Great work with the sky, it would be perfect for a forced perspective build too

Excellent build all around with some top notch details! I especially like the windows on the top floor (might consider borrowing that technique ), the framing of the dome which looks very smooth, the protruding parts with the small domes and also the palm trees
-
Very nice! I like the molten metal I wonder if trans-neon orange (which glows nicely in UV light) would work as molten/hot metal...?

Thanks! Good to know that it's not only 100+ build hours epic builds which get featured there

Impressive size as always! Building big and with a lot of details is even better

[SR - Ch:1 Cat:B] No one expects the Olean Inquisition....
Gideon replied to Vedauwoo's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a build which fits very nice with my "keep it dark, keep it realistic" approach to these projects, great work! Suitable build to show the more fanatical sides of the Faith.- 9 replies

Very nice shapes with that limited parts selection Great to see you and the Drow back in GoH!

The color scheme looks like something I'm considering for my first Oleander vessel I'm about to order the Friends cruise ship hull for that. Other than that (or maybe because of that!) I think it's a nice little ship!
-
Very nice brickbuilt hull!

Thank you! I forgot to add this picture to the first post, I took it to show the photo setup I used for this build (and all others in the same session). The grey card on the side is not in the final picture, but I took a separate picture of that to be able to calibrate the white balance.

Thanks! If you look closely you can see that I've made some other offsets as well (using 1x2 tiles)

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion

I assume that a build posted today can be posted in the coming February thread? -
Thanks! Surely feel free to borrow the idea, since it's probably not mine to start with Thanks! Nice to hear that you noticed the frog Thanks! My wife definitely liked it, much better than the gruesome GoH builds I've mostly produced lately... In character: Gideon is still reluctant to marry, but if a suitable bride with a sizeable dowry would present herself he might reconsider Thank you! I had planned a street in front (the shape of the house was actually made for a 16x16 base including a small street) but ran out of time before I was going to photograph it, since it was originally planned to be FB2 for January (before I knew I could use my character intro topic). The half-stud offset wall is actually fairly sturdy as long as enough jumper plates are used, but it surely consumes a lot of white plates...I need to BL a few hundred of those before I attempt any larger Oleander building. Dark red 1x2 and masonry bricks are incoming in "enough quantities" whenever the LUGBULK arrives, hopefully before November this year... I definitely have some polishing to do on that technique, particularly using more 1x1 and 2x2 round plates to make the edges of the damages more jagged. Thanks! And thank you for making me avoid a mistake I wasn't even aware of that I could do, I had calculated on buying this for 5 db :clasisc: But now I know I should aim for coming up with some kind of 25 db build to license as my FB2 (or more likely March FB1...)

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Here is my first freebuild for February, which I also will license as a small residence in Breshaun on LeBellan as soon as I figure out how the EGS work (I'm not sure if we're supposed to do it here, but in GoH we generally post thumbnails of our builds in the faction main threads and I'd like to push my fellow Oleanders to step up the pace of the freebuilding!) -
Gideon Saulse de Bothnia has bought a small dwelling in Breshaun on LeBellan to serve as his initial base for his venture into New Terra. He is proudly displaying the crest of his family on the house, which however seems to be in need of some repairs. (OoC: This build started out as an attempt to build half-stud offset cracked whitewashed walls plus as a test of a dark orange-medium dark flesh roofing technique. I will license this as a small residence as soon as I get the hang of the EGS rules)

Very nice ship, I like the shaping of the red parts and the gold ornaments Great way of handling the joint investment as well!

Thanks! Finally found some use for those sand green slopes Thanks! May the Lord of the Seas bring you good tailwinds as well! First stop on the travels is of course Le Bellan! Thanks! The gold was more a product of which colors those parts were available in, but I'm glad you think it worked out Texturing is a powerful tool indeed. I'm not entirely happy with the base for the temple here however, with some more time I should probably have made it look a bit more worn. Those alchemical tools claim they can predict the weather?!? How can it be then that so many ships still sink to the bottom of the sea? It must clearly be the work of Poseidon when they have not pleased him! OoC: Thanks! Angling elements of a build is something I've found to be very powerful in its simplicity to make a build feel more elaborate Thanks! Thank you! (Thanks for fixing the build title as well!) Thanks! Of course Poseidon should have the best fruits from the land! Thanks! You seem to have understood how things work in the world (unlike someone in a previous comment ) The reason for the green tiles on the lbg tiles were simply that I changed around the minifig posing a bit from the original build (so that the fruit would be visible) and that I didn't like the exposed hollow studs on the 2x2 jumpers that it left me with...and covering them up felt easier than swapping them for regular tiles... Thanks! I hope we see many more buildings related to the Oleander faith as I think it adds some nice dynamics to the characters if that dimension is also present in BoBS
