  1. Wow .... I love your vehicle and definately your 1930 firemen. Thats custom decals for the torso´s ? Anyhow lovely job. Well done ! :)
  2. Yes indeed its from the classic town bike shop. And it might sound stupid but im so glad that sticker is still there. Thing is all my tfol LEGO was flooded two years ago, almost at the same time i felt in love with LEGO again ( had my dark age lasting some 20 years ). So almost all original stickers was destroyed and the few boxes i had kept from my original sets. And i also thought that all my original building instructions were down there and i was seriously close to crying. But as you see a few stickers did "survive" and lucky as i was i had moved a box of playmobil to my sister for her kids to play with, and in there were most of my building instructions. ( Hence the Maersk 1651 that has just brought building materials to my city ) . Hope you will drop by my post when i get to post the intended photos, cause im sure you will be able to lead me toward a nice solution to a problem i have with an entrance leading to the top floor. Thanks for looking by !! :D
  3. I have been working on this for quite some time now. I do not have much to show right now. ( edit, and especially after i accidentally deleted all the pictures of the first house i had just photoshopped :/ ). I got bored with building castle and had promised myself after having found all my childhood LEGO i wanted to build, first, Classic space ( my stepson voted for that. ) then castle, and then city. I had this idea for a city diorama when i saw the first trailer for the LEGO movie and that was what i wanted to build. However when i started on making the build i got in a LEGO state of mind i had never experienced before. City ( i thought ) have always bored me, and i got this idea that it was all about raising 4 walls adding a roof ... Job done. But i got pulled in and decided to make it modular because it really took me to a dimension of thinking in between putting bricks together of how i wanted it all to come together. Well, i bet all you city dudes know what im talking about. And now im so glad that i got this idea for the LEGO movie diorama. But that will not be finished quite yet. Now, first of all i want my city to take shape build by build as a lot of you guys do in this forum. ( Edit: Again, im so sorry for posting only one picture but i have to wait till tomorrow to make my whole light setup and once again edit the pictures). Some dudes came with this construction worker to a really abandoned part of Denmark shooting for a new movie. It was all about assembling the biggest event in history catching it on HB cameras to take it to the big screen. Offcourse exactly at that moment the dudes with the power and funds in the small community took advantage of this and almost immediately started to lay a ground plan for a new city. It was to be called Allbrickcity. And nothing should be spared ( except for what i can afford of new bricks each month :P ). Finally after several months of plannig and having the roadsystem functioning, building materials have started to arive at the center. And boy the workers look happy to finally being able to begin working on what will make the city attractive for newcomers. ( They got bored with making that first building. All it got for now is: First floor - BricksAreUs. Second floor - Two apartments. Top floor - Skyline buffet) ( Edit: These were all the pictures i was stupid enough to get deleted somehow ). 1. The exterior of this modular build is "finished" but ive been looking so much at all of the textures that im afraid ive gone blind with it and wanted some advice from you all of what to change and what looks good. That will have to wait for now till i get new shots. :/ Anyhow. I still wanted to start the topic. First of all my road system, im not quite happy with yet. Every module here ( Which offcourse is hard to differentiate from one picture only :P ) is diffrent. As i builded them i got new ideas and changed my design for the next and so on. Mostly the problems is with making the bricks add up in ratio to make them fit on a larger scale. I will add pictures again once i get them shot and put the rest of the text in here. I also want to keep a ratio for builds to a 8 - 16 - 32 studs. But since that wasnt my intention at first since i started all this to make the LEGO movie diorama, i will keep my "town square" a bit of ratio since i do love the building a lot. But who knows, i might rebuild it in the future. So the roadsystem as it is for now is an assurance for myself. Building bigger i would need more bricks. I just wanted to make sure that i didnt "overkill" myself thinking i got enough bricks to make it bigger. But i also wanted to have a layout since i mostly build on several ideas at once. Making it this way i both restrain myself and make sure i wont get to a hold not knowing what to do next. Ive noticed that building city really eats up bricks. I thought i had made some massive builds in the past, but i think that my first modular build is the heaviest ive ever made ( size compared) and i havent even added a lot of interior yet. But, next up for the first modular build for my Allbrickcity is interior and a whole lot of labels and decals. Ive just ordered the printing paper and i still need to photoshop a lot more of the decals before they are ready. Ive begun on the interior and also wanted some advice on design for the skyline buffet resturant. But no photos no advices i guess. :P Other builds ive planned for my city: The low left corner is the only base i havent build yet. Im in doubt of where to make an entrance to the beach im plannig. All the bases to the right will have houses and shops. Again. Since im not entirely sure where to place the beach i dont know where to place a hotel and swimmingpool design. But it could be placed on the right here, extending the baseplates already there. Otherwise the harbour will be located here along the whole lenght of the roadsytem. Im gonna incoporate my crypt from my castle build to fit in my city also ( Chronicle of dragon dent ). I offcourse have a lot of ideas to fill up remaining baseplates. But im trying to take it slow and only build when i get what i think is an awesome idea. Once again sorry for that lonely picture, but i had written so much text around all the pictures i was gonna upload and then screwed. So im posting this anyways. Good thing is that at least i get to start my city post. Ive been looking forward to this. So much more to come. Please do comment, ask questions, give advices and so on. Thanks in advance. :)
  4. In addition to my post above. Your interior is also quite good. I especially love the tan / dark red and black floor pattern on the first floor. Your toilet on second floor is quite good also. :)
  5. This build is so cool .... I love the overall details. I have been thinking really hard to find one thing in particular but its overall such a clean build with everything thought out ( or you just got lucky ? ) .... *The club is awesome and the fact that it can be removed and make more parking space is cool. Your interior for the gas station looks superb even though most of it is just pure clean bricks. This is really a top 10 of my most liked builds ive seen around of city. Very well done !
