Interesting concept, somehow this wheel solution is better for some Mars research vehicle IMHO -
I have found one as you can see in my tread, but it is more suitable for 23 studs wheelbase model...to use connectors with axle is no option (based on my idea) because axle have to slide through pinholes.

I had fun with telehandler, but at the end telehandler wins, so I had to reconstruct boom which can not be done thinner than 5 studs because I have now extension cables and can not integrate motor at the top of the boom...and there is no 24 studs long axle, so I have to work with 32 studs long one (that I have from 8421 set... Luckily there is warmer weather coming here where i live (it will be +15 for weekend)

42131 - CAT D11 Bulldozer
1gor replied to Maaboo the Witch's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Speaking about tracks (and sprockets) I have made some calculations; since real machine has some 1200mm sprockets and Lego are some 56mm it means that Cat will be some 1:21,5 scale like Xerion and Mack -

Systems tractors and other machinery
1gor replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Tires are real blessing and they are actually cheap; at least here...all four for approximately 1.5€. they fit perfectly in my chosen scale for 405/70R24 tires and Loadall 527-58 has those tires as one of two tire options. It will take some time since last 3 years whenever I got a chance to work on my models something or someone constantly distracts me (and simple thing as boom instead of hour or two takes few weeks ) ...even my Unimog 218, Syn-trac, CLAAS Jaguar... are on standstill. As I mentioned earlier boom reconstruction is main issue for now.- 625 replies

Glad to hear that you managed to find tires. I plan one m-motor in the boom and one at the rear in vertical placement. These days (except today) I'm brainstorming how to make better boom with 4 studs width. I'll use sliding red 8 tooth gear to transmit rotation to tilt attachments holder...after I do that optimisation process is next... The tires really give good representation and proportions to 527-58 model... Main idea is to put "tilting" motor somewhere else but top if the boom- 625 replies

@pdw as you can see tires have arrived and today I was able to find additional 2 m-motors that I need for boom, so I can plan updating smaller telehandler... Linear actuator for boom rising is in place, but I just need to connect it with gears... ...and @jorgeopesi please don't look since I use 3rd party tires until LEGO does not make appropriate tractor or some industrial narrow tires with 81mm diameter- 625 replies

Well it is just a friendly advice since we have that topic for years and (in most cases) it is not the best solution to have dozen of new topics dealing with the same thing. Another practical thing is then we other members want to peek into some solution we can easily find where it can be....but if course @Jim and @Milan have final word in this case... Kind regards
