  3. Very nice model Ingenious use of the compressor pump. I never thought of using it in manual mode. The only part I don't like that much is the rear side. Maybe you can spend a little extra time to clean that area up. For the ladder you might be able to use this piece: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=6583
  4. Awesome model, I really like the futuristic look. Keep trying with the exhausts, you'll find a good solution eventually, i'm sure.

  12. Hi, Here is an update after a week of further tinkering: I have added one more function, namely a functional fake engine. Unfortunately I didn't have enough gears to connect it to all wheels, so there is only one wheel that drives the engine. I have now used 421 / 512 parts (so I still have 91 parts left... which amazes me if I look it into the box. There seem to be way less parts left... ) There is room for another cilinder block, so maybe I'll attempt to make a 3-cilinder fake engine. Edit: I just realized I have added mirrors too, so that accounts for another 8 parts in use... Still not in th 90% reuse though...
  13. Cool (pun intended). Many functions for such a small model Do you see any opportunity for a slightly better colour distribution (I know it is almost impossible with this limited amount of parts)? It looks a bit confused right now.
  14. Here it is: The red parts are part of the steering axle (which can be pushed two studs when switching sterring mode). The yellow bushes have to travel in between the two 5x3 L beams. Even when the axle is not perfectly aligned it will straighten itself when switching modes.
  15. Wow, brilliant use of the colours available + a good set of functions :thumbup: . Very well executed C-model, better than the B-model in my opinion. It is a shame that this set is too big for the competetion. This would have been a fantastic entry.

It is still in progress (I actually solved the problems I had with the outriggers and I have found a neat way to add some elastic energy to the boom to help during lift), but all these contests here take up a lot of time I wouldn't say no Ackerman, but it is Ackerman-light, since the wheels do turn at different angles going from the front to the back. In practice the turning angle is so big that the different angles for the left and right wheels (like you would need for a true Ackerman steering) can be found within the tolerances of the Lego. But feel free to steal, that's what this forum is for
  17. Actually I'm using parts in a different colour during building (and I skipped the wheels ). For the final model I just order the parts that I miss.

  19. Can you add a second axle that is parallel to the first axis? With two 16T gears at the top of the construction to drive it. Then use the red 8T sliding gear at the moving platform to get the rotation onto the platform. From there bring it to where ever you want. Succes
  20. Actually they are forcing the blade both up and down. It is a bi-stable knee-mechanism: in the up position the springs hold the blade up, while in the down position they push the blade down (they must be connected to the blue 3L pin just above the springs). I already built 95% of the model in real bricks and it really works .
  21. Hi, To set a first bar here is a quick mashup of 8048 and 8261. It is a red grader (I couldn't quite get a good parts collection in yellow for this, plus I needed 6 the same wheels). It's functions are: pendular suspension on the front wheels pendular suspension on the rear wheels steering (both in the cab and with HOG) The grader blade can be put in two positions up&down by tilting the axle with the black steering wheel on top. (In the down position the springs will keep it pushed against the floor) The grader blade can rotate around the vertical axis (you have to turn the black steering wheel for that) The grader blade can rotate around the horizontal axis (not adjustable, it will simply follow the ground) The ripper in the back can be put in two positions with a little lever at the back: up&down. (In the down position the springs will keep it pushed against the floor) Part usage: 387 / 512 (198+314) (none of the extra parts used) Allthough the grader blade isn't operated like the real thing, the play value is actually quite nice I think.   22. And don't forget that you can make beautiful renders of digital models as well, so there the photoshop-effect-debate can be started as well. For me the rules of the model-team contest are fine (allow for more than one photo). Even with my un-edited photos I received enough points to be happy .

  24. What about the extra parts that come with a set? Are they part of the piece count?
