  1. I'm thinking that to ensure that the cost is in the US$150 range that we may see a more modest design (and I don't have a problem with that). Here's the kind of thing that I think we may see:
  2. Welcome to Eurobricks Tubby! I think you'll find there's plenty here to inspire you to create your MOCs..
  3. Thanks for the detailed pictures! This is EVEN. MORE. AWESOME than I'd realized. Incredibly good!

    MOC 2132

Good job! I like the monorail design and the old(new) building.
  5. I like the mecha, but it's the representation of the damage that the city is experiencing is where the interest lies. You've done a good job there, but as the others have remarked it might need more buildings (and more destruction!) Thanks for sharing it with us!
  6. I'm thinking: Plenty of out-in-front seating with umbrellas (possibly the building will be offset more from the street than the others in the series). Maybe with greenery/shrubbery to separate the eating area from the public space. An inside Bar area. Ornate facade with a curved SNOT lettered restaurant name. An 'A' frame blackboard out front with a sticker for the menu items (a Prix frixe!)
  7. I was thinking this morning that it was about time we had an indication as to what the next Modular was going to be! Thank you! This could be an exciting build - as long as there's no freakin' mimes!
  8. It's a good idea, but I would suggest leaving the instructions at home and just relying on the Box images to complete the build. This would definitely extend the amount of time you spent - and it would exercise your brain!
  9. That's a thriving little town you've got there SalvoBrick. There's so much going on and there's nice details everywhere. I particularly like the Station and the Construction site - that's a good use of Technic bricks. One observation; in the picture of "....another friend of mine is washing his car in his courtyard." There's a pair of trousers at the top of the image. I hope it's a washing line and not some terrible accident!
  10. That's a great idea! You've gotta do it and share pictures.
  11. Thanks Kristel! I knew there had to be a way of doing that.
  12. There was a thread somewhere on this forum about different strategies for packing the PAB Cups. It's definitely worth checking out. Another thing to bear in mind is that if you reuse your cups (take them back to the Shop with the Lid) then there's a slight discount (about 3%). And don't forget to sign up for the Lego VIP Card as well to get an additional discount on subsequent purchases (one you've accrued enough points). Oh, and as Darth Dino mentioned use this link to check the status of various PAB walls http://www.brickbuildr.com/view/pab/ I've just searched for the PAB packing thread and apparently it's this one! Check out the first posting (36 pages ago)
  13. Great looking vessel and the taunting Monkey on the stern is excellent!
  14. I saw this in the Lego Store in Kansas City and was very nearly tempted. If I'd read your review beforehand then I would have got it.... Thanks for the review!
  15. I agree with everyone else's comments, but the flames on the roof deserves a special mention. They are the most realistic I've seen. There's so much to take in and enjoy here. Congratulations on such an epic, monumental build.
  16. The vehicle you see on the hoist fits through the swing door and up onto the ramp, but it does have to leap over the (2432) Tile, Modified 1 x 2 with Handle at the ends of the Hoist. In real life I think the turning radius of the vehicle would prevent it from making the turn from the door-way to the hoist, but this MOC uses Lego Physics and normal rules don't apply! Thanks for all the comments! I had so much fun building this MOC.
  17. Here's a quick schema for Solar Power.... Panels connect to a Charge Controller (it basically ensures you don't overstuff the batteries). The Charge Controller connects to a series of Batteries (these can be big! and you may need a lot of them - I worked on an off-the-grid building in Colorado and the 12 Marine Batteries were stored in a room about 6'x8'). The Batteries connect to either a DC circuit or an AC circuit. If it's an AC circuit (like what you have in a normal house) you'll need an Inverter (small box to convert the DC power in the Batteries to AC). Probably too much information.... but I'd just suggest using the Battery Bank to hide your Battery Pack.
  18. That is superb! You should be very proud of it.
  19. These are fantastic! I think the T1 is my favorite - although that Bulli is really well done.
  20. A successful road trip to Kansas City and I bagged the following in 2 PAB cups 470 2 x 2 Lt Blue Grey Plates, 3068 141 1 x 4 Brick Drk Red Brown, 3010 299 1 x 3 Brick White, 3622 29 1 x 8 Tile White, 4162 26 Green Plant Brick, Round 1 x 1 with 3 Bamboo Leaves, 30176 Let the MOC'ing begin!
  21. That's really well done. The sense that there's a high risk of explosion is definitely enhanced by the slow speed and the machinery shaking. I love it!
  22. I'm going to comment in my capacity as a professional number geek (my Linked-In Job description has me as a 'Maths Ninja' and I spend most of my week building probability models in Excel). So, the premise is that there's a correlation between degree of Lego AFOLness to Years of Education received? How are you going to measure AFOLness? Is it a binary? (Yes/No), is it a scale? (1-10, and if so, what's that going to be based on)?, is it based on eurobrick postings (because if that's the case Lightning Tiger is going to skew the results one way or another). Let's assume that you could define the bases above and grab some data. Then there's the problem of sample size. I'm guessing AFOLs are a very, very, very, very small subset of Adults. Any Education Level/AFOL-ness relationship that could be observable is likely to be swamped by such a disproportionately small sample and could be dismissible as noise (ideally you want sample sizes of AFOLness and non-AFOLness data points that are comparable, or at least in the same order of magnitude). Either way whether there's a link or not the one thing that you have to remember when looking at a field of Probability results is that Correlation is not Causation.
  23. Compact, but well put together. I like the color combination you've used and the scattered transparent pieces make for a very effective sea. Thanks for sharing it with us!
  24. Maybe I should have included additional pictures! Here's the rear swing door and the Car lift/Hoist is four vertical slotted 1 x 2 x 5 with groove that holds the Modified 2 x 2 with Wheel Holder snuggly. It moves up and down quite easily and stays put in any position.
