  1. Wait what? You mean you order your chromed parts from Hungary?
  2. This model is doing very well on Ideas. Maybe the best among the Model Team-like models.
  3. Yep, you have made some pretty cool doors before.
  4. Buy 8070 too and you can build anything! I had a much smaller inventory and I had much fun building stuff from the pieces.
  5. Or if it's the first time you give away instructions, maybe you should give it for free. I'm not fan of this instructions-for-money thing that's spreading, I really think there are not many models that qualify for their instructions being sold. And an LDD file? Seriously it's not that of a hard job to make an LDD version even for an inexperienced LDD modeller (especially since many of us make an LDD version for ourselves to preserve the model in a way). Making real instructions is at least a hard job and I can understand wanting charging for that (still not many models/instructions qualify for that). Your first instructions for sale without trying your other stuff is a big no for me personally. Sorry for the rant, nice model by the way. And what I wanted to say: if you give this one for free, you have better chance for many people to build it and get to know you and they will be more likely to pay for your next models.
  6. Jovel, may I "steal" your idea?
  7. I don't think the steering pivot is a huge problem with the Tumler, at least it doesn't have mudguards. Okay, the wheel can't turn as much before hitting the suspension arm. An exaggerated Ackermann would give decent turning radius while the outer wheel still wouldn't reach the suspension arm.
  8. That's why I said in the Tumbler thread that increasing size actually makes incorporating steering harder than easier. Sariel's solution is the best I've seen so far, and it still looks a bit off. I'm struggling with this problem for a while now, built many versions, maybe I will have to give up the project.
  9. I like the solution of assembling the double rear wheels. I came up with many versions for that but none of them was that simple.
  10. I agree with the original poster that I can feel less "attached" to an RC model since I don't have to touch it. But other than that, it is just a design choice. In my opinion, Lego is not really good for RC, there are better alternatives that still need to be assembled, can be MOC-ed etc (there's a metallic toy that highly resembles and based on Lego Technic, it was discussed in the forum some time ago). So I prefer models that fit Lego better and feel better for me, which are manually operated models. These can also include Power Functions if the operation is more convenient with them (obviously I hate turning knobs for 60 seconds to move something up or down). For me, cars are perfect examples for manual models, I would never consider building/designing purely RC car models, maybe I'd just design an RC mod to please RC fans and add an extra challenge to the design.
  11. I agree with Erik Leppen that the MODEL line was (or seemed to be) meant to be for display models. Steering and opening doors were probably there to be able to add some pose to the models on display. Some Revell or whatever models also had steering but that was not connected to any steering mechanism, it was only there for posing the wheels. Lego went further to add at least the most basic form of playability, because it was Lego after all (and the size of the Model Team models required steering to play with).
  12. I don't think that's a problem as long as a minimum number of functions has to be implemented (which is usually stated in the rules). IMHO with minimal functions, looks is not less legitime way to judge than the functions.
  13. The problem is that anyone can make multiple accounts and write up a few comments like "I'm honest, I'm a real person". I think even contestants should be examined before letting them to vote. I wouldn't think it's too hard to make an extra entry for a fake account... I may sound paranoid, but either let everyone vote or be strict about it. It's perfectly acceptable to let new members enter but don't let them vote (or exclude contestants from voting too).
  14. Plus usually if someone is good at model design (s)he is probably okay with basic advertising image design too. And the latter is more about effort and some level of standard than talent. Making a winner entry takes time and effort.
  15. More off, if you do make an LDD topic, please link it here.
  16. Wrong. It's about the fame. It doesn't matter if you win if you don't get the fame.
  17. We could go as far as naming only one entry. No points.
  18. I can imagine having to make a decision from equally good entries would result more in randomness of the top scorers. Because I in this contest, for example, could only chose from my favourites by flipping a coin (or wouldn't vote instead). Maybe this randomness would balance statistically. So dunno
  19. I don't agree with F1 style voting. On an F1 race, there is clearly an order of cars passing the finish line. In a contest like this, it's pretty easy to have almost equal entries for a particular voter (I would buy all these equally awesome entries and I wouldn't "more" buy or "less" buy one of them). In scoring based sports (like diving), there is no rule at all that you cannot give the same points to more contestants. I don't know how the idea of applying of F1 style voting even came up. As for the 1 point per entry voting: I think it's easy to solve with having much smaller max-point-per-entry value (like 4) and not forcing to allocate all the 20 (or whatever) points.
  20. May I humbly suggest my Red V12 Coupé? It's been already built by some people and Therion made a good job with the instructions: http://rebrickable.c...o/red-coupé-v12
  21. 3: 3 5: 2 14: 1 15: 1 16: 1 19: 1 21: 1 22: 3 23: 1 31: 1 38: 1 42: 2 52: 2
  22. I used to do game programming, but programming and Lego isn't good together, no time for both. I also do drumming in a progressive-punk-metal whatever band. My youtube channel linked in my signature has some videos of some of my programming projects.
