  1. I'd personally buy second hand as well. The prices will go down, as mentioned previously, and simply, just give all the pieces a clean in some soapy water with a toothbrush. You'll feel better about it too and feel its actually yours and fresh than someone elses
  2. I was given it as a Christmas present. Before, I was hesitant, but after receiving it and building it, and now being able to look/enjoy it fully built, it has pride of place next to my pc (where I spend a lot of my free time!) and so I am able to gawp at it for as long as I wish to! It really is a good model, I would say very well designed, definitely robust too. As for the blockiness, I think when you own it, you will easily look past it, and perhaps almost feel an attachment to it as I swear it could almost be a pet It is also just the right size too. Not too big that it is difficult to put anywhere, but not too small that you feel it wasn't really worth it.
  3. I found Psiaki's version to be a very good build, very accurate, and not actually too bad on strength. It is just the front end that is a little bit iffy on the structural integrity side... but nothing that wouldn't stop me getting one again if i wanted another one. Especially for display, it is perfect.
  4. Im not really understanding the 'big lego reveal' in that video... It isnt a droid mech that would be released as a set in the scale that it is in, in the video, it is no more impressive than the Luke and Darth that were behind it...
  5. I don't have the 2004 version, but I do have the 2011 version of which I found strikingly good, very playable but also well built and much nicer to look at than the 4504 version. If you can afford it, or find it on sale, I would recommend getting it!
  6. http://www.ebay.co.u...e-/191052157853 Can anyone shed light on this at all? *edit* At what point did the star wars stuff go on sale on TLG website? There is no way it all went on sale at the start of the 50% off sale... and Im starting to get sick of missing out on all the decent SW stuff that goes on sale :(
  7. I already loved your mocs... and this base just accentuates their awesomeness with such a great start to a really nice looking base for them!
  8. Oh please please please be the one person that takes it too far and builds a full size minifig scale SD!!! Back to real life, that looks really nice already and instantly recognisable, and I loved the episode where it crashed on the planet. Will you be making it clean or look like it is the crashed version?
  9. That does look a lot better regarding the angles!
  10. It wouldn't surprise me if the AT-AT was filled with pieces that could have been done with 1 part but used 2 instead, like using 2 1x1 plates instead of a 1x2 plate. I noticed they appear to be doing that with quite a few more sets recently to justify their higher price point...
  11. Oh, this looks like it could be really good! Never seen this ship until you have mentioned it and I really like the look of it. Not too sure, as I am only looking at googled images.... but Im wondering if your current nose section needs to be more pointed/longer? Or that it is just too wide at the base of the triangle sections?
  12. If this is true, with all the size discrepancies I wonder what size they will settle for?
  13. I see where you are coming from, but I disagree. Minifigs like the pilot can only be upgraded/improved pretty much by their printing. Models can be improved by different bricks. A minifig is still a minifig but can be vastly improved by printing. An X-wing regardless of design or pieces, is still an X-Wing, but can be vastly improved by different bricks. Im sure you have probably bought more than 1 different X-Wing because it has been improved?
  14. 1 Hours worth of petrol or travel costs Anyhoos, I have a question. Is there anyone here that plays or know someone that plays SW:TOR online, and has access to the Sith Fury Class Interceptor ingame?
  15. Im surprised this thread hasn't been started earlier! Great idea! I'll certainly be looking this thread up when I start bricklinking mine =D
  16. but they didnt make a UCS AT-AT, nor a Death-Star type Cloud City playset
  17. I don't get why people are commenting on 'ohh I don't like this aspect of this particular set' or 'that bit doesn't look right' or 'it doesn't look like it does this or it can do this or it looks exactly the same'. Since when was http://i.imgur.com/02FuUVq.jpg exactly the same as http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Utapau-Troopers-75036?fromListing=listing?? They're prelims. Wait until official pictures start coming out before you start criticising
  18. Thislooks really nice and simple, yet detailed enough for its size. Something I struggle to work with at this size is showing the right amount of detail. Yo have pulled it off well! But I do agree about the cockpit, that jumped out at me. Just a tad bigger :) *edit* oops need to refresh before posting :P Good outcome on the cockpit, Im not sure im a fan of the tiled wings, perhaps tile just the gray bits and see how that looks as well? It is difficult at this size, I don't envy you! But you are sooo nearly there!
  19. Personally, I would start off with a vehicle. Such as the Wookiee Catamaran. Try and design it yourself. Then design the scenery around it of what ground surface this vehicle could be going across, then expand from there. The problem (I personally am not a fan of) is MoCs that rely on TLG sets plonked in some manner in some nicely made scenery. That is all it essentially becomes, a MoC of scenery as the vehicles weren't your own creation. With starting off with a vehicle, when you get that right, and then create scenery to go with it, a great sense of satisfaction is felt as not only does the scenery accentuate the models that are in it, but the models are highlighted by the great scenery to which draws peoples attention further as they aren't typical lego sets. Then it becomes a 'wow' factor kind of thing... if you understand? But that's just my humble opinion
  20. Absolutely no criticism, that looks really well done!
  21. What have you got to be not happy about?! Just look at the past umpteen waves brought out. Barely any OT at all. Its about time CW/PT was given a break!
  22. Congrats on the Death Star (and the millennium falcon to the guy at the top of this page!), I absolutely LOVED building the DS. Even just holding the box of it was soo overwhelmingly awesome. It is one of the few lego sets where the box is literally filled to the brim with no spare space available which made my smile that much bigger! The build was also good fun. On topic, for Christmas from my much loving girlfriend, the Ewok Village and Jedi Defender-class Cruiser... with more yet to come tomorrow! Im just kind of gobsmacked at the moment :s
  23. Wow, really?! That really is done well! And from only the bricks in the A-Wing set! Superbly recreated!
  24. (absolutely nothing personal here) Im never really a fan of the 'pilot lying down' cockpits, but this one also flies away from the direction he may possibly be able to see if he sat more upright? (If I am interpreting the design correctly? I do really like the incorporation of the droid and how it is done. The larger engine with the 6x6 slotted radar dish, Perhaps maybe build the engine out a bit to gradually meet the 6x6 diameter of the dish? I completely see where you were coming from with this design, and I think you have made a great model, but I can't help wonder if you literally kept 'too' close to an exact dimension of an F... if you know what I mean? I'm finding it difficult to put into words... I guess what I'm trying to say is it's really good but something just isn't quite meshing with me about it
  25. Ahhh, ok, thanks. Wonder why they done it only in those countries
