The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Zeus Island/Île de Zeus feels suitable since we picked it for it's rumored connection to Zeus Isle of Aletheia/Île d'Aletheia (or simply Aletheia in everyday talk?) has a nice sound to it and the name has a good significance (truth, disclosure) -
Great idea!

Very suitable build (and quite similar to what I'm working on )! -

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great recap TitusV! It seems correct to me. Only thing I'd like to add is that for the people of Historica the events at the end of Book I would probably be named the "Revolword War" or something similar? It's no saga for someone who witnessed the destruction wrought upon our lands by that evil wizard and his elementals! -
Contest! The Frozen Beyond, Results are in!
Gideon replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks for your votes!! This was a great challenge, but I wonder what I should do with all the Algus figs now? Maybe build something in the real Frozen Beyond some day? -
Processing power should only be an issue when working with the build, turning the lines on just for the screenshot shouldn't be impossible in any case? Raytracing which I'm advocating is however insanely processor heavy

Well deserved! About time Kaliphlin got another TBB mention http://www.brothers-...a-desert-jewel/ I agree!

"How Eltina was saved - CH2b" or The semaphore station
Gideon replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great concept with the semaphore! The building looks suitable for such an installation, sturdy but not too fancy. The posing of the cavalryman is also excellent -
[OL - FB1] Returning to Breshaun
Gideon replied to robinnilsson403's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great to see more of Breshaun! It seems like the city is a well-established trading gateway to the New World The busy feeling you've created with a lot happening in different places is really good, and I really like the green house! The tan house looks a bit out of proportion with too small windows and too high ceiling on the upper storey, larger windows and an attic inside would probably have looked more realistic. -
That's an epic wall! I think however that you should put a bit more work into increasing the amount of details, for example adding more structure in the walls. Something which would improve the presentation of your builds would be to render them with a third-party program like POV-Ray. You can find the LDD to POV-Ray converter here: http://ldd2povray.lddtools.com/ I'm no expert in digital MOCing, but here is an example of how a POV-Ray rendered build can look: https://flic.kr/p/eg6F6w Only thing to be aware of is that raytracing takes a lot of time, and that transparent pieces increase the complexity many times over. I tried to render a small stream once with a few 8x8 trans-medium blue plates and a bunch of smaller transparent pieces. I gave up after more than a week of rendering time Normal builds should be finished within hours on a decent computer however.

[ESL - FB1] The Cotton Lady (Class 2T)
Gideon replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That's really good shaping you've done! I agree that she sits too high in the water, but this design would be perfect for a ship in a drydock as there is no cheating with "the round part is below the water" (i.e. the table) The presentation is also lovely with that background -

Great continuation of the story! I love the floor, and the arches in the wall look good as well. The problem is that black is so hard to photograph well, so maybe another time the arches and the area underneath them should be different colors?
-
Nice keep, the stone parts look like a newly built fortification The tudor section looks good, albeit a bit large compared to the lower part but I'm not sure if I like the roofs, maybe the same roofing material should have been used up to the top?

Nice desolate feeling

Nice hut, I like the shape of it and especially the roof

Nice rounded wall and good roofing, and I really like the vines My only nitpick is that the path's pattern is a tad too regular.
-
Fun build! I like the SNOTed murky water also
-
Nice landscaping, the wall fits very good The figs have a very classic feel to them.
-
Great architecture! I especially like how you've managed to make such seamless transitions between different building techniques and made the roofs so round as well The "swampscaping" is top notch as well!

Nestlands Clans Embassy in Nocturnus: Lord Vladivus' Visit, part 2
Gideon replied to gedren_y's topic in Guilds of Historica
Interesting color usage and great design overall, I like the balcony and the pillar quite a lot Regarding the photography you seem to have missed focus in a few of the shots, I usually recommend trying to get the minifigs' faces in focus when doing closeups especially if the shot is for story purposes it is good if the figure in the story is sharp in the picture as well. Try moving your camera a bit further back (and crop the final picture if needed) if you have issues locking the focus close enough. -
That wall looks really good! I also like the siege engine quite a lot Regarding the photography I think the pictures are a bit too dark, and I don't agree with your composition in some of them. I would recommend either doing closeups where they are heavily cropped or try to include the entire build (or the entire part of the build in this case with two linked builds) and not cut it off at the edges or corners.
