  1. But the whole problem with this invention is that you need to have at least variable speed input. It is (at least in most "old" factories) solved with a friction based variator of some sort. "More modern" modern factories probably use a variable wpeed motor. There is a perfectly reasonable goal of this device, but I can't remember what it was or how this thing is called so I can't google it. Maybe it is only used for increasing the speed range, which is pretty limited with friction variators.
  2. Maybe I'm mistaking this with another "revolutionary" invention, but it seems like a concept that's been used since something like 70 years, and I remember learning about it from a 30 year old book. The continuously variability comes from the continuous variability of one of the inputs.... As far as I know, it is used in the industry for continuously variable drives in factories, and the variability is usually solved with a belt variator between the primary constant speed input and the other input.
  3. I honestly don't get how two linear actuators can lift that thing.
  4. It's pretty hard to give an exact value. I think the ""best"" answer is that the model looks good if it's recognisable and looks convincing. Some models are have simple details and their shape is the most characteristic thing. Obviously, for models like this, the proportions have to be perfect (dunno, half stud precision for a 14 stud wide vehicle?). Other models have many details, some very characteristic details that fundamentally define the look (a grille, or headlight of some cars for example). In this case the you don't have to be so strict about the overall proportions, but you have to get the details right. For me, functions, playability and looks are all important, but I usually give up functional things first. If I have to give up too many functions, I give up the whole project.
  5. Sorry for the late reply. Does this link work? https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&confirm=oILl&id=0B3ju3vX1o4OuSkRxeWJGV3pSbjA
  6. Yes. Actually I don't know how the term is used, but I think the behaviour described by the Original Poster is the same that I'm talking about. Since a suspension-geometry-caused steer would return to center by itself as soon as the suspension compression is gone (and this kind of bump steer doesn't move the gear rack so it would be meaningless to ask about returning it to center).
  7. Isn't bump steer caused by the fact that the turning axle is outside the wheel? Which is especially true for Lego.
  8. You only live once. So I say put it under a steamroller.
  9. I don't see how seeing some additional, probably miscolored pictures of a model can spoil the pleasure of actually getting a set... And I don't get this undressing-a-woman analogy at all. I still have much pleasure with undressing my girl even though I saw her naked a million times. There is much more to it than visuals. The smell, the touch, sexual arousal and the excitement of what you are going to do in the next few hours (I'm talking about opening a Lego box)
  10. I wanted to say this. I also considered selling stuff, simply because of lack of space.
  11. So finally I uploaded the silent version of the video:
  12. That mudguard part looks pretty cool. Maybe the days of the gap above the front wheels in supercar models will end.
  13. Shnowmobile for the suspension. In the future the formula one pullback model for the six orange +o parts. And planning to buy 42009 for 32 L axles. Or is that a 2013 set?
  14. To repeat myself, the problem is not with the review. The problem is that only one Technic model ever made it to the 10.000 votes. What I mean by success and randomness is getting that 10.000 votes. I wouldn't care much if my models would be rejected at the review state, because I would be more that happy to get 10.000 votes.
  15. Ideas success is not about surprise. It's pretty random. So please continue with making WIP topics of your work. But I agree it has a little chance. But it's another topic that was discussed on the forums a few days ago.
  16. I love Tomik's work. C model designing is something I don't dare to try.
  17. And what could I say? I can't have two of my own MOCs built at a time... All my 12 pieces went into the Audi and I can feel myself a bad designer 'cause I used that much. Maybe I have lost 50% of my potential "customers" (2-3 people) for that reason.
  18. When I saw it on TheLegoCarBlog, I went crazy. I was a German WWII Tank maniac for quite a while, so I spent a lot with looking at them (even made paper model MOC). The first thing that caught my eyes was the perfect-looking proportions. Almost all Lego Tank models I've seen so far was off somewhere, or the models with good proportions were completely stud-covered. The surface you this tank is beautiful and the model's size is perfect too. There's only one little thing: I would have gone for a brick-built Model Team style engine instead.
  19. Actually I think it's the opposite. The smaller the model, the closer the rear mounted knob is to the ground. And at this scale your hand doensn't have enough space. I made a model when I was a kid in the same scale and same steering setup, and I remember the pain in my wrists. If you don't want a playable model, don't add HOG. But if you do want a playable mode, do it right. IMHO
  20. The steering is a very neat idea but it's not very ergonomic. It will be quite uncomfortable to steer from there. Your WIP photos are beautiful, as always.
  21. I guess the entries for the TRIPLE contest wouldn't....
  22. Yet, some submit the Silver Champion as a new set and it breezes through the moderation. You can safely submit a Tumbler model and title it as BATMAN TUMBLER, YUP THAT BATMAN TUMBLER with 72 pixel font and they won't notice it. Just don't forget to put the minifigure next to it.
  23. I don't think so. Jogreopresi submitted his awesome Mini entry and hardly gets votes. All this Cuusoo/Ideas thing seems to be too random for me. Awesome projects don't get recognition, okay models get 800 votes per week. Or my taste is totally off. Actually I'm pretty fed up with Ideas.
  24. How many Technic projects reached 10000? I thought only Sheepo's Lad Rover did. Could you post some links to the other Technic projects? Technic just doesn't seem to be popular enough on Cuusoo/Ideas. I've seen may Technic submissions that could pass the review because they are not that complicated AFOL aimed models. Not every MOCers like those overcomplicated over PFed models (I don't like them too much myself. Designing a sturdy reliable buildable model with only legal techniques that survives as a kid's toy is as much (if not more) of a challenge as building an overengineered Technic marvel that barely works out of the box and falls apart if you touch it on the wrong spot). EDIT: as I skimmed through the projects I support, there are not many submitted Technic sets at all...
