  1. I am surprised that TLG decided to make the Dain Helmet as a one piece item. Almost certainly it is going to be broken off by children playing with it and by AFOL's deliberately modifying it. Just about every other helmet, feathered hat TLG have made has had a little hole and a separate piece which fits. The Roman Soldier The Athenian Goddess The Knight The Cavalier etc etc. I guess the hair and helmet combo was cheaper to make as a one piece? Once again the Hobbit sets just seem to be designed to infuriate and alienate the LOTR fan community. Although presumably they worked fine for the child set testers that Lego employ?
  2. I imagine it will be something like this one, that came with the WV Bakery http://brickset.com/sets/10216-1/Winter-Village-Bakery
  3. A very good army, now you have to make the Black Shogun Army?
  4. I think you have to think beyond collecting the narrow selection of One theme these days. Asking One theme to give you everything you want in a city is a bit extreme. Lego City is just the base around which you can buy Buildings in sets from Winter Village, Friends, Creator, Modular, even TMNT and Superheroes themes. It is good for TLG and it is good for us AFOL's. Although it may not be good for our finances.... :)
  5. It depends on what kind of buildings that you want. All of the recent Creator houses and cabins are complete buildings although this one is terrible value at RRP http://brickset.com/sets/31012-1/Family-House you would need 2 of them to make a decent Family House. Here are a selection where 2 of each should make a decent building. http://brickset.com/sets/3185-1/Summer-Riding-Camp http://brickset.com/sets/3315-1/Olivia-s-House http://brickset.com/sets/41005-1/Heartlake-High http://brickset.com/sets/41037-1/Stephanie-s-Beach-House http://brickset.com/sets/41058-1/Heartlake-Shopping-Mall http://brickset.com/sets/41095-1/Emma-s-House
  6. A sentient Tree. This is a Great UCS Ent and a nice alternate build for the Ewok Village set. http://jkbrickworks.com/lego/customs/1415/1415ent640.jpg
  7. I'm going to have a go at building the Ent moot or maybe the attack on Orthanc some time. This is great inspiration and a good reason to buy the Ewok Village soon.
  8. I also got my full set of CMF 12 a week or so ago. 1/3 reduction in Argos and almost the same in WHsmith. :) A nice bargain, before the series goes EOL.
  9. My latest Chima purchase was the Flying Phoenix Fire Temple http://brickset.com/sets/70146-1/Flying-Phoenix-Fire-Temple ... and I spent a pleasant Sunday building it.
  10. Is this Old news? Or Great News..... http://brickset.com/article/12650/it-s-official-lego-jurassic-world-sets-due-next-year I hope the sets match with the previous Dino sets in some way.
  11. I like the Dark Dank winter water created using the Trans black pieces, Nice floating ice effect too.
  12. Impressive. I hope to build a couple of sky scrapers for my city layout.
  13. If Lego would make this in 12 parts, I would buy it. One part, £100 per month or bi-monthly. They could even produce a magazine to go with it, to explain the history of Gondor.
  14. Jealous x2, and Jealous x4. If only lego would remake this set..... ?
  15. ^^^ The answer for Bionicle is probably that Hero factory was dying off but lego wanted a constraction theme.... and Bionicle was pretty popular before it ended. So what better way for lego to continue constraction than a Bionicle reboot? Keep voting for the LOTR ideas and Lego will get the message that we want the third wave. We may have to wait for 2016 before we get it, but then we may also get a boost when the Extended Blue Ray and DVD collections are released in 2016. :)
  16. Here are a few sites. http://www.lordotrings.com/ http://www.bricksetforum.com/ Mentioned here, but you may wish to post your own topic. http://www.lordofthebrick.com/ Mentioned here, but you may wish to post your own topic. http://www.ageofthering.com/index.php http://www.fanpop.co...rd-of-the-rings http://lotrfanfiction.com/
  17. I hate to spoil the party but surely these custom minifigs are breaching somebody's copyrights? Okay for personal use perhaps, but not for making profit.
  18. You will be lucky to build this in 1500 pieces at minifig scale. But midi-scale or micro-scale should be possible in 500 pieces. http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Dol_Guldur
  19. Yellowy orange leaves, another shade of brown or green would have been handy. Purple? maybe as a carpet of small flowers?
  20. O dear. Grey dolphins would have been good. Pink dolphins I can live without. Although the E50 set does have some nice green fence panels. But thank TLG they are releasing a load of sets that I will not be buying. Now I can afford the sets I do want.
  21. Nice work. The roof would look slightly better with the new curved elements that can be found in city vehicle sets http://brickset.com/parts/6034044 for the sides and http://brickset.com/parts/4518575 for the ends.
  22. Very good petrol station and great decals.
  23. I think you did a good job there. Very oriental decoration but also modular european style basics.
  24. Very good building and overall scene. I'm not surprised you won that competition. Well done.
  25. The really bad part of the base camp is the Helicopter. The pilot would freeze to death before flying more than a mile in that badly designed thing. Lego should have used the parts for an ice core drill or maybe some kennels for the Huskies. The Larger http://brickset.com/sets/60034-1 Helicopter is also just slightly too narrow at the rear legs, to airlift the base into position.
