  1. Your pine trees are a great design. And the layout is fantastic. I wonder how you manage to transport this for exhibitions.
  2. I'm not familiar with the series, but the building looks lovely. The colours are what stands out the most, and it's pretty accurate to the cartoon. I think you did a great job with it. Also, making walls with 1x2 gives a great effect.
  3. The blue house looks very nice. The colour combination of white, black and medium blue surprised me a bit, but it works well together. I'm guessing the floors cannot be separated because of the SNOTed corners of the house, right? The only thing I'd change is the bluish details above the windows, I think white or black would be better. Nevertheless, it's a nice design.
  4. Thanks for reviewing this set. It's on my wanted list since the first pictures leaked out. I still like it a lot, mainly for a very nice selection of bricks with some new and rare elements, lots of green and tan and brown colours. As for the price, printed bricks would be nicer than stickers, and the price is high, however considering new torsos/bricks, it is worth it. In regard to the design, I find it nice - it's enough to recognise the scene from the book. My main interest is the inventory, lots of interesting parts for MOCing.
  5. A bit off topic, what kind of work you do? We recycle tips boxes, so we don't have any spare ones. But in the past years, we had them from different providers, and they're not all fine for stacking and opening. Another question for all, when you're dissasembling a large MOC or diorama, how do you start? I feel my storage compartment is too small to fit my Kingdoms diorama, so I'm considering getting some 'Really useful boxes' as they're finally available here.
  6. An amazing display! One of the details that strucked me first, is the wonderful blue skies in the background. It works well with the display and puts the best out of it. There's too many details to comment. Some of my favourites are the closed sunshade in front of the hotel, the slightly bended roof on the gas station, cars (all of them) and VW van (would love to have one like that).
  7. I have both sets (more than 1 of each) and I am satisfied with both of them. The models are nice, and for someone new, it's great to have a chance to build 3 in 1 models. You get to build more, and brickwised, it's a nice selection of bricks, that can be used in different themes. So, if you already got the sets, keep them! They're worth it. Make it more challenging, and try to build something with bricks from both sets - you'll see their value. For future purchases, it's always great (and smart) to check set reviews before buying sets.
  8. I know you guys are very busy, so I'd just like to ask kindly, if my medieval diorama Kindoms Joust Day can be indexed (when the time is right). Thanks.
  9. There are some really neat torso designs. I'm really looking forward. Some of my favourites from these pictures are the Sea captain and the seagull, the nerd girl has a fantastic hair and torso, painter and diva look fine, and bee woman is really sweet looking (nice Halloween costume).
  10. I have some sets in multiples, all 'just' 2 copies except the Apple Tree House that was on sale, and I think I got four of them. They all go straight to the sorting bin, and are used in MOCs later. However, when buying an extra copy of a given set, I always make sure it has some 'special' bricks that I found usefull.
  11. For driving, my only problem is navigation. Because I don't drink alcohol, I could be a driver, but I'd need someone to navigate around the city. For the moment, I'm more in favour of taking the train, but I could come by car (specially, if there will be lack of them).
  12. Thanks for the close up pictures, CM4S! I'm pretty sure I'll buy some of these sets for parts, there are some nice colours included. I don't like the pool slide much, but the scene itself seems better from these pictures. Is there any info on the price range yet?
  13. It looks lovely. These Winter Village sets go really well together, only a bit more snow is needed on the post office building.
  14. Calanon, that sounds great. Either way, if she's coming to the event, she should join me for the trip. A 6 hours drive by a car can be very boring on your own, and having company is great. When you know for sure the two of you are coming, you can PM me to get in touch. If she's coming, I'm more in favour of driving there. Let me know, when you decide.
  15. You did a great job. The church looks very realistic and the spire is my favourite part. This is a beautiful anniversary gift and shows off the time and skill put into this.
  16. These are the ones that made it to my top ten list (in no particular order): 9474 The Battle Of Helm's Deep, 9473 The Mines of Moria, 10223 Kingdoms Joust, 10224 Town Hall, 10226 Sopwith Camel, 10228 Haunted House, 10229 Winter Village Cottage, 30201 Ghost, 79003 An Unexpected Gathering, and 4206 Recycling Truck.
  17. Thanks for the review. I'm more interested in the parts, than in the set, and I'm happy to see more olive green and tree parts and those mushrooms. I see the set as a nice pack to extend my foliage building bag. Although the minifigs are nicely detailed, I see no use of them in my MOCs (and I'm not fond of fleshies), perhaps some of the torsos in medieval scenes. The wargs are interesting, but again, I have no idea what to do with them. (Yeah, I'm not very imaginative.) However, the set is a bit overprices as it's a standard with a licenced sets, yet I still feel it's worth getting it and perhaps trading the 'unwanted' parts. Overall, it's nice to see a theme like this introducing new (coloured) bricks and interesting torso designs.
  18. Thanks for the review. I'm not a fan of Hobbit and LOTR sets, but I'm welcoming these new sets as they're introducing some really nice parts. When I get this set, it will be mostly for the parts, the dark red leaves and mushrooms on top of the list. Is there a picture (or link) of the inventory (it's not on Bricklink yet)? On the plus side, I really like how detailed the minifigs are, they have nice torsos and double-faces, making them great for play.
  19. I'm not a huge train fan (yet), and I only own two of the Red passenger trains, which i bought pretty impulsivelly. I liked their looks, and the fact that were motorized and had some track included. In this respect, I'd suggest you go for the motorized trains if you're interested in running the train around you flat. If not, or if your main interest is in the looks and style, the Horizon Express seems a nice deal. I like HE a lot, and will likely buy when it becomes available locally, but is missing the motors. Well, for train techs that's not a problem, as they're likely to have extra PFs available. For newcomers (like you and me), it's nice to have the basic PFs and some track included. If budget is not a problem, I'd suggest you go with two sets, HE and Red passenger train.
  20. I find this much more interesting than the classic GBC modules. It looks nice, and I was surprised to see a 'flying plane', although it's pretty windy up there. It's nice to have a video included to actually see the moving parts.
  21. Thanks for this lengthy review! It's a nice model even for the non-experts in trains. I'm seriously considering getting it.
  22. Here's a link to US S@H. In a way, it's a nice to set which sets should be prioritized to buy before being discountinues, but on the other hand, there could be a problem with resellers buying many extra sets, and selling them later for a much higher price.
  23. What I meant is that if I come by car, I'll have to drive to Gunzburg alone (about 6 hours drive or similar - and that's the critical point of the trip, next to the money issue). Would be nice to have someone to chat with me on the long drive. The short one from Gunzburg to Munich will be a piece of cake in that respect. I can get a return train ticket to Munich for 60 EUR, and the petrol cost to Gunzburg with all the fees is around 100 EUR one way. :-( At the moment, I'm more into train, but we'll see...
