LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
Fuppylodders replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
While I'm hoping it is, are you people just trying to gain your 15 minutes of fame by stating what has been guessed many times by hopeful people so you can be 'one of the people that said it before it was revealed', or do you actually have a reliable source that isn't just another store employee that is actually just as knowledgeable as any other random person? Because I'm skeptical of people throwing out bold statements like that when nothing specifying what the big set is by the usual reliable leakers. -
How do you build a set flipped/mirrored?
Fuppylodders replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is often already occurring in builds of sets which has given me an understanding of how to do it for when I do my Raganas castle (have 3 sets ready for this). Things like the AT -St, it's legs are mirrored, so to save time I'll buildthem simultaneously, following the instructions for one and just mentally flipping the required pieces for the other. I'll do the same when it comes to the castle as much as I can, and use pieces from the third where it can't easily be flipped. -

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
Fuppylodders replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Its because it was a poor price per piece ratio, it was half system scale sets already released, and the other half of it was half finished modules. The ion cannon was half finished, the main door was unsightly, the trench pieces were just half complete, and there were only 2 imperials. How are you going to play a full battle with AT-AT's and snow speeders when the set didn't come with any ATAT's? Again, another half assed thing. The shield generator only had 3 module/disc parts, it is supposed to have 4. It wouldnt have taken much to give it a 4th. That is why it deserved the grief. -
The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)

Oh, most definitely, my point about the cockpit is definitely nitpicking without a doubt . It is a nice improvement, that is for sure, and I will probably end up getting it too. -
The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
Fuppylodders replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No, look at the forward support on the windscreen, it should be in line with/sat just behind the rear of the roof window (if anything, where the stickered support is on the 10-wide screen). The middle side screen is just too wide and should be half the width. There is just something completely off with the positioning/structure of the entire canopy. -

Fuppylodders replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Eh, one thing i dont like about it, its too long. Which makes the blasters look way too weedy and long... The forward mount is in the incorrect position because of this and it just irks me >.< -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Fuppylodders replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No but you heavily implied it and all but said it, specifically by what I have put in asterix's. Why would you need to 'try your luck' at buying something to which no risk is involved...? -

Don't be one of 'those' guys... If you have a broken or missing part, use it. If you don't, don't try abusing the service, it's dishonest and abusing their good will. This, I would really like to know... -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
Fuppylodders replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
SVL said it was going to be something completely new. A BB8 is completely new. BB8 doesn't need any poseability, just check out anios ucs version, it's pretty much if not, spot on all that needs to be for a UCS. Do you think they designed the SSD for 'move ability'? It's a static display piece. Just like TLG know a lot of the UCS sets are. You are taking words way too literal. The hint was purely, 'sphere'. That is all. 'think outside the...' was just a context to put it in. Just read the rest of deltacustoms and SVL's posts will at least attest to the word 'sphere' being the hint. While I personally believe it is BB8, I agree that it is not confirmed enough in their posts to guarantee that's what they are hinting at, but a trench run? I'd bet on it 100% not being that. Technically speaking the way you were trying to perceive the words to be, it can't be the trench run because the trench is in the sphere, not outside it. So by your own method, you are incorrect. -
I think there were 2 sets that I could apply this to, but one I'm OK with not uaving and the other, I ended up bricklink g as soon as I found out about bricklink! The first one was one of the original airport sets with the yellow chinook-like helicopter. I even think I remember my parents finally offering to buy it as a joint birthday/Christmas present but I turned it down knowing (back then) it's a lot of money for them. At that moment I came to peace with not having it. The next one was the larger spyrius robot. I got the smaller one and absolutely loved it, literally took it everywhere I could! Always loved the ufo saucer and the larger robot too but never got them. Got my first better than minimum wage paying job, found out about bricklink after getting out of my dark ages and splurged on the saucer and the almighty larger robot. Had the biggest grin-on a (at the time) 20 year old ?

Ahhhh this is amazing! The movement of the carts as mentioned above looks real, jolty but also smooth! I like the way they switch direction too! The whole layout has a really good vibe to it which re-enact the feeling and looks of the bumper cars just right. This really should be made into a set, but it's a shame they won't due to magnets...

I really like it! And strangely, I like the fact you've used mostly old minifigure too (if not all?) you've managed to represent a lot of scenes in a small space really well, and with just the right amount of details. Looking forward to seeing more!