  6. As a first moc/ build / try its really good. Lovely color scheme lovely ideas for details. Your entrance on the back of the house could be very vey nice indeed. Please make a second version, you will do good im pretty sure . :)
  7. Wooow .... Now it makes perfect sense to me that you didnt have any sound during the livefeed. I didnt have any idea that you were building in front of a live audience also. I did notice that a photographer were taking pictures along ( being you i know now ) .... They are great and thanks for posting them here also. I was hoping that you guys would do that. As i mentioned it was a great event. I might think that my comments can come across looking quite harsh sometimes. But i never have any negative in between the lines unless i really mention them as negtive. What im trying to say is that i loved your event it was such fun watching while i was sitting in front of my own town in progress and i hope you wil do it again as mentioned. Love the pictures !! Thanks for a great live build
  8. Does look promising. I have never made anything like that before. When i think about it only negative thing is that it will take some quite wide roads to make "the traffic" flow along in both directions. If you know what i mean ? But i like :)
  9. some of these builds are quite good. Im amased with the amount of builds buildings and the overall size of this. Where do yuo get fundings for all these bricks. Must have costed a fortune. Oh my, i would love to have so many bricks available. Anyhow its overall very stunning and as mentioned so nice to have the real pictures as comparisons. Well done :)
  10. Thanks for the review. The set looks fantastic !!
  11. Thanks for the info on the sticker printing paper lightningtiger. :) This build of yours are gonna look awesome in the end. The shape its taking is just awesome and im so looking forward to seeing it placed in your bricktown. Keep posting :D
  12. Reason i mentioned the sound was that at some points during the build it looked like you were talking to the viewer and that would offcourse have been a cool feature. The build process was fun watching, but offcourse it was hard looking along really getting involved as a viewer since it was a webcam and you could not zoom to every part of what was being done. The bricks was offcourse hard to diffrentiate at the distance from the camera. It was like a sons christmas / birthday where i as a parent really wanted to get involved with the build but wasnt allowed :D :D However it was overall a fun experience and i loved the diorama you ended up with in the end after having moved the diffrent builds around to make the Parisian resturant fit in the best. A very good idea for a live stream and i had fun watching it and i am now building on my own town since your show gave me the "craving" to continue on it. Please do it again whenever you have another chance !!!!! :D
  13. Are you aware that their aint no sound on your broadcast ? At least i dont have any ... :/ ( But then again if you are speaking Dutch, i wouldnt be understanding it anyways ) But its fun following so far. :)
  14. Yes. Im gonna be watching this over my "morning" coffee. Thats a great idea for a live broadcast. I will let you know all of my thoughts afterwards.- Looking forward to enjoy :)
  15. Woow. Looking great. Really "friend" like. I love how you have made your sea. Very simple though very effective. That big tree in the middle of everythingh is also very cool and does break the layout in a positive way. Well done :)
  16. This is beginning to take shape and all the stickers really take this whole build to another level. Can i ask what paper you use for the stickers since i myself need to make a whole lot of them for my first modular build. Thanks in advance. :) Also your interior is really impressive. Have you posted the interior for the "rural services" build in another post, or are they on their way ?
  17. I got this set for what is approximately equal to 5.5$ in danish krones ( 27.- ) which was a real bargain ( since mostly the sets costs the double in dkr than what you are lucky to get them for in the USA or great Britain ). I havent opened it yet but when i find cheap LEGO i cant resisit but buying it. I also find the colors really nice and that it fits really well with city. Ive been looking at this lately thinking of opening since ive just started building my own modular city and especially the transparent headpiece and the laptop +mp3/ phone is really usefull for what im building. Anyhow, nice review. I would have ended at a 9 overall or the like. But i also got it at a very good price. Keep them good reviews coming. :)
  18. I will indeed post pictures as soon as i have something to show. Good thing is that i got the idea before the set pictures was "leaked" so it will be something quite diffrent than what the official sets is like. And modular madness is addictive also i must add. :P
  19. Your city block layout is looking fantastic. Ive just begun building city making my first modular building. This was meant for a diorama i wanted to make with the LEGO movie in mind. Now ive just got modular madness sickness instead. Its so much fun building city builds. Anyhow im now lurking around for inspiration and i surely found some in this thread. Looking forward to seeing more. :)
  20. This is getting better and better. Well, weirder and weirder. But i just love this whole theme and find it hard to wait for the movie to arrive also. So much insane stuff going on that i dont even know where to start. Cops with crocodiles instead of dogs. And they even have light on their back. Awesome and cool :D That castle pod is pretty nice also. The flying trash van is my favorite. But all in all this is gonna be the first theme where i might pick up every range of sets. Im also a fan of the minifig series. ( And i just dreamt of a LEGO the movie chess board game with the series12 figs ) So now i have to make that when the figs get to us.
