  1. http://www.brothers-brick.com/2016/07/20/lego-collectible-minifigs-series-16-review/#more-75145 Thanks for the suggestion. It's quite a good review with quality photographs and well written text. Could have benefited from a few more pictures though. I agree - a bit of a dog's breakfast. CMFs are designed by a team at TLG. One gets the impression that too many team members inputted on the rogue to the detriment of its design congruity.
  2. Thanks I wish I could take all the credit but I can't. The Batmobile's spiky appearance was mostly part of the original Ninjago design. One cool feature of TLG's concept that I kept is that when you push the back, it causes the spikes to stick out. It makes the vehicle even more menacing which I felt was very much in keeping with Batman's tactic of intimidating criminals.
  3. There's a world outside the US? Have you gone completely mad? Only if you believe in UFOs, my friend. ...in the wrong colour. Granted, most woodland animals have monochrome vision so it really wouldn't matter what colour you were wearing. But if you were hiding from/ambushing humans in anything but a temperate climate in autumn, you wouldn't want to wear red. It's not the worst colour for woodland camouflage (according to the FBI, it's blue), but still not great. The only saving grace is that the dark red printing on the reddish brown torso looks from the YouTube review to be slightly brownish. As for the dark red upper arm, I'll probably replace that arm with a dark green one.
  4. Checked a WHS, a TRU and a John Lewis in the UK yesterday - not a sausage and no knowledge of when they might have them (though the lack of knowledge doesn't say much as UK chain outlets seem to have very little visibility into their supply chain).
  5. Indeed. You can see it's one piece about 8:10 into the YouTube review to which I linked. Has it? Which minifigure(s)?
  6. Just noticed from his clasp that the rogue is a member of the Wolfpack, a sub-line of Castle released in the early 1990s! How cool is that?
  7. I believe I answered that on the previous page of this thread. Nice to have it confirmed though.
  8. Don't say I didn't warn you. I'm looking forwards to Fangy's review here on EB and JangBricks' on YouTube. Unlike the reviewer above, I suspect Jang will know that the Arabian knight's weapon isn't a "knife"; it's a two-handed scimitar, tulwar or kilij. I was thinking that. But then again, it could be a stand for her head protector when you display her with her hair. Mine are: Snow queen, rogue (though I'll probably give him two swords instead of his bow and quiver), imp (though I'll give him a red devilish face and plain red torso) and Arabian knight (I've had a MOC of a similar minifigure for years). Others I'm after are the penguin suit guy, wildlife photographer (for the penguin) and babysitter (for the baby). And, yes, the first person to say the ice queen is cool will get a virtual slap. I reckon the CMFs in this series will be easy to identify by touch for those who use the tactile method.
  9. There's a YouTube review of all 16: The reviewer has an annoying voice, seems surprised by some parts that aren't new and is so arachnophobic that she is genuinely scared of the spider in the Spooky Boy pack! Although you don't get a good look at it, it seems that the hiker's map has somewhere called "Greeble" on it which, if correct, is a nice touch.
  10. I'm not into HP, but that's still a very impressive MOC! The outside view is pretty cool in its own right, but it's the detailing of what I assume are important locations in the books and films that make this MOC extra special. If I may make a couple of suggestions: in the video, you should have a panning close-up of the interior so the viewer can understand where each room is relative to the others. You can see that in one of the pictures above, but in the video the rear view is too small/too far away. My other suggestion - and this is a preference with which many FOLs would disagree - is to have all the human minifigs be yellow-skinned. If it's not possible to accurately represent some characters without using fleshies, then I suppose they have to be flesh-toned. Either way is OK, but having both fleshies and yellowies in the same MOC is jarring; they should all be one or the other.
  11. Recently modded control centre from the Batman and Superman vs Lex Luthor set from the Juniors range, including adding extra equipment, rotating chair, architectural details (finials etc), greebling and communications tech. Below a Ninjago vehicle modded quite some time ago including 'batmanning' it and giving it a jet ski.
  12. I'm looking at this thread on a mobile device with a small screen and misread the above as "...lack of pants"!
  13. But do you turn big and green or big and red? Just checking so I can add an accurate Felkin Hulk to my bigfig/minifigure collection.
  14. I wonder if the two She-Hulks will have a second face printing. Would be cool if they had an angry face.
  15. Here's a close up of the bigfigs and minifigures which I don't think has been posted in this thread yet: As many others have said, the figs are great (though the toe-less Red Hulk is a bit odd), the vehicles rather unprepossessing and the price point painful.
