  1. My town is definitely going down-hill. I've got Bars and Pubs and a Brewery and they're all a bit seedy and run-down. So when I decided to build something with a car-theme I knew it wasn't going to be an antiseptic showroom stuffed full of expensive cars. What my town needed was a Repair Shop where for a cheap price the unqualified mechanics will do their best to get you back on the road. It's based very loosely on a real building here in Missouri that burnt down in mysterious circumstances a couple of years ago. Who knows maybe with this MOC I've solved the mystery. There's a tumble-down old fence and a junk yard dog. The facade of the main building is crumbling and there's discolored brickwork all over the place. Inside there's a finger operated car lift, a red-swing door (courtesy of the Apple Tree House), and shelves full of cans and tools. If I had an expensive, Italian looking sports car I wouldn't be taking it here. The adjacent lot is full of spare parts scattered across the broken concrete, some wheel hubs, some fenders and a Snap-on tool box. But it does have an interior complete with Coffee Machine, Toilet and Sink - it's a bit grubby in there... The mechanics appear to be swapping out a perfectly good Blue door for a junky Yellow one - and I'm concerned about the number of spare parts they've got left.... Here's a shot from the side, but I think they should be paying more attention to the rear of the building... ...where someone has carelessly discarded a cigarette into a trash-can full of oily rags. This isn't going to end well! I hope you enjoyed it! Comments and criticisms and suggestions are most welcome.
  2. Don't underestimate the size of their Advertising budgets! If it's for a TV spot, or a high end magazine/billboard sequence the budget could easily run into six figures - so find out what it is and don't price yourself too low.
  3. Currently listening to the high pitch whine of tinnitus in my left ear
  4. They look great. Those 1x2 plate handles work very effectively as steps. I hope you share pictures when you build them in bricks.
  5. You built grow lights for the crop in the attic? Now that was a detail I wasn't anticipating!
  6. I love the levers, the air vent at the back and the whole 'kinetic' feel of it, but my favorite part is, of course, the machine that splats the frosting on the cake. Can I have some more please!
  7. Nice looking van LT. I like the step sides.
  8. I agree, but I would recreate it, at BL-cost plus labour costs and postage, if asked. But with my standard of MOCing that is an irrelevant question.
  9. Happy Birthday adopted country!
  10. One million points for the Bill & Ben reference LT! As for the MOC. I like the straight lines and plain facade of the front. I'm definitely liking the swinging sides, but the interior is brilliant! You've crammed so much into a small space and it's get everything in it - I was going to mention the lack of a bathroom door, but you've cleverly incorporated into the swinging side. Most complete MOC i've seen in ages! Congratulations!
  11. It's looking good, but it's going to be large! Making it a square means you're might have issues reaching over to the center attractions. So, how about a long strip of 9 base plates with a cable car connecting one end of the park to the other. I like to see a log flume as an attraction, but it'd be so impractical. Good luck with it and I can't wait to see the next addition.
  12. Thanks for the review Masked Builder. What a great looking set!
  13. They don't seem to exist in any of your towns though LT. I think you need to accomodate them in your next build. As for the MOC. I really like the SNOT curved frontage - it looks just right for an Art Deco building.
  14. Good luck! When are you hoping to make the attempt?
  15. That's a clever solution - I may have to 'borrow' that idea...
  16. Another BL order! Dang, this hobby is getting expensive....
  17. That looks great! I really like the SNOT work on the front and the arches over the windows (although I can't quite work out what's holding them in place. How have you done that?). The colour combination works well and I like the Olive Green roof, but that's a lot of 1x tiles to have placed individually! It's a great addition to Steenstraat - thanks for sharing it with us!
  18. I guess that comes up as a topic from time to time. Here's the most recent thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82569 But I think the general consensus was that it wouldn't happen. Me? I'm still contemplating BL'ing the CC, but every time I start isolating the bricks from my current spares to reduce the BL orders that I'd have to place I get distracted and build a modular MOC. Of course, that's not a bad thing, but I'm beginning to realize just how big a commitment it is to BL the CC. I applaud anyone who has the gumption to do it.... and the idea of BLing the first three concurrently just blows my mind!
  19. Excellent job!
  20. Scrolling through the pictures on my phone I thought I was looking at a Scooby-Doo movie! (must get new glasses) I like it a lot. I think you've done a great job with the vegetation and I particularly like the greenery growing up and around the rocks and the abandoned wheel propped up. Thanks for sharing it with us!
  21. Now that would be epic in real bricks! I really like the balconies - although I dread to think how many 1x plates are in that front facade. Do you have an idea of the brick count?
  22. I completely agree. Looking forward to the next edition. Thanks
  23. Wow! Excellent enhancement to an already good-looking MOD. That additional height is definitely helping, but it's the expanded interior that I really like.
  24. It's a decent looking helicopter - with, I suspect, plenty of playability. There's some interesting pieces in there for sure, but I'm not convinced I could use them in my building MOCs so I think I'll pass. Good review, thanks!