  21. 1 Ive been spending most of the time since last on plainig out the landscape so i could get to the edges and finally begin to add details. I really wanted the whole of the landscape to not be flat on on too large areas at a time. Since i havent been doing landscapes this scale before beside Classic Space which i had a totally diffrent approach too, this has been an enormous challenge. To me it felt like i had to learn a totally new building technique, but im beginnig to feel that all the work has payed off. Ive been speculating a lot during this process of how you all work with terrain like this. Thing is i often find myself building from top to buttom. Starting with a baseplate then laying bricks on top looking dowm on it till i find the pattern or form that i want what im building to have. I think this shows very well what i mean. This is the infested rocks. Having the layout done, im setting up a rough skeleton to get an idea of how i want the rockwork to turn out in its horizontal shape. Its really always turning out fragile in this state. When im satisfied, im beginning to make it more dense till im overall happy. Usually on side at a time. Its not until this state that i strenghten it with scaffolds building up underneath the terrain. This means that the whole thing might come crashing down on one during the process. I was lucky with this baseplate as i didnt have any major collapses. Are you doing it the same way or what ? ... Im being really curious about it. Its almost the same i did with the abandoned crypt. Last log ended with me wanting to tare it apart to rebuild it. And thats what i did. Building the final floor with the hole to get access to below which would become to hold a crypt. Then rebuilding side by side of the top level changing the diffrent bricks i wasnt happy with at first. When i build an "idea" the first time i almost always add all ideas and details that come to mind, then afterwards in the second or third build removing what doesnt seem right. Usually ending up with a very clean build and not that many overwhelming details. However i did end up adjusting the existing backyard here since i felt the terrain was right for the crypt. Its not very often im that lucky being satisfied at the first tablescrap. And the final result of the crypt. More pictures of the final build can be found in top post Chapter 2 of Chronicle of Dragon Dent. Lets continue with the terrain. Now knowing how much space the crypt and the infested area would use i could continue with the road leading from the castle. I would need space for a forest in front of the crypt and the infested area, hiding it from its surroundings. So i could not begin this part till now. Also finally getting to know the hight of these baseplates at the edges i could begin on the terrain on the "front" side of the diorama and also finally get an idea of where the sea should be located. That was equally as important for me to find this position. I want the edges at the front to level out in 1 plate hight, and im free to end in whatever hight nessecary at the back of the diorama, making it look smooth. If it can be explained like that. Doing rockwork at the edge of the castle. This corner is totally plained out. I want a marketplace or carnival to go on here when finished. A road leading down to this area offcourse. This was a serious pita to build. Im pretty pleased with how it is looking so far. I feel the diffrence in level is quite satisfying and when i get to the final touches its gonna look awesome. And a bridge from the road going across the water. Im not really sure with this design. As much as i like it looking old still robust, something is not feeling right about it. But for now its gonna look as is. This area is where the marketplace will be at. Im not sure im gonna use the baseplate or if im gonna build terrain here also. Im in between loving it and not. Im working on so many things for the whole of the diorama. The marketplace, a witch or a wizards hut. A monster that is still not named. A shipwreck. All of this could be a log for itself and probably will become as i get further ahead with all these things. So to end this log of, i couldnt resist putting the ent from the tower of Orthac onto my infested area. Did someone fart ? :D As always please comment for good or bad. Thanks in advance. :)
  22. I just read this post today weirdly enough. Looking at the images i thought that it was just you all being really critical towards the armor. Pictures can cheat and i didnt pay it that much attention. However, i took a break away from my castle build and begun the joy of building my Tower of Orthanc. Having just finished bag 1 and 2 building the ent, i have just now opened bag 3 in which this exact armor is and i must say that the stretch marks are really visible and not what i would expect from TLC. I just found it "funny" that ive stumbled across this post today and then got my hands on the exact same armor. Hope TLC will take of this in the future cause its not up to their standards.
  23. Lovely build and quite easy recognisable. Fantastic minifigs also. Great work . :)
  24. Haha ... I do see the awesomeness of this. But i unfortunately would rather se the old classic helmet. Thats mostly because i alreday got some 20 broken ones from my childhood. :D
  25. Thanks. Im putting a lot of work into this. I do need to improve my photoshop skills as im not happy eith many of the pictures for the second set. But im so glad you liked it.
