  1. I thought about that but I didnt want to spam the thread with pics >.< Is it possible to get a parts list from LDD for my project? Ive had a look but I can only see how to get the build instructions etc (which make me lol the way it decided to put it together :P)
  2. Ok, finished the head now! ****updated pics into the first post**** (if i should be posting them in this post, please let me know :) Added the bits to the rear interior walls, figured out a way to attach the top of the rear wall to the side walls and get the roof lifting up nicely while having it finish at the very rear, not 2 studs short like in the first pics i posted, also completed the underside cannons after some very difficult work of it :o Mainly figuring out how to do the rear 'wheel' bit of the cannons... And yes, there is 4 pistons on the rear of the head ;) Im hoping I can get that idea to work for the neck, but I havnt started it yet, so we shall see! Can anyone tell me how to extract the parts list for it from LDD? Ive managed to get the auto instructions to be made (although slightly bugged half way through, but manageable :P)
  3. bwah! It looks fantastic! I <3 the wings, theylook sooo clean cut! and the body is done so well too! great job =D
  4. I have to say, i couldnt be happier with the interior =D took some figuring out about the front console too, because of the little lever block that is in the middle of the front console, the holo thing took some doing too.. but <3 it =D Still not too keen on the front viewing hole though :<
  5. This was my first attempt at using LDD. You should have seen the sides of the head initially... then you'd see I was a failure then too xD Dont give up on LDD, its actually a pretty decent but easy tool to use, it just takes determination, and a bit of time :) There is NO way I could design this if I had to order bricks because my spare lego amount is very minimal. This way it allows me to reach the ends of Lego and back again =D Dont give up! @northern star Yes, that is what I had intended to do, as I <3 minifig scale vehicles, and the AT-AT is such an iconic vehicle that I really love, and it as so much possibility to do awesome little features on it. The screen is supposed to be a projected holographic screen, its the best I could think of :( Still need help on connecting the top of the rear wall to the side armour plates though!
  6. It is entirely possible, but I just wanted something to go by, as I was keen to get started... Then I saw how many minifig items there were, so i just went with what I could get ^_^
  7. OK, so I was going to do my first MOC as a Landspeeder, and I had never used LDD before so was going to attempt it on that. However I got shown a link to an awesome moc of a landspeeder to which I would love to bricklink the pieces and build it... meaning it would not be my own design.... Back to the drawing board! So I have been contemplating wanting to make my own AT-AT minifig scale, and I have always thought I would start at the head as it is a pretty simple place to start from, as well as the fact that I am completely new to actual MOC's, I have little to no knowledge/skill in techniques in putting things together to hold strongly (you will see a couple of examples!). I am to do the neck next, then the lower body, then the upper body, then the belly, then the legs. (I have ordered 2 snowtrooper battlepacks so I can have a couple troops and 2 land speeder thingys to put inside it xD) So, Ive set about by starting with the floor of the head. I then figured out how to put the front armour plate on, and make the viewing hole... I then made the interior to what it currently is, and then took the seriously arduous task of making the side armour plates as well as putting them at all the correct angles... That took FOREVER!!! the twisting, and turning, and tilting and not moving because it is hitting invisible brick edges <.> (((I don't like the front viewing hole as it is atm, so if anyone has any ideas Im willing to listen... I just hope i don have to resort to starting the front from scratch and then going the SNOT route :( But i will if it works!))) Anyways, I shall now link to some pics of my progress! But quickly, I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to strengthen the top of the rear wall as it is not actually joined to anything like the side walls, it is just built from the floor up, with the lifting tilting up roof... PS, the bricks are dark and light grey because it helps me to define the different bricks easier while in LDD, but this will be made from Light gray, not bluish (mainly to save on monees :P) Random bit of info, 309 pieces used so far ^_^ ***edit: top 2 pics are newest update of head complete. Is it possible to get a part list from LDD? If so, how?**** Please, ANY help is appreciated!