  16. I don't know if the Library of Congress and the British Library have a distinct classification in their respective catalogues for LEGO (or construction toy) idea books. I believe both catalogues are online, so it should be possible to find out without having to pay either a physical visit. When I have a moment and if no one has beaten me to it, I'll check and post my findings.
  17. Cool minifigures. Apologies for the OT post.
  18. No, Dr Bolton from NASA, it's not "LEGOs" (or even "Legos")! It's just "LEGO". There are three floating around Jupiter that no-one would miss. Seriously, I suspect there are more of them on Earth but they're not for sale. My guess is that if there are spares, they belong to senior people at NASA and TLG or to TLG itself.
  19. I got both the Retro Knight and the NK King's Guard at one of the LEGO Westfield stores yesterday. No token or coupon needed. The retro set required a minimum purchase amount. I think the King's Guard came with any NK purchase which in my case was Ultimate Flama. I have a feeling that even though the NK promotion was supposed to run from 1 to 9 July S@H has already run out as it no longer appears on the site. The Retro Knight, however, is still listed.
  20. BrickCurve basically has it right. If a LEGO set or MOC can fit a minifigure, it's MF scale. It's not a precise ratio, more of a scalar range. That's not to say there aren't exceptions. The SW Microfighter line, for example, can accommodate a minifigure but clearly the vehicles aren't to MF scale: Han Solo isn't almost as tall as the Millennium Falcon is wide, not even within the broad boundaries of MF scale. I would describe the Microfighters as chibi. Among collectors of (non-LEGO) miniatures, scale is usually measured from the bottom of a miniature's feet to the height of his eyes. If you take that as 5'8", you can get a reasonable approximation of scale. I don't have a LEGO minifigure to hand to try it, but it wouldn't be very useful anyway. As already mentioned, the tolerance of the MF scale doesn't lend itself to a fixed ratio.
  21. Thanks for the review, Adeel. Most useful. I'm hoping to pick one up later today if my nearest LEGO store has them and the qualifying sets I'm after. I'll add the minifigure to my display collection, but probably not the ballista. I'm not keen on siege engines. I'm usually ambivalent about LEGO boxes and instructions but will definitely be keeping this one. I hope so too. NK's longevity will depend on sales. The reason that Ninjago has lasted as long as it has is its popularity with kids. I don't know if NK's sales have been any good. I hate to say this because I generally wish TLG the best, but I really hope NK's sales have tanked. I like NK's villains but that's about it. The rest of this theme is too sci-fi and not sufficiently medieval/fantasy for my liking.
  22. The gas masks you have linked to are by SI-DAN. I don't have any of their gas masks or anyone else's (I'm mostly into medieval, fantasy and super hero minifigures), but I do have other SI-DAN parts (for example, quite a few non-LEGO parts in this picture are by SI-DAN: http://www.brickshel...ymios_court.jpg). The SI-DAN parts are manufactured to a very high standard, comparable to LEGO. In terms of design, they tend to be less chunky than LEGO (such as the thin shaft of the parasol in the picture I already linked to). They also aren't always a good fit with LEGO minifigures (such as the jinbaori in the picture that required some work on the neckline to make it fit), but mostly they're fine. Judging by pictures of the SI-DAN gas masks on LEGO minifigure heads at sites such as FireStar Toys (e.g. http://www.firestart...reen-Army-.html ), they fit OK. It looks like they slide onto the head and are neither neck pieces nor dependent on a helmet. Hope that helps.
  23. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7167&st=0 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7167&st=200#entry2058714
  24. To be honest, your best bet may be to order replacement parts on BrickLink. If you do, make sure to tell the seller to send the cloth parts in their original boxes or sandwiched between pieces of stiff cardboard for protection. I once received a LEGO cape from a BL seller who used nothing more than a grip-seal baggy and a padded envelope. The cape was heavily creased in transit. Edit: Removed suggestions to use staining/dyeing. Just realised the cloth parts are combinations of black and another colour. Staining or dyeing would ruin the black parts.
  25. Thanks For anyone who would like to create their own skeleton dwarf but is not as knowledgeable of LEGO parts as Mr Greeble, the skeleton dwarf's body is simply the new-ish light bley Nexo Bot torso used back to front. The arms and legs are light bley skeleton limbs. The head is from the CMF S14 zombie pirate, though there are other light bley heads that will do just as well. I'm hoping that TLG comes out with a white Nexo Bot torso so we can make dwarf/hobbit skeletons in white. {evil laugh}Bwahahahahaha!{/evil laugh}
