  1. Not to try to dampen anyone's creativity here, but the choice of words is quite important here to be able to make a cohesive canon. When styles such as 'Imperial' is used, it does not fit as smoothly with other builders contributions. I'd like to think of Kaliphlin as a gathering of more or less independent city-states. This means that it of course is reasonable for such a city-state to be a very important trading center and have it's own navy etc. Sadly, I think that a fair number of those have been spam bots...
  2. Sounds like it's located somewhere in the Akhenaten river delta then, as that's probably the only place in Kaliphlin where there are so many rivers? I like your descriptive style, but please check out the maps and suggest where the city is located. Edit: Ska was quicker to reply with the link
  3. Where in Kaliphlin is that? Is it a coastal city like so many others, or is it one of the oasis cities inland? We seem to have less members building in the south and east nowadays so you're more than welcome to start building Nasitadel somewhere in the south or the east There is an ongoing task for building Historican Settlements, check it out: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92705
  4. Welcome all of you, it's always great to see new members joining
  5. Great work on the rocks and wood, and I like the water and ice details as well Once again, congratulations to the well deserved title for that impressive barrage of excellent builds!
  6. Very quiet here in Kaliphlin except for Ska's recent barrage of builds, is everyone busy building or has real life or other hobbies kept people in other places than the great southern Historica? I myself have been struggling with trying to get a decent Sultan's Gate build finished alongside all the tasks required of a father of an 11 month baby... The gatehouse itself is in a ok state, so I'll do some photographing of that tomorrow to make the deadline for that but I'll have to postpone the final version atop some layers of cliff to sometime in April or May... Really excited about building more builds for SG however, I already have a few ideas I'm also gathering some ideas as to how Barqa will qualify as a city in the Historican Settlements task, right now I'm in the process of deciding if I should go the Kabel route and build each module to last for a while (and therefore also have to give attention to all four sides) or just build modules to photograph one by one. The "to last" approach has potential to create a greater whole (like a street of the city or something like that), but will consume a lot of pieces and force me to be more careful in the parts usage. On the other hand, the "use whatever pieces-photograph-dismantle" approach I'm using right now for the Sultan's Gate build gives me more room to just build without thinking too much on the brick disposition. I also still have my Nordana castle more or less untouched which locks up a fair share of my collection (possibly saving it for another exhibition in November), not sure if I want to lock up even more pieces long-term and especially not my more limited tan/dark tan collection...
  7. Good job with this build, my favourite picture is the closeup of the two drow emerging out of the ground, with the wall crumbling behind them
  8. Suitably height of the wall for the great city of Albion! Good job with the details and texturing as well, and I really like the subtle hint of a curve in the wall I suppose it's a matter of taste, but I wouldn't have minded some more variety in the texturing however.
  9. I really like that white-dark tan combination and the gothic arches, makes me want to expand my white collection Great story as usual!
  10. Nice double use of that MOC I'm happy that my sigfig was there to help!
  11. Great storytelling and fig posing! It's also really nice to see how the artist's rendition of the location has evolved since we saw it in book I. Can't wait to follow the rest of the story
  12. I agree with CBB, an "unlimited" story category (like category C in B2C1) would be best without a limit on the number of pictures in the post. If someone wants to post an illustrated novel wouldn't that be great?
  13. Thank you! And thank you for pointing it out, as I had not seen it myself since I'm mostly viewing the forum in the mobile view
  14. Very clever picture through the looking-glass I might borrow that technique some day (and give you credit for the concept of course!)
  15. Very nice stately home, a fitting phase III entry I agree with Kabel that it is a very recognizeable SK style, yet many nice new techniques! UoP +1 for the window frames and the stained glass (and the SNOT floor as well I suppose, although I don't think links should have to be followed to judge UoP claims...please include pictures of what the credits are claimed for in the post another time, but as it was the same credit as stained glass it's ok here )
  16. Great job with that dragon! It looks both cute and incredibly dangerous at the same time The acid effect is also spot on.
  17. Nice council chamber, I especially like the angled section and the wall decorations A very minor remark is that the floor could have used some more variation however, as it looks slightly plain compared to the nicely textured walls.
  18. Great to see some sign of life from you DM! Good luck with all those real life things, but I'm looking forward to seeing Mpya Stedor continue growing
  19. I have not finished my main gate build yet to the extent I had planned. Due to time constraints I will probably have to only post the gatehouse itself for the deadline, and finish the top part of the cliff it is on (which I've started also) as a separate free-build later. At least I've made a small portion of the city wall and the buildings behind it to hint at the city behind the gate. Hopefully the final result of these parts put together will be At least the bricklink order from Poland I was waiting for arrived in time, so now some lbg placeholder lion heads above the gate have been changed to proper medium dark flesh ones to match the ones at the flanking towers.
  20. I actually bought it for the figures
  21. Great haul, impressive amounts of bricks in one small cup. I've never tried one of those, I don't seem to be able to pass a Lego store with a PaB wall nowadays without filling 4-5 large cups...fortunately for my wallet we don't have any of those here in Sweden I love tan palisade bricks, they are excellent for texture (I've never seen them on a PaB wall before, but that's probably why I could by some quite cheap on BL once). Just wished that we would get the brick with masonry pattern in tan as well...
  22. I think that's why Mitgardia has had such an inrush of members, many are probably inspired by Skyrim
  23. I wish I had time to put some efforts into these mini-challenges, I really like the way this builds up to the main challenge II
  24. My pirate ship ambush set just arrived from Amazon UK, but I havn't had time to open it yet. Are there a lot of good general shipbuilding pieces in that one?
  25. That ship looks very good, but it's the brick-built sail which really stands out here. Great job on that!
