LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Fuppylodders replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wonder how irritated TLG actually are by this. I mean, they're selling a product that isn't the same as what their product is supposed to represent. Sure, it is very similar, but they must be thinking that there is potential to lose sales from those that would choose not to buy the shuttle because it is not an exact representation of what is seen in the film...? -
Mini MOC - Death Star Trench Run
Fuppylodders replied to GeneralWashington420's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I clicked it half expecting to be sent to a russian dating website or something :s The build itself is nice, and makes for a good little desk top moc. I would have gone for a 2x2 tile on top of the little turret rather than the 2x2 round plate (but that's just me) and perhaps a little bit more texture on the wall. Other than that, good job! Now it just needs a TIE following it :P As mentioned above though, while pictures can say a thousand words, just a few for a slight description/background might help a little :) -
Why would it be both? How? Speaking of the moc, I love it! It is totally in keeping with the opening scene theme and the way you have done the couch looks just perfect! I can imagine the couch becoming Professor Frinks pet!

While I agree with most of what you say, I think the size is not as far from it as you are making it out to be. Of course if you add a minifig sat on it, it will look a bit daft, but that is purely because a minifig cant straddle the seat like a real person can. Thi is where compromise comes into it. Jayden appears to have gone for more details rather than having a minifig perhaps stand in it which would allow it to 'sink into' the model better rather than be perched on top, but would then have to lose detail of where the minifig would be sat. It is never an easy thing to get right on such a small vehicle, and compromise will always rear its unwanted ugly head one way or another. I think he has done a good job regardless. Minifig sizing issues on large vehicles can often be lost one way or another, or be minimised. Small vehicles such as this just exacerbate the issues of minifig sizing, which will always make it difficult to get things 'perfect' to some, and not to others.

I think you've got it pretty spot on in the size department, and in the details. I can see how the size can appear larger/smaller etc, but I think you make a good point about the 1.5 length of the figure to the length. Do you know if your version can be made using just the pieces from the set? *edit* While I agree with you Jacob that using minifigs to compare isn't the best way to specifically try and replicate ssomething, I think this specific vehicle is small enough that it can be 'gotten away with' for the most part. Looking at that pic, I also do agree with you that it could be 1 brick taller (in the SNOT sense). I just tried it in LDD, and it raises the height to look more in proportion when comparing with the picture of Rey sat on it and the guy stood next to it.

I don't think the year difference makes any difference to his point he was making. He had it close enough we knew what he was talking about. I know what you mean Lynx, I intend on getting this, as I'm starting to think it's actually 'ok' value for money, considering the new helmet mould and the new cockpit mould-with printing. And I look forward to trying to mod it so the wings sit flush with each other when closed.

My attempt at a 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon!

Biscuit and sweet tins of the metal kind (plastic Celebrations tubs are useless). Lots of them! I find them really useful and they come in all sorts of sizes, so i just separate my pieces to suit the biscuit tins i have. But starting off, probably by plates, bricks, colours, technic beams, then splitting the plates into sub sections, like 1 wide plates, 2 wide plates etc... It all depends on your available storage space. Keep any 1x1/1x2/1x3's separate as well as other small parts as they can be a pain in the behind trying to find them amongst lots of other pieces. -

I wonder if they'll be able to hit stuff they shoot at. I think that will be the defining difference deciding who is more badass :p -
I think you have designed a really decent ship here. I also thought the engine was done really well, i mean, every large ship should uave an engine full of greebles n stuff! I do agree with Krisandkris about the plastic wheels though, its like you spent so much effort on the ship, and just settled for an easy solution for round thrusters with the wheels. Look at Bob de Quatre's ships thrusters for inspiration, he always nails them, round brick built, perfectly. Seeing your ship, i know you have the ability to do it! I also really like the interior (i love ships with interiors) and that you even managed to squeeze some bunk beds in there :D Look forward to seeing more from you!

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Fuppylodders replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I am worried that because the carbon chamber is part of what sooo many people uave been wanting for absolute ages, that people will be expecting sooo much from it despite knowing it is only $25, that it will get so much criticism against it that it will be unfairly written off as a poor attempt. I know itbis far too early to say this without any further info on it, but you see it happen so much, i dont want amy potential chamce ofnfuture cloud city sets being potentially written off because of the unjust negativity... -

A mod is definitely on the cards for it for sure. It is the only thing preventing it looking perfect to represent the ship it is supposed to. It will also be interesting to see how other people achieve it, that at some point, the perfect method will become apparant that will be *the* way to fix what TLG didnt, that it will be the method most people will use... Like lots of people who want the ultimate looking x-wing, have mike psiaki's version (me included :p) -

