Eurobricks Event 2018 - The storys and pictures
Redhead1982 replied to CopMike's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Finally managed to upload photos from the trip to my Flickr Album. I didn't took many, so I don't think there's much more to see. -
Beautiful as always! It's hard to say what looks best - the color choice is fantastic, these natural dark tones work really well with the gold details. The lowered floor in the center of the lobby is a nice touch. My favourite for sure is the patterned floor with different geometrical patterns. Well done.

More thant the car, I like the background. specially the tiled road. It creates a magnificent background for the white car to stand out even more. What caught my attention was the odd shape, the elongated nose and an extra set of wheels. I like the chrome details in the front, but I got to say I like brickbuilt version better than the real one. My favourite detail is the surf board - well thought.

Well done. This was one of my favourite cars at the contest. It immediately stood out because of the bold color choice (had no idea so many parts are available in light bright orange), and the fact it has 3 wheels only. I wasn't familiar with the car, so I had to google it. My favourite detail is the rounded grill.

Eurobricks Event 2018 - The storys and pictures

To add my share, I still wish to be in Billund. ? Had a great time there, thanks to the great company of familiar faces and some new ones (but familiar online). It was great meeting you in person @WhiteFang. Special thanks goes to the organizers, @Holodoc, @CopMike and @Bonaparte for making it all possible. The LEGO House was a great experience. It's worth the visit more than once. Since I'm still a bit tired from the long journey (total 3700 km), but mostly from the reality-crash of back at work, I haven't managed yet to organize the few photos I made, but it's on the priority list for this week. -
Sorry, I checked, but I have none of these parts. Hope you can get the wanted quantity.

Congratulations to Skalldyr for being an early winner. There's no way I'll be up and online for the last photo. I'll be picking up @MstrOfPppts in 12 hours, and still need to pack a few essentials for the road trip. After today's fun activities which included an early morning visit to the doctors, staying at home with a strange skin rash, going to the office twice during the day to deal with some papers, and the grand finale (a puke and a pee) starring my little girl, I wanna get to bed early. Really looking forward to have some adult fun. But first, first stop tomorrow Legoland Gunzburg. Have a safe trip and see you in Billund.

This part appears in 3 Town sets (Tower Crane, Tower Crane, and Volcano Exploration Base) and in 3 Ninjago sets (Misfortune's Keep, Skull Truck, and Turbo Shredder).

Congratulations for amazing MOC (and well-deserved front page exposure)! The perspective and mood of the photo are spot on. The somewhat larger-than-minifig scale is perfect to add neext-level details, such as the off-setting of the facade. I also like the architectural style, the different era buildings. My favourite are the facades, with all the off-sets, SNOTed walls, definitely something to try and learn from.

Same here. :-D Was up til 3 in the morning, and stil no sign of no. 3.

@Skalldyr Staying up late?
-
This part is available in 4 sets in this reddish brown color. Also this part in reddish brown appears in 4 themes (Elves, Ghostbusters, Dimensions and Modular buildings).

I used to be good at maths, but I might have lost my counting skills. I think I should get only 8 points for 6 answers (or are there some double points?).

Eurobricks Event 2018 - Accommodation Topic
Redhead1982 replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Two years ago, I arrived after 22:00 I think. I had no problems with the chalet, I think it was Calanon, who took over the chalet. I don't remember much from then... -
Now, that's a way to learn German.

It's also one of the 5 technic bricks with open center (Technic, Brick 4 x 4 Open Center, Technic, Brick 4 x 6 Open Center, Technic, Brick 6 x 8 Open Center, Technic, Brick 4 x 6 Open Center with 2 Fixed Rotatable Friction Pins on End, Technic, Brick 6 x 8 Open Center with 2 Fixed Rotatable Friction Pins on 3 Sides). The part appeared in yellow only in 2005.

The number 40344 is a multiple of 5 (15). The brick 40344 is (was) available in sets in 5 non-transparent colors (black, dark azzure, LBG, LG, yellow). The part weighs 5 g. There's 5 of this brick in dark azzure in BOOST Creative Toolbox set.

I guess that happens easily when you live in a different time zone. You never know when @Holodoc decides to throw a bombnew challenge.

So I'm up and online before 8, and I'm already late to this guessing game.

I went through my Bricklink inventory, and these are the extra sealed polybag sets (one of each) if anyone's interested. Prices we can work out. 30276 First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter - Mini polybag 30201 Ghost polybag 5001622 LEGO Store Employee polybag I also have some other bits and pieces in the Bricklink store which I don't find useful. If there's anything interesting, let me know. I'd love to part with all those odd bits. I might bring the box with my BL inventory if there's any interest.

My guess too was 9 parts of Homer's body. But Skalldyr was first, so if it's correct, it's his score.
-
I'd love to have this Fountain set if still available. I'd love to get the flower cart. I'm also looking for the Train Station (the plan is to get it in Billund, but that's not sure). I'll check BL prices and make an offer later today if the sets are still available. Now off to work.

Event 2018 Billund building challenge!
Redhead1982 replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Building a car is a big challenge for me. I don't remember how many cars I actually built over the years, but it's certainly not more than three. I'm not even sure I have car parts available. I'll do my best to make something presentable (or resembling a car). -
Thanks for comments. I'm glad you found inspiration. Looking forward to see what you'll come up with. At this point, the park will be taken apart. As it is, it takes half of the space on our kitchen table and is a constant distraction for my son during meals. I also have another large MOC waiting to be photographed after adding a few more details, and the kitchen table is the only one large enough. I accumulated lots of foliage parts over the years, so I didn't buy any specifically for this project. I prefer the older flowers, too. I managed to collect a decent amount of 1x1 round plates with flower edge in some of the newer colors, but not yet the new flower molds. I'm still not sure if I like them or not. I guess I need to get more on my hands to decide. They're still pricey on BL, so I only include a few in orange (you can see it here or on the third photo in the first post).

My latest and so far my largest creation was The Rainbow Park. The name originates from the colorful flower beds by the fence, where I tried to use the petals in all the colors I had. As can be seen, some are more common than the others. The park sits on 12 (32x32 studs) baseplates in a 3 by 4 layout. It's fenced on two sides only, as the idea was that it extends beyond the city layout. Here's a view from the birds' perspective. When I started building it, I knew I wanted to make the paths more round than straight, which is a challenge with bricks. Since I didn't have enough curved tiles in LBG, I experimented with round tiles to get this look. Here you can also see the flower beds by the fence and the changing colors of the petals. Although I had many ideas about what to include in the park, the building of this project actually started with the fence. This was meant as a collaboration project with @MstrOfPppts, and the fence idea was his design. He also gave feedback on other details. I initially wanted the fence in a non-SNOT position, but the SNOTed fence (as he suggested) looks much better. These ornamental fences create an interesting pattern. The park offers activities for all generations, there's children playing with a ball, couples enjoying romantic picnic and boat ride, food vendors and elderly couples playing chess. One of my favourite details, also a bit hidden from a view (especially if not looking at the right angle), are the neatly trimmed bushes spelling the name of Slovenian LUG (Kocke Klub). As always, more pictures from different angles and closeups of some details can be seen in my Flickr album.
