Eurobricks event #15 Günzburg - information topic
Redhead1982 replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
@Holodoc, Just a quick question about the contest photos. I took a couple of photos of my Skyline. Should someone make a post with all the contest pics (you took) in the Special LEGO Themes subforum, or should we each just make a new entry? The Brickshelf folder is public! Looking through the pictures, we had fun. -
It looks awesome (as others have said before). I've been a fan of your buildings, now I added the spaceship, too. Seeing more classic space or neo-CS MOCs, the blue, grey and trans yellow color doesn't stand out anymore. But, the letters here are another twist, and the interior is a bonus too. Will this be displayed at BB2019?

[MOC] Haunted House Ride - April 26th Update
Redhead1982 replied to Playwell Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
This looks great. I like the details, cracked walls, hanging window shutter, a whole in the wall. Also the tiny roof window is a nice detail to break up the roof. Have you though about adding stickers to the window, maybe adding spider web or broken window details? -
I like the idea of a tree growing on the brick. Perhaps the top of the brick should be a bit damaged around the tree roots. Other than it looks a lovely MOC to display. I wonder what the original looks like.

This could easily be an Easter set, it looks very well planed and build. As for NPU, the ears, eyebrows and cheeks look fantastic. I also like the eggs, even the yellow one. Not everyone paints the Easter eggs in harmonic color pallette. I don't know about the egg themes though. Could it be Friends with purple-lime and the LEGO movie with the coral parts.

@MstrOfPppts and I plan to arrive around 17:00, depending on the traffic. According to Google it's 5,5 hours and we plan to start around noone. See you soon (it's time to pack and get some rest). -
Well, I'm somewhere in between. I like both 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall and 21042 Statue of Liberty, but I think my number one is 70657 Ninjago City Docks. I still remember the excitement when I bought it and built it.

I don't know about accuracy either, but this part of the wall looks very clean and neat. I guess this is how it looked after being built and not after years of exposure to weather and nature. I like the fact that the cabin on the right side is ''open'' to allow a peak inside. The texture is nice but could be improved. Perhaps you could add a few more tiles or jumpers to add more distress to the areas with masonry brick, and to make it look less blocky. Another criticism would be the corner of the right building which is actually positioned on the the MOC's black border. I really like the clean look of the black border, and would simply prefer the building to be pushed back for one stud to leave the edge clean. But that's nit-picking. Well done.

2017 was a crazy year with so many large and great sets. I like your choices for the top sets of the year altghough I'm not sure which would go first, Assembly square or Ninjago city.

If someone is interested in Unikitty Collectible series 1, in our local LEGO store they have them on sale (50% off) for 2.5 eur (if I remember correctly). I can grab some at the latest Thursday morning, but I'd prefer to buy them by Wednesday.

280 eur sounds good for a new set if the regular price was 350 eur. It's still listed at slovenian S@H, although the price is higher. I hoped I might get it in Germany for a better price with Saturday's discount. We'll see about. I'm not a 100% sure yet, I might consider bricklinging the special parts, as I already own many common ones.

3 days to the event 3 years ago we had 2016! As every year before, 2016 was another great year with some great and special sets. However, after pinning down some of the favourites from the year, it was not easy to select only one. Some of the more interesting sets were 10251 Brickbank, 10253 Big Ben and 5827 Firehouse Headquarters. However, my favourite from 2016 would be 71040 Disney Castle. It looks amazingly accurate with interesting exterior and amazing interiors with regerences to many Disney characters. From the architectural point of view it's magnificent (and I'm still a big fan of architectural details and buildings). Even if I don't own it (yet) I see lots of great elements and building tricks. The Disney figures look very realistic. The downsize for me is its size as I would love to have it displayed on the shelves, but there's not enough height. Edit: was neccessary as I started this post some time after midnight and didn't realize my brain was not functioning at the time. See you soon.

I'm ok with visiting BMW, although I'm not a fan. As for the AFOLshopping, I plan to grab few sets if possible, but I don't mind the timing of the store visiting. I guess we can leave bags at the station/cars. -
My favourite in 2014 was definitelly the Parisian restaurant. I think it was a great runner up for the color, the looks and parts. And I was able to buy multiples (I don't know the exact number, it's three at least). The Sea cow seems nice today, it's definitelly an eyecatching and outstanding set for the variety of parts.

2012 was a great year. I still remember my first ever trip to Legoland, DE and finding loads of 1x2 bricks in sand green before the Haunted House was released. Not to mention bringing home many other great parts from the Fabrik. I liked many sets that year, Haunted House and Kingdoms Joust being my favourite.
-
I still remember these sets, it was a year after I got back to LEGO. At the time I was mostly interested in modular buildings, and didn't buy many other themes. However, the VW Van was on my wish list, and I built it over two days with my little nephew (4 at the time). I still remember the shock when I discovered him chewing the hair brush from the set. Otherwise I completely agree that Mill Village Raid stands out the most - mostly for the goats. Diagon Alley and Queen Anne's Revenge are great runners up.
-
I totally agree. I don't own this ship, but I have it at home, and I appreciate its good looks and parts selection. Definitely the best pirate ship.
-
This is the one train that got me a bit more interested in trains, and sadly I regret not buying it when I had the chance. On the other hand, Medival Market was the one that got my full attention as it became my first set bought in multiples for the parts.
-
Thanks, Kristel. Despite the shooting range being mostly hidden at the exhibition, I wanted something realistic (as in "hard to win"). The DUPLO duck is amazing, I agree. I wish a similarly printed duck (but obviously smaller) would be made for System bricks.

I admit I had mixed feelings when I first saw this church. It was not what I expected. I prefer a more classic architecture, neogothic, with small colored windows and lots of pillars and intricate facade details. However, looking more closely you did a great job designing the large windows to make a play with light and ornate glass details. For sure, my favourite detail is the organ on the top floor.
-
Well done. The building looks amazing. Since I'm a big fan of books and reading, I always try to visit a local book store. This is exactly a place I'd go to. I like a combo of a cafe and a bookstore. Hard to say what my favourite detail is, but what stands out to me is the front facade, the design of the roof and lots and lots of books inside. The only thing I'd change (if possible) is the door - I'd go for glass door to see more of the interiors.

Thank you for the nice comments. It doesn't look like much, but building the walls with cheese slopes is parts consuming. Honestly, I did not even think of the original parrot or the monkey figure. I'm sure the parrots would fit in nicely. The idea was to use some of those odd animals I had lying around doing nothing.

You should give it a try. Profile bricks combined with some jumpers and plates/or tiles can create a bit more weathered look. If you don't like it, you can go back to this fresh fasade version. I'll try to find a picture of a wall I did like that.

HispaBrick Magazine 032 is out!
Redhead1982 replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks, @Peppermint_M. I was surprised when HispaBrick contacted me. -
Nice work. Considering this is your second modular you have a great way ahead. I guess you're hooked already. Mg favouritd part is the middle floor. I like its simmetry, and would probably use the same design also for the top floor. Adding a spot for the car is interesting, but it looks like a tight fit. Well done on the interiors, too. Have you considered taking a photo from above to capture the floor plan? Specially the 16 wide buildings are hard to photograph the interiors, so visualizing the floor plan is something that helps with planning the layout.
