  1. I love it, too. It's an interesting take on ''gingerbread''. I don't mind the train having less realistic details, and more icing. It's the icing that created the ''gingerbread'' feeling, and you did that great. My favourite is the cocoa mug with chocolate chip cookie.
  2. Your Modern office building looks like a great place to work at. I like the large windows letting lots of light in, and the exterior is very interesting to look at. Generally, I'm not a fan of modern architecture, but the curved shaped of this building is very appealing. Well done.
  3. Amazing! Container homes are not what they used to be. I've seen many lately, turned into fancy offices as an extension to a building that cannot be extended by bricks. I really like the colorful display of angled containers. Adding hinged panels was smart to make the interior easily seen.
  4. I love it! You managed to create a stunning building with odd colorscheme and shape. My favourite section is the roof of the right building. The colorful 1x2 slopes create a nice effect mimicking the shiny and curvy roof of the original building. The facade is done nicely as well, with the addition of some colorful plates. The protruding balconies are nice and challenging detail as well. It's not easy to recreate natural curves, but you settled for a great compromise. Here's another challenge for you. Do you know how many different colors you used for the right building?
  5. Amazing architecture. I've seen it on Flickr and Instagram, and even after several days it's still very impressive. My favourite detail is the greeblings on the facade. With muted colors the building still pops with intricate detailing on the facade. Really looking forward to see more buildings from you.
  6. Like it a lot! The floor plan looks spacious. The colors are neat (dark orange and sand blue windows look surprisingly well together). I'm not super excited with the garage on the ground level, but I like the cut corner, and the inset for the garage entry. This will provide more interesting plans for walking areas in modular towns. I spy some new recolors, and I guess the quest begins to find more interesting parts.
  7. Who needs to know how to swim when you can build modulars... I'm at work till 15:00, then online to see the new modular, and only then off to go home. I work till 16:00, but I'm pretty sure I won't do any work after 15:00. Even now, I'm already refreshing this page.
  8. Very funny.? Here's to a great start of the week. Waiting for the big surprise.
  9. Great idea and well done. The dracula and the XXL pumpkin brickheadz look perfect. I'm not a big fan of the brickheadz, but these two nicely build. I too prefer imaginary characters to licensed. The amount of detail on the pumpkin is spot on to create both the curved shape and colors. The accessories aka. spider and spider web are well thought of too.
  10. Thanks for the review. Actually, I still have mixed feeling about this one. It doesn't fit my view of the WV perfectly, hence I'm still undecided about getting one. The parts are not that impressive (for someone with already too-big-too-handle LEGO collection), so I actually might pass this one. However, there are some elements that look perfect for the WV style. Just to point out, the frozen fountain and the tree are my favourite mini builds, the bench with the light is already a traditional detail in the WV sets. I'm not a fan of the building, but I do like some of the details. Considering these mixed feelings, I'm pretty sure I won't be buying this set for this Christmas, but in the future...maybe.
  11. Thanks for a great review. I'm glad the set is bag, as this would mean also the individual parts will be more easily available. Yes, I'm hunting those green BURPs. Actually, the set has a nice old-school feel with the cottage reminding me of the 560 Town House, but updated. I like the fact that the power functions are included, despite the large price. And as pointed out, the BURPs are a great storage/hideout for the battery box and cables.
  12. I'm totally ignoring you, Kristel. Actually, I'm glad you commented on the position of the head. I added the photo I based the mosaic on, so it's a bit easier to see the parrot's posture. One of the problems I had was to decided whether to use plates, tiles or bricks. The color pallette varies between these parts, and I didn't want to splurge out on some rare parts, so I did the compromise on using the tiles, which I had plenty in various colours. That's exactly the point I hoped would be raised by the experienced mosaic builders, to hear how they would go about. I actually spent more time searching for and deciding which photo to actually use, to find a photo with a similar colour scheme to LEGO palette.