Having been used to the British pricing of Lego and then seeing how the currency was strong against the dollar, which made buying in the US kind of cheaper, I'm in the position now where I'm able to buy from the US or the uk, and I find that at least on amazon, the uk site has a lot more sales, whereas the US site has less but when they do they're generally pretty worth it. They also have sales on some ucs sets (ucs tie as most recent), UK amazon practically never do. The actual TLG pricing for us sets seems quite expensive if I were to live in the US with US average wages and health insurance to pay etc, but even with the drop in value of the £, pricing in the uk still seems reasonably good. I just find it odd :o

[UCS] [WIP] [MOC] Venator Class Star Destroyer
Fuppylodders replied to Ellisss_2's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This looks really good and I envy those that take on such a sizeable project to success. Yours looks to be easily worthy, good job so far, I look forward to seeing it complete! One thing that I have noticed purely because of what was just pointed out about the back wings and can be seen in the pictures, you can see they actually stick out further than the back corner of the front section, if you know what I mean? Additionally, the area right inbetween, where the little landing bay is, appears too long on your one. It appears as though those back wings should end up being longer from length going front to rear, than the little area between is. But I am saying that purely judging by the linked source picture. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
Fuppylodders replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the best thing they could do would be do do just this, but design it so the interior is a blank canvas so it can be modded easily to have one added in if we so wish to. That means the exterior would get it's detailing and size it deserves, while allowing those of us that want an interior to bear the additional cost we are willing to pay for it to add one into it. Everyone would be happy... except for scalpers of course! -
Hey, so it seems bricklink has gone through a whole host of changes since I used it last (it was still in the original format last I used it). Good thing is you can drag and drop files straight to the site, providing the database has the parts in it. Anyhow, I uploaded an lxf file to a wanted list, which uploaded successfully. I noticed there is a wanted column and a 'have' column or tab, where you can put down how many of that part you have. But every time I try editing my wanted list I get an error message saying that only one of each part in each colour can be added to the list. Nothing is duplicated, I'm just trying to put a number in the 'have' tab, I can't even edit the amount required in my wanted list. Anyone else had this problem?

Ok so this leaves a question begging to be asked. This proves a decent tie bomber can be made as a system set, why hasn't TLG done this already?! I really like it, it looks clean, uncluttered, just the right details, tidy, and looks pretty solid (is it solid?) excellent t job! What is the interior like? Is the structure inside the bomb pod bit empty or full of beams etc holding it together?

What sets do you think are a good investment right now?
Fuppylodders replied to Lasivian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I saw that at least in the uk, the fairground mixer showed as retiring soon. I'd grab that first, especially as it looks like it has a lot of fun different and interesting builds with lots of features (not sure what ticks your boxes). But personally, the architecture sets don't interest me in the slightest, so I'm afraid I can't comment on when they will be retiring. -
[MOC] Mon Calamari MC35 Destroyer Escort
Fuppylodders replied to ProvenceTristram's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think Mon Calamari ships in Lego being 'quite difficult' is an understatement, Id say it would be really difficult to do one justice. But I see here a perfect representation of it being done justice! I normally find pure curved exteriors to be quite bland, but yours is spot on, and I really like it. I like the section two thirds to the back too, the control tower area looks tidy, and its pretty nifty that you've fitted a nice compactinterior into it. Excellent job! -
And if you review my post, you'll see I said that using facial features to differentiate can also be claimed as sexism. As I said, why be offended about the visible waist but not eyelashes or lips? Nowadays I've seen men with visibly longer lashes than some women, and naturally, lips that look more defined than women's. Why is it OK to differentiate women with visible lips and eyelashes when not every woman wears make up? That's sexism just as much as the waist line is. Don't claim they are separate issues, they aren't. Ok, so why does the trapezoidal shape have to be defined as male by default? Because one of them has to be, to help show gender differentiation. It just so happened that back when it first occurred, it was probably the first solution that came to their minds (first, not easiest). If they chose it to be the woman as the default shape, then you would be happy and fine with it? Which then would give me justification to cry sexism? It's petty. Don't just cherry pick. If you are going to be offended about one part of something, then do it properly and call in every aspect of it. Don't just pick what suits you and brush off everything else that falls under the same category as acceptable when it falls under the same category of image. Otherwise you lose all credibility straight from the start in your argument. And I've just thought... You choose to be offended about TLG showing a visible curvy waist which in women is factually natural biologically, but are ok with them using superficially enhanced lips and eyelashes which women apply to appear more feminine and use to look 'prettier' because of social pressures and possible insecurities which is a much larger part of sexism and society? You amaze me.
-
Its not just referring to Lego specifically (although I have seen a similar argument about the Friends line separating target audiences by gender when Lego should be a gender neutral toy where society as a majority discern it to be not... I'm just a bit like 'why do people have to find something to be offended about that is so miniscule, actually irrelevant to discrimination purely because biologically as a matter of fact, not opinion, women DO have curvier waists than guys in general. Men don't have 'birthing hips', women do. TLG clearly chose this clearly biological difference as a reference for people to be able to differentiate female figs from male figs. So you tell me what would make the perfect female fig, because I can guarantee right now I will 100% be able to pick it to pieces as being sexism purely using your style of opinion on it. And that right there is the problem. Nowadays it's too easy to claim sexism when it's actually just not there. Eyebrow raising? Acting like TLG have been writing policy for the Taliban? Exaggerating much? It's not a freakout, it's because as a whole, people are fed up of others picking holes and claiming sexism on every corner of opportunity. As I said, you tell me how you would differentiate a female fig (and, let's throw in a male fig, just to balance the 'sexism and default sex' issue) and I'll point out how it's sexism using your style of view, resulting in it being impossible to create 2 opposite gendered figs without apparent sexism being evident.