  8. Lol, a novel idea =D CT-1127-1984 Reporting, Sir!
  9. Our argos (UK) had them pretty much at the beginning of January and were selling them too... Toys R Us have just gotten these in, probably about a week ago/ish... im rather surprised Lego S@H are waiting until the 31st January, they are losing sales by doing this imo :o
  10. Dammit! I am trying to hold off buying one of these until funds become more readily available to me, but every time I see a pic of one, with up close shots makes me want it even more! Brilliant pics =D Have to say though, not too keen on the rear of the Tie fighter body bubble, it appears too kind of.... 'it'll do' kind of thing... but that's the brilliance of Lego, room for changes =D
  11. Also, on the yellow skin tone point, I thought it was used because it's a "generic" skin tone. Though effective in licensed themes, flesh-coloured minifigs in all themes would look really odd. The thing is, and this is what really gets me. There are soooo many colours in the spectrum that it is probably near impossible to find the EXACT middle of the range of colours between every skin tone. I challenge anyone here to define the middle/neutral between yellow/black/brown/pink/white/red/orange. Where is the middle in that? Mix them all together and see what colour appears? <.> Whatever colour they chose was going to be wrong regardless. If they chose to implement a colour tone for each race available it would cause even more racial inequality in my opinion as it is then targeting different races and stereotyping them. Do you expect them to decide that the same sets that contain yellow minifigs should be filled with brown minifigs too for the eastern/african countries? Which means making the same sets include multiple skintoned minifigs? What about if an african person wanted to have a chinese person themed minifig, or a westerner themed minifig? so TLG should make multiple sets with every racial skintone available? Do you see how silly/rediculous and unmanageable this is getting? They chose one colour as basic minifig skin colour and stuck with it. It doesnt matter if they initially chose brown and stuck with that, there would be outcry regardless what colour they went with. They are trying to be as neutral as they can, while managing a toy that is freely playable for everyone to enjoy without offending people. Unfortunately these days everyone jumps on the bus to yell about some sort of inequality/human rights breach and so this whole nanny state of affairs begins. I personally dont disagree with the recent flesh tones: brown/western pink etc because they are representing actual characters that people want to identify with and so to do so, have to match more closer. But I do disagree with people expecting TLG to bend over and cater to every damned outcry that there is.
  12. *edited out to remove double post from thread merged*
  13. Thank you! I did try to search for it but ocnfused exactly where to put my thoughts on it :( I can repost in your link if you like? Dammit where is the delete thread button... I have reposted my post in that Vote thread =D
  14. Why people are pointing the finger at TLG for creating a bigger gender gap, and not the parents for stereo typing their kids into which toys are 'their (gender decided) type' is beyond me. All TLG are doing is trying to reach into the female market of lego to bring the females into what has naturally become a male orientated dominant market. Why has it? Because of Parents/society's stereotyping creating a guide to a child's instinct of what to them is acceptable. Once they have reached out to the females, they will then ascertain (through their researchers, because despite the outcry at gender gapping, imho they are actually trying to close this, by having to DEFINE where it is first by reaching to the extreme opposite, to set the very basic start line) whether they would prefer more technical builds, or easier ones they can just whack together to play with. It has for ages been a known fact more boys like lego than girls, and that a lot of sets were marketed/aimed at boys once it became recognised more boys preferred lego than girls. It has been this way for years. How is a company supposed to combat stereotyping? By bringing it to a definition in which it can then be tweaked to make both genders acceptable of enjoying lego at their own choice. It is rather hypocritical yelling gender targeting when something is made to be aimed at females, when those creating the fuss are actually promoting stereotyping by defining it as a female only item. (Rhetoricly)Why are Friends female orientated? What **IS** wrong with a male playing with the Friends themed lego sets? If you do see a problem with it, then you are the cause of this stereotyping problem which has caused this 'gender gap'. If you do not see a problem with males playing with it, then you have accepted that it is for males to play with too and thus there can not be an issue for a gender gap as it is seen as an acceptable unisex toy. Its ok, I have my flame suit on :) I am entirely open to opinions and having mine changed if I see a justifiable opinion which shows im thinking wrong :) But I currently do not think I am ;)
  15. Thats coming along great! The front cabin is looking neat too =D Ive just realised it has the lifting mechanism that it can be lifted by the dropship with... will you be losing that to make the interior more... interior like?
  16. My god! If I could have built one half as good :o From the looks of it, he has had to use the 3x6's to keep the higher ridge in line with the outer wedge plate, otherwise it would start touching at the outer tip, and then gradually pull away giving the contour of the apex of the 2 front wedge plates on either side a 'mediocre' finished look. I do see your point though, as they do go back too far...
  17. I would like to attempt to build a Snowspeeder from scratch. Preferably one slightly larger than the current lego version, that can comfortably fit pilot/co-pilot. I am absolutely fine at modding things with a current building skeleton (like an AT-TE has a basic frame to which everything is attached) I just can not quite get how or where to start from scratch for this idea... my lego supply is limited so it would probably have to evolve from my head initially and then multiple bricklink orders... but I just dont know how to start best... I need help in learning this (I understand inspiration cannot be taught, only thought up) but perhaps a point in the right direction if someone would know? I have downloaded LDD and would like to perhaps use this to help, but it appears so daunting, especially as I do not know the names, or even the extent of range of bricks available to use :( Here is an example of my current ability at modification skills on an AT-TE... ( I am currently playing around with making the side/rear armour plates SNOT bricks) Link to my flickr, ARC republic gunship modifications: more pics of the AT-Te are also found there! Please, any C&C is hugely appreciated.
