  1. I think the Endorsed set did well enough (no evidence to back up my opinion) based on people's reviews of the set. One player did good, the other will bomb. As mentioned, it was more the execution of the set rather than the scene setting and playset type itself. I'd welcome it in the quality of the Deathstar or Endor, but not similar to Hoth.
  2. Ahh, thank you for clearing that up for me!
  3. I have to say, I am impressed, they certainly have gotten most of the curves in the set which does look really good! Only the rear boot lid slightly niggles me as it just looks too flat still, but I can understand how difficult it is and appreciate they've done pretty much as best as can be done in Lego. I do think this has been done better to the true beetle than the mini cooper set was. Being a mini fan, I just didn't feel it captured the curves of the front end or the roof well. One thing I do wonder though... in this set they have included multiple printed pieces, including the VW badge which is great! But in the Ferarri set it was just stickers? I feel kinda let down slightly more now with regards to the Ferarri stickers Even though the Ferarri set is exceptional as well. Why printed pieces in this set and not the Ferarri I wonder? Considering the new part AND the many new coloured existing pieces, yet same price point, and a couple more pieces (negligible, admittedly).
  4. But we know ourselves that it isn't just AFOL's that buy the parted out minifigs. Minifigs are extremely popular with the children/young teens, and they will most certainly get their fair share of them through resellers. No one said it is just AFOL's that are buying the resold minifigs.
  5. Do you not think they do their market research? While I don't believe they base it 100% on resellers, I can guarantee there is a % of pricing that has been affected due to research on resellers and what they get, while still trying to show some sort of good value. Do you really think Lego do NOT pay attention to the value to which people are willing to pay for a parted out minifigure and then ignore the fact they are literally doing themselves out of money, which after all, is exactly why they are in the business, to make money??
  6. Being a 31 year old male, into Star Wars, who happens to like dragons, I've only recently started *looking* at the Elves sets because of the dragons they have included, which I think are actually pretty nifty builds. Then I see this castle and think to myself: This looks pretty damned sweet! I'm looking forward to the possibility of an evil dragon too... I really like the build of this, it has a lot going on in it, I think Ragana's minidoll is nicely detailed and portrays an 'evil' elf accurately, this set, as mentioned, adds a whole new level of badness to the Elves line which makes it more interesting, and I think the colour palette for this works extremely well! I have started buying Elves stuff for a MoC I am doing so will be using the parts... but I am seriously tempted to get this castle for... making as a set, as I really like it! Hope they go further with this sub-theme of Elves and dragons.
  7. I'm actually quite happy this did, I think it is a pretty good model designed well with the modularity of it. I'm also surprised they chose it considering how big it is, I just hope they don't make it much smaller, if at all.
  8. Ahh.... thank you
  9. I'm trying to find the sub part of this forum where I can find info out about the Elves sets as I have just noticed they have a really nice new castle out for them as well as 3 other sets... was wondering where their area in this forum is? (I searched and it just comes up with christmas elves etc...)
  10. Interesting, I thought it was 'combat' after seeing it written somewhere in the recent 'info leak' about it... Where did you see it mention it meaning 'cargo'? Pretty sure I read somewhere also, that the AT-AT could also carry I think 1 or 2 AT-ST's in a modified interior version of it... So that doesn't really bear much difference.
  11. It looks extremely similar to an AT-AT. Regardless of what is ever so slightly different to give it a new name, it is essentially probably 90% the same as an AT-AT. And so the lego version will look pretty much exactly the same too, minus the chin guns, and probably 2 or 4 1x1 trans tiles to represent the wider front viewport. Nothing significant, just another way to give us another AT-AT in Lego form.
  12. Ziplock bags are the way to go. Extremely cheap, and you can keep all your minifig bits with the minifig they belong to easily, and then you can do as you please with the bags. Put them in a box etc...
  13. Ahhhh! I love this!! Such a lovely mod that looks extremely well done. I have yet to finish my mod but this has inspired me to get on with it again
  14. You know what is best about this for me? Not only is it a really awesomely detailed minifig sized ship... But you have a Celica GT4 too...
  15. OK, that is brilliant! And totally in fitting with the style of their robots/vehicles/micro managers too haha! Good job
  16. That's just going to be HUGE!! But, am glad you are actually doing it in real bricks! Really can't wait for you to complete this!
  17. Ahhh, 45 minutes explains quite a lot then. So, in matter of fact, quite a lot achieved within a short time-frame.
  18. If that is the first spaceship you have built in a decade, you have some good raw talent there for ship building! It is quite unique and bug-like looking. I really like it, and the scenery too! The lighting and background just make it that much better too, well done!
  19. I never would have imagined it possible to make a stargate that small out of Lego. That's taking it to the next level of micro building!
  20. This. Very much this. If this really is the way they are expanding and actually reaching out to us in this manner, it is only an exceptionally good thing... and bad... for our wallets This could mean some amazing sets in the future in many themes.
  21. Went into Tesco yesterday and saw 1 and a half boxes, managed to get 12 unique ones. Then my mum saw the ones I had got and fell in love with 6 of them, so I came back today and there was just a handful left! Still managed to pick up 4 of the 6 she wanted, and Bagpuss for me, 5 left to get. It did add £30 to my usual £20 shopping bill though
  22. Im sure someone has already pointed this out somewhere,I've just realised, the Eclipse fighter set, the minifig comes with a standard rifle gun, no stud shooter... :)
  23. Priceless!
  24. I wanted to give it a fair chance, so I watched it all... Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: 'some idiot wants to make it into a set' The guy says he is good at mini builds, but that toilet... All I get from this guy is that he is quite condescending while trying to be slightly humourous. The music editing could do with being faded in and out a bit better rather than abruptly starting and ending. The presenter frequently looked elsewhere rather than directly at the camera, like he was talking to someone else/reading a script. I appreciate trying to create a random lego show and filling it with things to do/talk about, but I just get that this was quite rushed in the production/thought/delivery, and that the main presenter was trying to be all natural but coming across awkward. As a uni assessment, I am giving this my honest opinion/thoughts. The idea to look at Lego Ideas (mostly poor) attempts was good in itself though, I just felt it wasn't quite delivered well. Same with the speed build, but I felt I was left underwhelmed. What was the target age range of audience this was designed for? I did like the stop motion work though, good job on that!
