  1. Thanks for great and funny review. Althogh this set is not on my ''Wish list'', and it's not getting there after reading your review, I am convinced that there are people who find the set great enough. To me, major dissapoitment is the price, as I find it a bit high for the piece count (having in mind mostly the interesting pieces). Another down-point on Friends series altogether is that they look much better with minifig's hairstyle, and minifigs look weird with Friends hairstyle. However, I did find you review enjoyable and am likely to haul the interesting pieces on BL.
  2. This bad and breakfast looks fantastic! It is not completely in line with other Winter Village sets, but it's definitely the crown of the village. The bottom walls (stone work) looks amazing. Am I correct in believing the walls were made of technic bricks? And the interior's details are just as great as the front of the building. My favourite details is the desk chair in the child's bedroom and the raised bed.
  3. That is a great review, Hinckley. I enjoyed reading it very much, and my thoughts on the sets are similar to yours. It's not all about the stereotypes, it's about geting a toy, a great one for the fact and this one gives us many new and interesting parts. I'm not excited with the new ladyfigs, but am amazed with the new accesories. Although I am a slightly older version of the target population for Friends, I'm not a fan of pink and purple and dolls and so on... But this set (and other Friends) are great for parts, and I'm looking forward to getting my own City Park Cafe.
  4. This is an interesting building. I like how you connected different building styles in one tower. There are some good ideas for building, such as the fence in the brownish floor and different shapes of the balconies. Also, the color combination - the rainbow-like - in the middle is great. Well done.
  5. I noticed your houses off EB a while ago, and they still impress me with how they look. You have developed a great building style, and this modular neighborhood looks great. I'm looking forward to see more photos of the neighborhood with vibrant life all around.
  6. Great design, Cecilie! It looks great and in style with other Winter Village sets. What makes it special is the unusual use of some pieces. The chest lid looks great above the windows, and the legs blend in with the chimney. I haven't seen LEGO pigeons before, and yours look very realistic. Good luck in the contest!
  7. Being the target population for the Friends theme (although slightly older - 20+ something ), I find the sets interesting mostly for the new colours (mostly blue, but pink and purple as well) and the new accessories (the cutlery, cupcakes, baking and cooking utensils, the pink drawers, ruler, printed juice and milk carton, and the new flowers molds). However, the ladyfigs are (in my opinion), the worst part of the series.
  8. B-PM-1C This MOC is about one year old, and at the time I was most proud of it. A bit later I found some flaws about it, however, I still kept it together for such a long time. It was my first try of making a 32-wide modular building, and I decided to go with a police station to join the modular Fire Brigade. So, the front and the back of the house have some similarities with the FB. If the firemen play table tennis, the police squad plays basketball. It can be separated in 4 modules and has full interiors. In the ground floor, there's a garage for the motorcycle, a booth for the officer on call and the lobby. My favourite is the second floor with work area (filing cabinets and desktops)... ...and a small kitchen where morning coffee or tea can be made. In the third floor, there are interogation room, a toilet and two more desktops. The best part of the day is when the fresh donuts are brought and they all gather in the kitchen for some chit-chat. The last two photos are here for a comparison of the police station with Fire Brigade and Green Grocer. And Happy 2012!
  9. Thanks for the review. I find the set interesting enough to put it on my wanted list. I like the new colours coming out, that will add to the existing LEGO colours more variety. The blackboard is a great detail, that can be included in school/college MOCs, and the little microscope and the robot are great builds as well. However, I do find the purple tools a bit unusual, although the oil container reminds me of water container for watering the flowers.
  10. I've been following the tutorial from the beginning, and I found it very inspiring. I am thankful to Derfel Cadarn for taking his time and creating this Guide with many interesting detailing techniques. I've learnt a lot, so a big thank you to Derfel.
  11. This is an amazing display of modular houses. I'm fascinated by including the interior for the houses as well. I find it very inspiring. What stands out for me, is the modification of the new recycling container truck (I prefer yours than official), the corner house roof with a shark(!) on top, the stickers that add more life to the layout and a lively scenery on the street. Really well done.
  12. It's the same for me. At our local LUG forum, the rule is 10 photos max., so I choose the best 10, and include a link to another site where the rest of the photos are. Sometimes I take 30+ photos, and some details are taken from different view points. However, on one hand, it is easier to view all the photos in one thread, whereas on the other hand, seeing some details from different angles might be a bit dull for someone not that interested in the detail. As for me, if I found special interest in the MOC, I see no problem in viewing more details off EB.
  13. I really like what you did with the pizzeria. It fits well with the Winter Village series. You kept the WV style, yet made it Italian by including a pizzeria. But the best of it, and probably the most unique detail is the climbing Santa. Well done!
  14. Andy, I'm not sure what you mean. I never made a bathroom vignette, so you must have mistaken it for mine. Other than that, thank you (all!) very much for the comments. I really appreciate it. I'm starting on another model these days, but I guess it'll take time to finish. I'll do my best to present some of the older models.
  15. Nicely done. I like how you MODed the Winter Village sets into a very crowded market, with yellow lights and snowy Christmas tree. It would be great to see what's on 'special' offer in the stands.
  16. @ L@ago: I was trying to put a link to Flickr, MOC Pages and Brickshelf, but having less than 5 posts, I can't post messages with an url link. That's the rools. If you or anyone have time, I'm using the name 1982redhead on Flickr and Redhead1982 on both MOC Pages and Brickshelf. @ everyone: Thanks for these very nice comments! The thing is, I've been following the build of the house for weeks, and in the end, it doesn't seem so great at all. I'm glad you like it.
  17. B-RM-4B Hello, everyone. I finally found the courage to present my latest building to a wider community. It's a fictional house, based on the round corner, which made the build a bit more complicated. The building took me 2 months and a half, mainly due to lack of time, but partly also due to lack of experience and lack of planning in advance. The back of the house is rather boring with only a chimney and a window. The house can be divided in 4 stacking modules (ground floor, first floor, second floor and the roof). All of them are furnished. Some of my favourite details from the inside are: the dining table in the kitchen... ...the coffee table in the living room... ...the pianino... ...and the reading corner under the stairs on the first floor... ...the bathroom... ...with a mirror above the sink and a toilet... ...the wardrobe in the bedroom... ...and a chestdrawer in the bedroom... ...and a small balcony on top floor, where one can relax with a cup of good morning tea with a view of the area. . More images of the details can be found at my Flickr, Brickshelf or MOC Pages account. Merry Christmas!