  18. For some reason, I am strongly reminded of Spaceballs looking at this MOC! I absolutely loved that part of the film and this brings back good memories =D (It is also brilliantly pulled off as an ISD deck =D)
  19. It does look a lot better to me too =D I love modding, and love doing things like this, that give a more (personally) 'realistic' feel to it, as well as fiting more minifigs. Im not too keen on this set in all honesty, as I prefer more scaled things, but I would be interested in your mods to see its finished potential! Pics when finished please =D (I agree with you that the underside needs modding to lose the skinny look to its undercarriage too) Oh, for the guy on the left (with the 2 control arm things)(could also work for the other guy with the 2x2 sloping 45 brick with the 1x2 tile on top) what I often do with the 1x2 control panel tiles, is mount them on the 1x2 hinge bricks (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3937) I find that these give a nice angle to them one way or another. Just a suggestion ofc =D
  20. Woah! How I didn't see this thread.... I recently done the same... What are these 60 light bluish grey levers? When I did my MF list on BL it added up to about £900+ and I hadnt even finished adding parts... How on earth are you guys able to figure out the list to come to roughly 500 euros without actually placing the order while having the orders in separate places from BL? I also do multiple lists. One is the wanted list with all parts, one is empty. Once I have received the parts, I move the parts that are actually ordered and on their way to me, into the second list, so the parts are not deleted, just moved. Takes a while but I feel safe knowing I have the list still in place should i need to reorder anything ^_^ I was unable to get this awesome set due to not being back into lego at the time (let alone having the money available)... Now that I am, I realised what I missed out and to fork out hundreds more is my only option atm :( I am quite familiar with BL so if anyone is able to help me in understanding how to get the price down to 500 without having actually made all them seperate orders, please let me know! quoting Blondie-wan: *I've never really gotten how "collectible" has somehow become synonymous with "rare." Something common can still be collected - indeed, it can be collected even more. The fact that something might be plentiful doesn't mean it can't be collectible (I do of course recognize not everyone will agree).* This^^^^^ Totally this^^^^^ The whole UCS is in definition, an item that is THE ultimate lego item to own from that theme, should you have an interest in that theme. It is nothing to do with rareness or guaranteed non re-release at a future date. It is just a name stating it is a *must have* if you like that theme. Lego is designed and produced to be enjoyed, not to be bought and resold... that is just a by-product of peoples... greediness/desire to make money an easy way to fund further lego funds or w/e reason... You buy it, at RISK. Knowing Lego's history at re-releasing sets. If they do, you buy it knowing the price you intend to sell it, will drop. There is no one to blame but yourself. If you want to make money from selling that won't incur a price drop, invent something yourself that will hold its price because you *solely* hold the design patent for it. It is these reasons imo, that cloud peoples judgement. Why does there have to be a reason for people to say 'it should/shouldn't be released'? Lego is a community. Why feel it is correct to exclude people from parts of it just because you are older/better off financially than the less fortunate? At the end of the day if there is a demand high enough, there is nothing injustifiable in supplying that demand.
  21. You can bet that if Lego did make this, it wouldn't be as detailed, and neither would it be worked as SNOT, giving less inspiring thoughts about its great design. Great work =D
  22. Hey people! my name is sam, and I am from the UK, but just call me Fuppy :P Anyhoos, only really got into Star Wars lego a year ago, and I am gutted at the amount of awesome lego I have missed out on! I was always an avid collector of random lego when I was a kid, now I am 27 , I rekindled my love for lego with the Republic Dropship... There onwards it grew :o I don't have too many hobbies to be honest, but Star Wars lego is currently my #1 =D I enjoy modding, however as my supply of lego is limited pretty much to the complete sets I have bought to build my collection (as well as an incorrect order of light gray lego I ordered instead of light bluish gray... oh my £60 ignorance at the colour difference lol), as well as hitting a brick wall for thinking what on earth I could attempt to create, I have yet to do any actual MOCs... I have a rather neatly modified AT-TE which spacily holds 29 troopers in total, a modified version of Chris Chambers ARC republic dropship, and well, mainly Clone Wars things at the moment, although I am waiting for Toys R us to get stock of the new Tie fighter/X wing because they do jump out at me =D Anyhoos theres a little insight into my enjoyment of it, I hope to learn a lot more about Star Wars lego and hopefully I will manage to sometime build a MOC that will be good enough to post here! Many thanks Fuppy
  23. Hey people, I was wondering if anyone has a parts list for the UCS Y-Wing (10134)... After seeing the latest release, I'm feeling a little deflated in getting it (minifigs are awesome though), mostly because I think I would prefer such an iconic ship to be more to scale... I'm toying with the idea of making one, but Im wondering if it would work out cheaper to buy a complete one, or parts from a parts store... Many thanks in advance :)
  24. Hi, how much for the 8 clone troopers? I have an AT-OT to fill =D And what about the AT-TE too? (UK price :) )
