  1. No LotR add? This is the first time I am feeling nervous about the continuation of the line. I still hope for Faramir, Eowyn and others, but based on past adds, this is worrisome, indeed. :(
  2. I don't mind the official set names. Seeing 'Out of the frying pan, into the fire' as a title of a LEGO set would be hilarious.
  3. That's what I fear. If it sells for 120AUD, as Artanis suggested, we would be much better of brick-linking Radagast, Necromancer, Azog and the two orcs. I expect this would not exceed 50 bucks plus shipping. Paying 60 $ for another Gandalf and a (in my opinion) very mediocre set is too steep.
  4. Wasn't that the U.S. price for Mines of Moria? Looks like roughly the same size but minus the big cave troll. I wonder how much this will retail for in Australia...
  5. Thanks! I'll have a look for that piece. Wish I had known it when I visited the Berlin LEGO store last year. No such luck in Australia.
  6. I'm a big fan of incorporating official sets into MOCs, or rather expending official sets. Well done! Two suggestions to (i) improve movie accuracy and (ii) aesthetics: (i) you could flatten the walls from the Uruk-hai army sets. The movie version of the Deepingwall is flat - aside from one bulge close to the Hornburg. (ii) you could smoothen out the contrast between your great rock work and the top of the section leading into the caves. I also like the interior set-up. May I ask where you got the hair piece for Theoden from? I have one from Thor, which is much lighter in colour. Yours is perfect!
  7. Wow! Beautiful. If I had the pieces for it, I'd try to use your technique to build the throne room of Minas Tirith.
  8. Beautiful. I'd like to see it without the uruk helmet, though. A hood, 80s Forestmen hat or hair piece might look even better.
  9. Thanks for posting the pictures from the German catalogue, Lego-freak! I'm really hoping to get a neutral second face for Radagast (not just the one with a wide-open mouth and angry look).
  10. I'm actually glad it's a MOC. If we see another UCS LotR set, I hope it's Minas Tirith. It looks great, though!
  11. A silver dagger with golden handle looks much more accurate to the photo than a completely golden knife, in my opinion.
  12. A childhood favourite! Nicely done!
  13. The new collectible mini fig line might provide an opportunity to give Radagast printed legs: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85700&st=75#entry1730639 (the fig at the front row with dynamite sticks(?)) Unrelated: the LEGO version of Tauriel's daggers are very accurate! http://www.noblecollection.com/index.cfm?fa=products.product&id=NN1213&catid=91
  14. Robert, the reply was very soon after the release of the first wave.
  15. Reekardoo, your project is currently featured on CUUSOO's Facebook page. Might be an excellent time to gather some support! For everybody, two other LotR projects by Eurobrickers are also featured (Minas Tirith and the Argonath). Let's share and support!
  16. That would be a great Moria Orc! I'd also love to see the Rohirric and Elven swords from the video game - and Anduril, of course! I've said enough about Gondor. :)
  17. Her absence from that set surprised me, too. Then again, the trailers only show Radagast and Gandalf at Dol Guldur, and I suspect that Galadriel's offer to Gandalf ("If ever you need me, I'll be there.", or something along those lines) may indicate that she'll join the battle at a latter stage - maybe at There and Back Again. That said, I think Galadriel's role in LotR was significant! In addition to her presence and insight, Frodo would have been sucked dry by Shelob without Galadriel's gifts.
  18. I remember some female fans complaining about the lack of heroines in wave one, and LEGO replied (via Facebook) that Galadriel and Eowyn will be included in latter sets. Good thing for us might be that Galadriel could be in a Hobbit set and thus freeing up space for other things in Lord of the Rings, but if I had to bet money on any set 2014, it would be Lothlorien.
  19. Does anybody else expect a very small final wave of LotR? My thought is that LEGO initially planned two waves, since there were only two Hobbit movies. After the decision to turn the Hobbit into three films, I presume LEGO simply halved the second wave. This would explain why we only saw four sets this year, and would mean only 3-4 more sets next year. Certainly hope I'm wrong, or that LEGO added some sets in the meantime. I have a hard time believing that I'm still reading about that list by BlackTiger. If there was any credibility to it, he could simply forward the pictures to a mod, who could confirm the existence of prelims, and BlackTiger wouldn't have to be afraid of a responsible mod knowing the stakes for the designer passing on the images. Regarding the above balrog discussion, I don't think the fell beast would be a problem. I expect it to be moulded, as seen in the video game (albeit smaller). However, I don't expect a balrog, either, since 'religious groups' will undoubtedly try to get into the spotlight by accusing a toy company of satanism. Finally, I'm still not in love with Mirkwood Elf Army and frankly find the four combined sets not at all worthy of displaying. They don't scream Middle-earth to me, at all. Not recognisable, not accurate to the movie, not detailed - I'd rather display many other LotR/ Hobbit sets or a MOC.
  20. Two Rohan soldiers beat two generic orcs any day, in my opinion, and the pieces in UHA are more useful in LotR MOCs, as far as I'm concerned.
  21. Penguinz, that's some true dedication! In general, I have actually warmed up to the sets (or at least the figures) after seeing the hi-res images. And just because it's been rather quiet recently, I wondered what everybody's ten most anticipated things in the Hobbit 2013 sets are. My top-10 in order: 1. A scan of an instruction booklet confirming Lord of the Rings sets for 2014 (Any guesses on when this might occur?) 2. Radagast minifig (Love the character's concept but hated the execution. I actually liked his version in the War in the North video game much more, since it still presented the brown wizard as an eccentric character minus the ridiculous slapstick). 3. Brown Warg (could use multiple for Rohan vs warg rider battles, will depend on Bricklink prices) 4. Beorn minifig (already have the bear and look forward to use him in MOCs) 5. Gundabad Orcs (more variety and nice looking pauldron piece) 6. Bard the Bowman minifig (important character, but severely flawed by lack of quiver) 7. Thranduil minifig (good to get the leader of the elves, although his terrible ears ruin the fig slightly) 8. Azog minifig (might as well add him to my collection since I have a white warg and PJ decided to have this CGI guy as main villain) 9. Dol Guldur display set (it doesn't look like much, but I highly anticipate Radagast & Gandalf in a sequence that feels gritty and full of suspense rather than slapstick and would possibly have Dol Guldur on display for a few weeks) 10. Lake-town Chase set (it's the best-looking set of this wave, in my opinion, and I could see it standing on a shelf for a few weeks after the movie).
  22. The idea is nice, but the castle would look rather ugly, I fear: Low walls without much structure to them, no gate and four towers only remotely resembling trees. You would need something to fill the courtyard. Unfortunately, combining MEA with Barrel Escape won't work too well. We might get better ideas after watching the Desolation of Smaug.
  23. Thanks guys. You might be right, Maxwell. The water may look more complex than it is, though. It's just SNOT (8x4 baseplate with some 2x1 and 1x1 on it). And the rock work complexity is similar to that of Attack on Weathertop. I've included some larger bricks (those molded rock pieces) on the sides to keep the piece count (and associated price) down.
  24. Beautiful! I particularly love the wing design! This would be a perfect set for a last wave of LotR sets! Supported.
