Tatra 813 MOD
Saberwing40k replied to SilenWin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool mod, I like the new white color scheme. Also, it seems as if third party tires make every model better. -
Sorry to disappoint you, I know everyone is impatiently waiting. Also, Maybe they just had the stickers with the logos lying around from something else, and threw them on? Just to see if it would look good with the logo? Anyway, about the dual wheels versus single debate, the question is not whether it can be done or not, as ZBLJ and others have proven it possible to have a driven rear axle with dually wheels and suspension. The real question is whether or not in can be done in a way that satisfies the sky high Lego build quality standards.

Did anyone see the image of the prototype 42033 in the most recent issue of the Lego Club magazine? It's kind of interesting, although I'm wondering where the Bridgestone logo on the rear fin came from. Lego Technic 42033 prototype by Saberwing007, on Flickr Although it's kind of interesting to see prototypes of any kind, I wish it were of a more interesting model.

Looks great, maybe you could also make a Day of The Dead style version?

Review: 41062 Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle
Saberwing40k replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Licensed
When I first saw the pictures, I didn't realize that this set had so much color barf going on in it. Also, there is a bunch of stuff that does not fit in with the movie, and it is pricey. The minifigures are nice, but no Kristoff or Sven. I thought about getting this, but this review is pushing me towards no. -
To get the names of any bricks, in single select mode, just click on the brick in question, and the name and part number will display in the lower left corner of the screen, just to the right of the brick palette if you have that open. In your images, it would display where you have the parts count.

I've also noticed that certain parts are duplicated in extended mode, and part #98389 in standard mode is the wrong color, and has no printing. Also, for some reason, in standard mode, part #12888 Chihuahua dog is available both with, and without deco, with no change in color. Same thing with part #95327 Small Ape. As mentioned above, for some reason, a lot of animal parts are missing printing.

RC on-road car chassis
Saberwing40k replied to retmas's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So, you want a chassis with four wheel drive and suspension, from your description. I've got a couple of questions that I'd like you to answer, and then I can help you better, or even whip something up just for you. What kind of wheels do you want to use? This will help me determine how big the car will be. What kind of suspension do you want? Do you want just front wheel or four wheel steering? Do you have any L motors? For any driving applications, L motors are much better. What kind of battery box do you have? Rechargeable, AAA, or AA? Also, for most kind of on road Lego cars, suspension is not really needed, just a nice feature. -
Actually, 8285 had dual wheels in the rear. I'd like it if this truck had it as well, but it's not really an essential feature. O, I pray to the mighty Blakbird that we may see pictures soon.

I've been wondering about that too. 42037 would look way better if it had the new Tumbler tires. I'm wondering if they are more expensive to produce. I decided to weigh the Tumbler tires, and the more common 81.6x38 tires, and the Tumbler tires are only six grams heavier. Maybe the mold is much more complex?

Another bug, part #6539 driving ring does not align correctly with part #6538 cross axle extension. The driving ring should have its teeth offset 45 degrees relative to the crossaxle it is mounted on, not in line with the axle. In this picture, you can even see where the two parts intersect: Edit: I'm back, with more bugs. There are a lot of parts even in the default LDD mode that are available in a color that the part is not actually made in. For instance, #2950 Trencher Shovel. In real life, it is only available in black and yellow. Also, with the part #92910, this happens: Sometimes I really dislike LDD as it is, and wish that Lego would go with something that would piggyback off AutoCad or something.