Here in the UK, prices appear to be close to 10p (or 10 American cents) per piece ratio... As far as I was aware (correct me if I'm wrong), wasn't that the sort of benchmark to tell if a set is priced averagely or not? Is it more where the Euro, Australian/Canadian/other random country prices are concerned that they seem inflated? -

Bob highlighted the important part, thank you Benderisgreat for proving my point :) *edit* @Nokturn, maybe I misunderstood it slightly... *but* then you missed part of what I said, about TLG sets being fine to talk about but then people go all indepth talking about all sorts of other things completely irrelevant to the rumoured sets, *just because* it is about TFO, thinking they have a right to talk about something which is irrelevant to the thread. *goes back in cave* -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Fuppylodders replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
And thats the problem of peoples differing opinions. Thats how you see spoilers, but Bob sees spoilers as anything with any information. But those that see such things as a trailer or any 'information that is easily obtainable out there' is free pickings to talk about regardless of anyone elses take on what a spoiler is. A trailer shows clips from the film so spoils not knowing what a particular character looks like. It spoils the background setting. It spoils that there will be a particular battle in a particular setting. But to some people, thats not spoilers, so screw those people that do see it, they should bugger off and go cold turkey on technology, even though THIS THREAD may be the only thing that they interact with that has the potential to spoil anything. But its cool because its our fault for understanding spoilers as anything that reveals any images or scenes/names etc. I mean, you guys have a right to be arrogant and determine who gets to know what because this thread is a picture and rumour thread which will reveal spoilers of certain things (understandably), but that just really means people can talk about anything irrelevant to the title and talk about plots, characters, wish lists and anything else that takes your fancy just because... Well... You want to. And why not? You people are more important than those that see spoilers as almost any info pertaining to the film outside of Lego related subjects. Yes. Im out of my cave. -
10228. Brick link or buy used or skip

Maybe try a dark red? I have no idea as to the commonness of the 1x1/4/6's in dark red, but that would be a just as good colour to use if they are a viable option...? *edit* Apart from the inverted 1x2 slope (not available in dark red), the bricks are easily attainable if you did the house in dark red. That would be my personal choice if I was looking to do the house in a costly manner. -

Exactly this. People are so used to leaks, they feel they deserve them. What if... A company just wanted to do its best to let hype occur when they release them at a time of their choosing? What does it matter not being able to talk about them for... Get this... TWO MORE WEEKS!!! Who is so damned bloody impatient they cant wait 2 weeks and feel they must talk now about it?! No, it doesnt really make sense when they have leaked... But that is their choice. Im looking forward to getting multiples of one set for sure, for my first time getting multiples of a set other than battle packs... But its cool, they arent going anywhere before they get released. Seriously. Its 2 bloody weeks. Keep your knickers on. -
They're too big, but still cute nonetheless I really like your Landing Craft, and especially the fact it comes with little MTT's inside it =D It certainly captures the essence of it very well, and it looks really sleek too =D Good job!

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Fuppylodders replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Id also be interested to know this, as my intention is to buy it in February -
I'm kind of disappointed as I was excited to see what new WV set this year would bring after having got every set previous for my girlfriend. But, at the same time, I am happy for those that will have a chance to get this after not getting it the first time around. I just don't get the whole 'collectible' thing around Lego. Being a hobby doesn't change the meaning of 'collectible'. Every single piece of lego produced, every single set is a 'collectible', as people... collect it. That doesn't mean that particular product should never be made ever again so that those 'collectors' can rejoice how they have something that time/circumstances prevented someone else from getting back then. It simply means it is something made for someone to enjoy that people might start collecting other types of that hobby item (Lego in this case). Having a 'collection' doesn't imply having every item that is rare. Limited Edition is where something should not be reproduced again, and should be the rare item you want to obtain. It simply means a group of stuff. Why some people get sooo butthurt over it is beyond me. I collect for me, for my own enjoyment, not so I have something someone else doesn't. If that is part of your enjoyment of the hobby, that you have something that someone else doesn't... Well, that's a not very nice side to you, and it's best to keep it to yourself.

This thread proves nothing of the sort. A company can't do something controversial, and expect everyone to be happy. That's like making Episode 1 and expecting absolutely everyone to love it.

I was thinking along the lines of the 2 fires either side, and the great big storm trooper head referring to when dorothy (wizard of oz) and her friends went before the 'great wizard' when he was hiding behind the great projected head... Ill have to look out for this 'Attack on Titan'... It does look good either way though :)
