader because it's a warship.) ----- This (a build-off) is policy for all NPC factions that capture ships without being in a state of declared war against the faction that they have attacked. So it's good to make sure we have it all hammered out. Bravo! Let's see some pineapples!
  6. Certainly. But there's still some time left for Mardier recruits! Who's up for the challenge? Go for it! I would actually volunteer for Mardier if it weren't for the fact that I'm Eslandian. I really like this challenge idea and would love to duke it out with another team of three builders. What happened to fun and glory?!? If Mardier can't get a team together, then the issue will have to be addressed, of course. But let's give it until the end of the week at least.
  7. Whew! I think we're sold out... maybe even a little over! Kai NRG - 6 Sir Stig - 6 Phadeout - 3 Stash2Sixx - 1 Capt Wolf - 4 Elostirion - 10 Umbra-Manis - 1 Garmadon - 1 That's 32, plus the builder's share (which will go to Elostirion I believe). 33 out of 30 shares sold (unless the rate changes). If there are any other MCTC members who would really like to be in on this and have the money go ahead and apply, but for now at least no more non-MCTC applicants please (and we might have to boot you, Garmadon ).
  8. This looks great, Purvel - a very clean build! Wait a minute... But in fact, that white building does look really neat and well done and the landscaping is good too!
  9. @Maxim - this is something that has been discussed between MCTC members and you don't have to worry about some members getting ripped off to the benefit of others. From reasons unrelated to what has been stated in this thread however the math may have to be corrected - just a caveat so I don't look so silly if I have to change things up.
  10. MCTC is covering 1500 DBs. This is a textile factory, so it falls under the bonus and will pay 750 DBs a month. 30 shares, at (at least) 50 DBs each = 1500 = license paid for. Each share makes 20 DBs, so that's 600 DBs going to shareholders, leaving 150 DBs for MCTC. The one share for the builder will be paid for by a combination of MCTC and the Weelond Bank (because the Factory will be built in Weelond).
  11. There is no limit on location for Royal Factories. Perhaps you are thinking of Royal Forts? Whenever, and to MCTC specifically please. Guy K. Wyndzon will be buying 6 shares in the factory.
  12. MCTC members gather round for another venture! This time, though, let's stay on land. In the month of April 616, we will (try to) license the first Royal Textile Factory (thanks to Elostirion for his generosity in being about to build it for us). For MCTC members, shares are 50 DBs each. For any other BoBS member, shares are 75 DBs each. Each share brings in 20 DBs a month. There are 30 shares. One of these will go automatically to the builder. MCTC will cover the rest of the costs and will take the rest of the profit. MCTC members will be given priority in buying shares should there appear to be any serious shortage; other than that, first come first serve. The MCTC has the right to buy out shares whenever from anyone for their initial price of 50 or 75 DBs. MCTC will buy out non-MCTC member shares first. When applying, be sure that you will have the DBs necessary for a share(s) by the end of April. In honor of our glorious King Fernando Augusto VII and his willingness to grant us a charter, this Factory will be named the Augustinian Royal Textile Factory.
  13. Great builds here, good job showing the different scenes of the story! I really like the scatter technique you used, and the buildings on the large MOC are very nice!
  14. It will (or should be) automatically counted in the next month's income.
  15. Very nice story, good job with the sandscape as well!
  16. Neat market scene, I really like the tree and the activity going on! Actually it never was required, and certainly not now!
  17. He's just a free-lance pirate.
  18. The edit looks beautiful! This ship looks like she would be a lot of fun to play around with!
  19. There actually needs to be a new form for that.
  20. It really doesn't matter to me how this is handled, whether via the adjudication form to just directly subtract the DBs from the purchasers or via the transfer form to transfer the DBs from the players to a money sink. It's just a technicality so let us know which is easier given the way things are (being) set up.
  21. A really nice ship here Bregir, the shape towards the front especially is great and good work on the sails! Keep up the good work!
  22. Of course in the interests of transparency I'm quite willing to divulge the bids. I personally think there's something to be said for keeping them secret so others don't know what you're typical bidding trend is but after all that might not matter a whole lot, so if popular demand is popular enough, I will release the bids. I didn't realize there were actually established NPC accounts. If there are, and if there's one for Bloody Bill, then he should be the one getting paid.
  23. Who would the DBs be transferred to?
  24. 12:00 and the results are: Bregir has won the Heart of Eslandia with 410 DBs. Legostone has won the La Raenette for 30 DBs. Please fill out an adjudication form informing the game masters of your purchase. That's certainly the way this auction has gone!