[TC6] Monster Truck
Saberwing40k replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not really, you can use a maximum of four independent channels, but any number of motors, if they are slaved to a single channel. -
[TC6] Monster Truck
Saberwing40k replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lookin' good, but just so you know, you could have more than one drive motor, as long as they are hooked up to the same channel. I'd also go for adjustable suspension, as not many monster trucks have winches. -
Okay, not bad for a first timer, but there are a number of issues. You've got some extra parts in the .LXf file that make the bounding area for the model really large. I tried zooming out, and it is so large that the model becomes invisible. You should probably revise that. Live axle and independent suspension do not really mix, at least not the way you've done it. An axle should be either live axle , or independent, not both. You have not really geared down enough. if this vehicle were built, it would be really fast, but have no climbing power. Also, Power Functions XL motors have an enormous amount of power, relatively speaking. 4 may be a bit much for a first creation. There are a number of bracing issues as well, especially by the motors. a half stud offset like that is not a good idea, especially how you've go the motors braced. If this thing were actually built, the gears coupling the motors would start skipping, as the motors would naturally want to force themselves away from each other. Also, the torque tubes are not connected that well. your suspension connections are also probably not going to work, there is no linkage to keep the axle straight, and two gear racks on each side of the axle is unnecessary. You've also made a fairly common mistake, and used LDD as a design tool for Technic models, which is really hard to do, as there are some connections in LDD that are difficult if not impossible to make in real life. Also, if you are inexperienced, it's all too easy to make things that will not hold together in real life, where we have to deal with gravity and torque, and all that nonsense. But, there is hope, and other ways of gaining experience. Try building other people's creations, and seeing what works for them. Also, there are several databases with set instructions, which will help as well. Rebrickable.com is actually a great resource for beginners, as all of the creations posted there have instructions in some format. The site also allows you to plug in the set numbers of sets you already have, and will tell you what else you can make with those sets. Finally, I'd suggest that you keep things simpler at first. Maybe just make a simple vehicle with rear wheel drive and front wheel steering, and work up from there.

If there are pics, or any other information right now, would someone please post the link to it? Stop tormenting the rest of us!! Also, I hope we see the 2H models at the Nuremberg toy fair.
-
Pictures. Pictures Pictures. PICTURES. Can someone post links to the pictures, cause that's allowed, right? We just can't post extreme preliminary pictures, but links are fine, right? If we are getting longer cylinders, and lots of pneumatics, I'm skipping 42030, and going right for this.
-
Say whaaaaat?!?! Is this a Speed Champions set, or is this something else? Also, could you please link to the pictures in question, or maybe upload them to your Brickshelf gallery? I'd really like to see this.

Thanks a lot Paul, could you maybe post a link to the images, or give the site where you found them?

What environment should LEGO City Police patrol next?
Saberwing40k replied to legoman19892's topic in LEGO Town
Lego would never tackle a sensitive political issue like this. I'd like to see space police...oh wait, that's not city. What about Cyber/Internet Police? I'd actually like to see more bad guy sets, like a bank heist, or a street race, and the police show up to ruin everyone's fun. Actually, how about more Super Secret Police? -
Is there C model of 42030?
Saberwing40k replied to tmk81's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't recall anybody making a C model of it, at least, not yet. I honestly can't think of anything good you'd be able to make with it either, unless you wanted to make a tractor, or something. -
I don't think you can actually load a kilogram of dirt with the 42030, dirt simply does not weigh that much. Using something less dangerous, like little Lego bricks, or dry beans, would weigh even less. Do you seriously think that Lego would encourage people to dump dirt all over their set? Also, this is completely elementary, as the fact remains that the L350F is a Mining loader, and the Arocs is a Construction truck. I think that any tipper available that can be mounted on an Arocs chassis is too small to be used with an L350F. I'm hoping we don't get a tipper, unless it's a 3 way tipper, with a selector to change between side and rear tipping.

I'm sure most of you guys know of Vengit, the producers of the SBrick. I was thinking, since they already make the SBrick, a PF compatible element that Lego itself would never produce, maybe they could eventually expand their lineup to include more things? If they did so , what would you want them to make? I'd like to see some adapters, to connect various other batteries to the PF system, like a cable that would go from a common 7.2v RC batter to a PF plug, or a snap for a 9v battery, or even a system that plugs into the wall, like the old train speed regulator. Also good would be some small motors, and a proportional switch. Also along these lines, would it be a good thing if Lego endorsed this kind of thing, like they did for certain Mindstorms sensors?
