  1. Thanks for the nice review. Although I'll most likely pass this set, I have to admit it looks nice. Since I hardly ever use Christmas decorations, buying this set would result only in increasing part count in my collection. As you mentioned, the quantities are nice, but part selection is quite common, and many already have enough parts to make it on your own. But it makes an interesting gift for other, less-into-LEGO people. I do like the idea of making a sort of home decor, not just the more common Easter or Halloween themed sets.
  2. Thanks for this extensive review. I took my time going through all the photos several times, reading the text and looking for more details. I find the set as a relatively accurate rendition of the alley, given the limits of the brick. The round windows are cleverly built with a different approach, and the interior is full of details and play. Given the price, it'd definitely not a play set, but it looks aa a great parts value.
  3. This is such a nice design. I really like the traditional look and colors scheme, but a bit more modern in shape and detailing. It looks a bit old-school and nostalgic, but uses a more novel tricks to keep it all less cube-like. Even those not-so-nice printed panels fit in nicely. I would very gladly buy it as an Ideas set. Fingers crossed to make it to 10 000 votes.
  4. This one looks really good and practical. I wouldn't mind having it on my desktop at work. The design and color combination reminds me of the painter Kandinsky.
  5. Fantastic replica. It's been a while since I last saw one in CPH, but I recognized it immediately.
  6. Ohhhh, such a sweet teddybear. The only issue I have is that it's not very cuddly with the studs and edges, so it's not suitable to snuggle with. On the serious side, it's really cute and well shaped. Have you considered also rounding the ends of hands? They look a bit too sharp at ends. Have you considered any other color combo?
  7. Well done. I like the patterned and rounded parachute. Considering all the curves, it's easy to recognize the flag design.
  8. Beautiful building. It reflects nicely some of the architectural elements. Personally, I'm not a fan of "stripped" buildings. I've seen them before, and with many I felt the strips sort of overtake the overall patterns and profile. It's the same here, the strips hide the details, and a closer look reveals many gems. The tiny pillars between windows, the curved window finishes, the ornamental bowls at the roof end, the shelves for the corner balconied. I admit in monochrome it would not look as presenrable. Nice work.
  9. Thanks for the comments. I forgot to write the dimensions. In total there are 18 baseplates (32×32) in a 6 by 3 layout. As for the height I forgot to measure.
  10. Actually, we used only a few stickers that fit in with the theme, but we used a lot of custom printed parts, like the tiles with arrows and different signs, but I guess they're not easy to spot on the pics.
  11. Thanks for the comment. The island was a great example of collaboration between @MstrOfPppts and me. We each had our share in designing it to the final point. It's good to have a building buddy that can critically comment on WIP photos to help you improve. Thank you, Peppy! It was displayed at 5 different exhibitions and I we got a lot of positive comments from AFOLs and visitors. At Bricking Bavaria it was voted in the top 5 MOCs which was a nice compliment. And thanks for front-paging the MOC.
  12. Such a funny build. He was recognizable, although it's been a while since I saw the Muppets. I like the build, it might look simple, but the posing of the hands creates the right drama.
  13. In September @MstrOfPppts and I finished our MOC based on the 70620 Ninjago City and 70657 Ninjago Docks sets. I took the photos in December, when it was displayed for the last time, and it took me too long to edit and select the best photos. There are two sections of the city, connected by an old stone bridge at the lowest level. We wanted to create a part of the city similar, yet distinct from the official sets. The ground level was set as a more traditional Asian architecture, while the above level was leaning more towards the modern high rise. The idea was to visualize how the architecture changed at higher levels when buildings were added on, but still to keep some traditional elements. For this purpose we also designed some custom printed parts to create the right atmosphere. From my part, this was the most extensive model I built, and one that I enjoyed building very much. If you're interested to see more details from other angles or just these photos in high-res, they are available at my Flickr.
  14. Lovely cottage and (in my opinion) even lovelier tree. It looks very nice with the Friends tiny flowers. I'm so glad those plant pieces to attach these tiny flowers now exist. The last photo from above nicely shows off the beautiful greenery.
  15. Nice alternate build. That can be quite challenging and you managed to build a different front, yet with recognizable(box) origin. I wouldn't put it in a town next to modular buildings, but would build a small sea side village around it.
  16. I gave you my vote. Altghough the building might not be realistic, it is a a great concept to showcase music instruments and other elements. The story is easily recognized, and in a way it looks like a "one-man-band", but better. The interior is nicely built with homage to different music style. I like how you incorporated different music-associated figs, even the cowgirl (I wouldn't thought of it). The back graffiti is a nice detail as well. All in all, well done and built.
  17. I don't mind postponing to late August/September. I want to be at home since my boy has a first day of school on September first. Other than that, I have events planned for October, November and December, if the dates will hold. I'm not sure about September, if there will be Bricking Bavaria which I thought to attend. For sure with travel banned, going abroad might be a challenge in June.
  18. Amazing. I'm always impressed by these cottages with irregular structure, leaning walls and crooked roof. Thanks for sharing the roof detail, it's really good to see how it's done. I guess it's not so stable to move around?
  19. This is a lovely display. The architectural details are amazing. I know this type of Dutch houses is very typical for the northern Europe, and liking that kind of buildings in general, it's always nice to see it brick built. In addition to the realistic architecture, a large amount of funny details adds yet another perspective. Is peeing in public even alowed?
  20. I do hope it will be over by June, but we'll see how things go. It's not very optimistic at the moment, not really knowing what the next day brings. Since we're planning a car trip, there's always a possibility to cancel last minute. If it would be possible to cancel the cottages in case of travel restrictions, that's great. If not... Let's just hope this virus gets under control...
  21. Nice MOD/MOC. The 76108 set is rather perfect for customization. I like how you built it on a raised platform, creating extra steps and flower beds around it. Also making it a corner building was a bit of a challenge, specially the roof section. I'm not a fan of the corner roof window, it looks there's too much windows. But I guess that was a solution for the roof corner. On the other hand the plants on the roof are nice to see. I just wonder if they're some wild plants and how can you water them. Is there a roof access?
  22. Nice mech. I'm always amazed to see how some odd parts come together and make an interesting shape and color scheme. Well done.
  23. It's lovely. I like the triangle shape, and a clean look. Well done.
  24. I found the series on hdmo.tv with no regional limits, at least here in Europe. As for the show, I agree with @ShaydDeGrai. It's focused more on the drama than MOCs or the building process. I'm watching it to see the MOCs, not the stress and drama. I mean we all get frustrated when something fails, but I don't run crying around or yelling at my building buddy. To me it's a hobby to relax and certainly that's the message I'd like to see the public gets. I wonder how the teams were selected. For the UK show they had auditions and they showed them during the show. For the US show, I know certain AFOLs were reached out to, including me, with invitations to apply. Not the best way, in my opinion. My experience was a bit weird, as soon as I wrote I'm not a US resident, all the communication stopped. Auditions should be more appropriate, but also more costly to organize. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to see the show develop.
  25. Does anyone know where and/or how to watch the LEGO Masters outside the US, particularly in Europe? Despite my effort, I can't find a valid option.
