  1. Thanks for the info. The closest store is 6,5 hrs away by train (one way), and I just returned from the trip a couple hours ago (it started at midnight), so I'm not in the mood to go back there soon. (more in the mood to sleep in). Also, I forgot to ask about the promo box, and the lady at the counter didn't said anything. To stay on topic, I got two big and one small cup at PAB, and I was quiet happy with the selection. Got some usefull bricks for my next 'experiment'. The bricks need to be sorted, so I'll post pics later. In case anyone is interested, I updated the Munich's wall at BrickBuildr. EDIT: So, I've finally made it through the PAB cups. In total, 3 big and 1 small cup were full. I had very little time to fill them, so I could probably stuff them better. Anyway, here are the pictures.
  2. It's fantastic. The scene is well known and instantly recognizable. You made some reall nice trees, and really caught the spirit. Well done!
  3. Thanks for the info. When does the holiday box promo starts? In November?
  4. I made to 24 first time, then recounted them to 26, but I'm not sure about the pedals though... The organs are amazing! They're very detailed and really look real. I'm fascinated by the parts used for this. With the exception of the (unknown number) microfigs, all the parts look common enough, but combined they create a spectacular view. Well done!
  5. I'm fairly new to buying LEGO at the official stores. Just curiosity, how do you 'qualify' for holiday box promos?
  6. A lovely house. I like some of the details on the facade, like the arch at the basement level, and sand green texture. Too bad those arches on the roof windows are not in sand green. The interiors is great as well, only the shark might be scaring people away. :-)
  7. Your houses are great. To me, they have a 'Scandinavian' feel, and I can easily imagine myself enjoying a summer in one of those. The colours are great. White trim is perfect with both sand green and blue, and the textured bricks add a nice touch. The best thing about the houses is their style. Although similarly built, they each have something built differently. I like the way you build the roof, and I'm wondering, are the round bricks on top of the roof attached to something?
  8. What fantastic start to a MOC! I agree with others...The tower is great, and DC's Guide inspired many wonderful medieval MOCs. The plants around the tower give a great effect. And use of plates and mostly 1x1 round plates is great for a curved walls. For the roof, I'd go with red/dark red combination, with majority in dark red, or the other way around db grey/black. It would give more texture. Wonder what it looks like now. The windows are amazing. Great way to position them upside-down to cover the gaps. Although, I like them with gold lattice, I think it goes well with reddish brown and tan. Looking forward to see more from you.
  9. I'd go with Tower Bridge - it's a nice build, and excellent parts pack with many specific bricks for detailing. And you'd get some VIP points with the buy, that you can use later for other sets. Also, it's the 'oldest' of the three, and there are chances you can get the other too later.... Go with it! Helm's Deep is great - I mean, I got it for the pieces, and sold the minifigs on BL almost instantly. It's a nice parts pack for castle, and it's worth geting it for a reasonable price.
  10. It happens to me, too. Everytime I start building another modular building, I 'run out' of some specific bricks I need. And when bricklinking, I almost always go for some extra bricks. But I started with only 2 Creator sets, and now my collection is much bigger. Finishing my first castle diorama, I actually ran out of baseplates (so I got to extras ). Other than that, I try to work around when I'm stopped for lack of bricks. Sometimes it works with other parts, sometimes it doesn't. All in all, it's all about self-discipline. Start small, and learn your way up - this way you really get to know well what are your favourite/most useful bricks/colour and it's not so heavy on your budget.
  11. A very nice scene. Landscape is great, and the ruined wall looks fantastic (simple, yet effective in its function). The positioning of the minifig looking up the wall is great. Well done!
  12. After finishing my first bigger project (medieval diorama) I wanted another challenge. Since I learned some nice new tricks and techniques from Derfel's Guide, I decided to start on some round buildings in minifig scale. After trying out different techniques, I established a solid base for a start...and ran out of specific bricks I need for the build. Instead I moved down to microscale, and made my first miniMOC - a very simple lighthouse on an island. While flying over the island, this is what you get to see... One thing is clear, it's much easier making round builds in microscale. Yet, a challenge at the minifig scale remains...
  13. This is an incredible scale! Once I figured it out, I was even more shocked. It's incredibly detailed doll house and the scale is fantastic-enabling you to include fantastic details as glass cup, breakfast on the table, toys, radio and many details in the bathroom and kitchen. Simply impressive!
  14. I agree. The flower is really nicely designed. And brick-built flower has a longer shelf-life (at least at my place ).
  15. The highlight of this MOC is most definitely its interiors - the Soda Shop. There's lots of great detailing, I really like the seating area in friends blue, and black&white tiled floor.
  16. This is a really nice car/truck design. It looks perfect. Well done!
  17. I recently got another copy of the set. From the first copy of the set I kept the bricks, and gave my boyfriend the minifigures and the animals. After buying Kingdoms Joust, I decided to get another copy of MMV, as I appreciate it more now - it's a good as a set, and even better as a parts pack.
  18. I recently made my first castle diorama, build around Kingdoms Joust set. For someone, who was into making modulars with lots of furniture, I can tell you that it's quite easy to move to castle, and your selection of sets is quite nice for a start. Good luck and enjoy the building.
  19. Go with Helms Deep. I got mine for parts only, didn't even go around to build it. I sold the figures on BL, and partly covered the expenses. HD has a nice selection of greys for castle, but Kingdoms Joust is also a nice complementing set for that. Get both if you can (one for you and one for your son ) - this way you get more specific bricks from KJ, and lots of classic ones from HD.
  20. The wall looks great, the texture is just right, and my favourite is the semi round part. Your layout and whole room look great.
  21. The funny thing is that our first idea was based on combining these three sets (Kingdoms Joust, MMV and Mill Village Raid). But somehow as the gatehouse was combined on a baseplates with some land and extended walls, it all got too small. We were limited to the size of 3x5 baseplates (32x32 studs), so the other too sets were left on the side. I preferred to show something original.
  22. I'm planning a visit to Munich's LEGO store next week, and I'm hoping to get some of those greenery pieces. The inventory on Brickbuildr is a week old, and it's not complete, so I'm hoping for the best, to get something interesting. And I wish I had a LEGO store somewhere closer, to check on PAB more often.
  23. The eagle looks fantastic, and the set itself is very promising with three different animals. I was a bit dissapointed with the house. I have all other Creator houses (excluding Town House - which is on my wish list), and they keep getting smaller. Also, the colour combination is too basic for my taste. I hardly ever build with red bricks (maybe I should start now), then the dark blue sloper can be fine, but again I have a lot of them already. If other colours were introduced, maybe browns or greys for the roof, and tan or similar for the house. I still might pick it up, but it heavily depends on the price range.
  24. Has anyone noticed the colour of the leaves in the hedgehog set? It's in the bottom right corner, and to me it looks to be in redish brown colour. Hope that's true, as it would be nice to see more colour variation for leaves. As for the animals, I like the poodle set, the turtle looks sweet, and also the squirrel. I hope there will be more animals coming with these or other sets.
  25. It's great to see the pictures. It's great that more different Friends torsos are coming, and my favourite among them is the football player. However, I don't see many interesting bricks (which is a major factor for buying them). Anyway, the sets are nice and they introduce new ''subthemes'' within Friends, which is great for extra diversity, although ''men'' are still missing...
