That's a lovely little garage. Well done for this small scale and good luck in the contest. The use of transclear 'macaroni' brick is great, I didn't even now it exists in transclear.

Congratulations to the winners and enjoy your lovely new tags! This was my first EB competition and I enjoyed it very much, specially seeing many great entries.

Modular Madness: Tea house and bride's dress boutique
Redhead1982 replied to Redhead1982's topic in LEGO Town
It's nice reading so many nice comments about these two buildings after coming home from 'web-less' holidays. -
Being away at sea for 10 days, I feel like I missed a lot of everyday life. Luckily, I met a fellow from local LUG and he showed me a small picture of the Cottage. It looked lovely enough to fit with other set in the series, but upon looking at other pictures now available, I am ecstatic. There are so many interesting details (both outdoor and indoor lamps, 45°-turned floor tiling, chair in the room, igloo). Despite the higher price (there are much more bricks included, although many small ones), I'm pretty confident I'll buy the set. All in all, I like a more 'civil' set in the WV series, and this cottage fits perfect with the 'store' included so far.

Modular Madness: Tea house and bride's dress boutique
Redhead1982 replied to Redhead1982's topic in LEGO Town
I'm glad you all liked my buildings so far. I'll be offline (due to unavailability of WiFi) for 10 days, so it will be interesting to read more comments then. -
B-OM-27E For the Modular Madness Contest, I made these two 16-wide buildings. The left (white) one is bride's dress boutique, and the right one (medium dark flesh) is a tea house. The idea for the bride's boutique came from the Town hall. When I was building it, I was wondering where the bride got her dress. Also, the CM's bride was a nice addition. On the other hand, I'm a heavy black (flavoured) tea drinker, and the Tea house was a logical addition for a shopping area. All floors are furnished. Starting with the boutique, there's a 'window' shopper and a sales woman inside. Here you can mainly see the model dresses and try some tiaras. On the right is the tea house 'Fine tea', where they sell a diverse collection of black classic and flavored teas in small tins. Second floors of both houses feature offices for the managers of the stores. Mainly, the furniture here is simple. In the bride's boutique they also keep some model books, where the customers can see various dress designs, that are not at display currently. The third floors of the houses are similarly furnished, featuring a small kitchenette and toilets. I had to include the toilets, because my modular street keeps growing and the only bathroom in town was not enough anymore. To conclude the presentation, the back of the houses is simple, and not as detailed as the front. As usual, more photos with details can be found at my Brickshelf, FlickR or MOC Pages. Hope you'll enjoy them.

Great mini MOC! It has some nice details on the roof and the facade. I'm looking forward seeing your other mini MOC!

This looks as a really nice house, despite its name and dimensions. It fits nicely with official modulars and it would be great to see it brick-built. Well done.

Modular Madness: London Row Houses - CR#3
Redhead1982 replied to brickcitydepot's topic in LEGO Town
Although red and blue in LEGO are not the best colour choice for buildings, your London row houses look great, specially with the contrasting details in white. Well done and good luck in the contest! -
That's a really nice house. And it's full of interesting details inside. My favourite are the bookshelf under the stairs, the bathroom, and gass lamps throughout the house. I'm not very familiar with Victorian architectural style, however, your house looks great both in- and outside. Good luck in the competition!

I agree with other comments. The modular is amazingly detailed with the usage of various bricks, some of them rather unusual. The overall look of white building with some 'brick' bricks and reliefing looks great together. Good luck in the contest with this great MOC!

This is a fantastic train station. The fact that it's built mainly from the 'brick' brick makes it look simple, but it's actually far from being simple. It has a realistic look with the studed roof and the model altogether looks perfect. I should definitely check the Train Tech sub-forum more often.

Thanks, Legogal. The plan for the statue was it to be a female minifig, but I realized that finding a gray female hair is not as easy I thought it would be. Obviously, all female minifigs in LEGO world dye their hair.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Redhead1982 replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I wasn't following any predictions and speculations about the series 8, and I was pleasantly surprised with the pictures. I like most of them, except for the alien figure and the robot. It's great that CMs are introducing new molds for accessories, such as the pretzel, hair with headphones, Santa's bag. -
I had no idea, how a beach can fit between the modulars. But your MOC shows that nicely. There are many interesting details there, but the 'worst' is the sunburned minifig. Ouch!

Great MOC. The fountain looks great with the water spashing. The lamps with golden ornaments add a nice touch to the park. Good luck in the competition!

This is a great design. I'm glad that recycling truck brought recycling stations into town. Your is a nice, and educational as well. The TV shouldn't go there! I also like that it's all tiled, it gives a nice shiny effect. The green roof looks great like that. Well done and good luck in the contest!

Well, Vincent, there is a lamp just outside the park, and it gives enough light for night-time visitors, that is if you're not afraid of the dark.
-
This is a great set. I like all the green, and the round windows with some new bricks. I'm definitely looking forward seeing more from the theme. Thanks for the picture!

B-OM-24B I'm joining the Modular Madness Contest in Category 2 - Parks and Rec with my MOC titled 'Park with a statue'. The inspiration for this MOC is the city of Copenhagen, where I often found peaceful and quiet areas in a huge number of city's public parks to enjoying reading a good novel, and sometimes even my study books. This 'Park with a statue' represents a combination of my favorite park features - lots of flowers, and a place to read. The inspiration was a narrow and longish small park area with a statue at one side. However, from the original I only kept the basic shape. From the open entrance of the park, one can see a flower bed in the middle, dividing the area in two halves. At the side opposite the entrance, there's a statue of 'Unknown minifig' which is a local attraction and often photos of the statue are taken by tourists passing in the area. Another specificity of the park is its vegetation. Five different species of flowers are grown in differently shaped flower beds, creating a nice flowering area between modular buildings surrounding the park. The aerial view shows the asymmetry of the park. There is a main flower bed in the middle, and other flower beds are set up asymmetrically on each side to create a more natural and wild look of the park. On each side of the park, there are wooden benches which are a great place to rest and read a book. To conclude, here's also a side view of the park. More photos of the park can be found on my Brickshelf, FlickR or MOCPages. And remember, if passing by in the neighborhood, this is a place worth to stop by.

I've been following DC's Guide on medival building, and found some of the tecniques very interesting and useful. Since the best way to learn is to try it out on your own, I went ahead and made a house. The house is intentionally done very plainly, without ornaments, as it was built as a farmer's house. I used sand green as it is one of the best colours in my opinion and combined it with the use of 'stoned' corners. One of my favourite learned 'tricks' are the window shutters and the roof endings. There's no interior included, as this build was mainly intended as a 'study' model. Also, this was my first build where I tried out a different setup for photography, including a white background, and some photoediting.

Nice MOC. I like the use of hinges as overhangs on the building. I tried it also on CC-sized modulars, and I think they look well on both sizes.
-
The Ferrari sign looks great, but stuck between two modulars, this dealership doesn't look imposing enough. It would be great if some offices were added to the upper floor. Nevertheless, it's still a nice model.

The new figures looks great, specially Bilbo. He looks like 'Bilbo'. In my opinion (I'm not fond of fleshies), these LOTR and Hobbit sets really have great minifigures with more and more details.