  13. I know I was rather inactive for much too long, but I did spend a lot of my time for different LEGO activities. One of them was this parrot as a mosaic. I found a picture of a parrot online and uploaded it to Bricklink's Mosaick tool to generate instructions. Before deciding to build a parrot, I played around with many other options (such as autoportrait, city skylines, various animals), and spend much more time deciding on the motif than final building. The tiles are stuck to a 48x48 baseplate, and the baseplate can be put on the stand I build mostly from Technic bricks. The stand is stable, but wouldn't stand strong wings. Another problem is also the flexibility of the 48x48 baseplate. When I moved the baseplate around the flat (from one room to the other), some of the tiles lifted from the plate slightly. If you're interested, here's a few of the WIP photos showing the progress. Once I got all the extra tiles needed, the building was pretty straightforward. This was my first mosaic, and I enjoyed designing and building it a lot. I'm interested in trying different motifs, so I'd love to hear from more experienced builders any tips and tricks about a mosaic building. Edit: Here's the original photo of the parrot (not mine, couldn't find the original source).
  14. Lovely build. As others have said, it's clean shape and color style create an interesting look, more similar to the classic castle-style. Feels a bit nostalgic. The roof is my favourite part. The use of curved slopes creates an interesting texture.
  15. Ok, the standard problem then. I've heard from some people that they ordered from S@H from one country, but sent to another (the address had both countries written). But I wouldn't dare to risk losing an order.
  16. The Hogwarts Express is available in Europe, at least at S@H for Slovenia. Is ordering via European S@H an option?
  17. Nice work. The floating rock are always interesting to see. I'm missing more foliage on the rocks, to make it look more realistic. Using your daughter for scale comparison works well. I admire your ability to build with your daughter. In my experience, it's more unbuilding then building.
  18. Although I like the original dark tourquise and pink colorscheme, your color variation looks equally great. The side "jukebox" details looks better in black, and so does the red letters. However, I wouldnd mind more colors on the awning of the diners. It does look like an old 50's diner has been updated to a more modern look.
  19. Lovely rendition of this iconic car. I really like how you managed to get the right shape of the car using bricks, most notably in this small scale.
  20. Well done. Since many people own Ikea furniture, it is interesting to see which pieces make it to being displayed in this smaller store. The Billy's and Malm are easily recognized (also my favourites in real life). I like some of the solutions used in the restaurant, like the grill tiles for the counters, the drink dispensers and pipes on the ceiling.
  21. This looks interesting. I wasn't convienced immediatelly, but after a while the house really grew on me. It's a bit too crowded with various details, and it's stands out too much. But considering this being your style, it has some very clever touches. I like the portholes and stone patio, however, my favourite is the roof section. The inverted arch part is great for creating a slightly different angle of the roof. Well done.
  22. @paupadros You have certainly developed a very unique building style. Honestly, I'm starting to find your building too colorful and too detailed for my taste. All the tiny details seem to get lost, and I really need to have several views at buildings to really appreciate it all. My favourite is the narrow dark blue building, specifically the large window cowering the facade. It's a great way to open up a tiny space. I'm intrigued to see in more detail how the curved wall is built. While I like the texture and colours, together they look crowded. I'd go for one or the other. For some reason you're pushing the limits on how much intricate detailing can be included on the building. I know building digitally gives you more freedom in parts use. Never the less, there's always some inspiring detail to be found in your MOCs.
  23. I'm not a car fan, and initially I didn't even planned to comment this build. However, seeing it I changed my mind. It's awesome! It's hard to build at such a small scale, least to include many details. My favourite is the side view, which shows of tne shape very nicely. Missing glass is not a problem at all from this view, but I'd prefer a trans-black part for the front wind shield. But that's just me being picky. Well done.
  24. If you're interested, you can learn more about (LEGO) photography in the Reviewers Academy. There's a thread on LEGO phoLEGO photography, written very plainly and informatively. I learned a lot just by reading (and then trying out different options). Afterall MOCs deserve to be presented in the best possible way.
  25. The cottage itself is very interesting. It looks like an oldtraditional wooden cottage on the outside, but is furnished in a modern style. I'm not a fan of the window panes, so I'd prefer to have a glass installed. It would also match better with the ground floor large windows. The interior looks nice, specially the glass coffe tables, but the quality of the pictures doesn't do it justice. Have you tried different camera settings to remove the yellow hue and over-exposure? The lake looks a bit odd with the green water. The color is often reflected by the surroundings. Adding a tree or two would be nice, or simply extending the grass more organically to the water edges. Despite these ''negative'' comments, I really like it. Thanks for sharing.
