CHALLENGE II: Category C: At The Races
soccerkid6 replied to Basiliscus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wonderful use of those wing elements, and the dark orange cloth pieces The racing horses are well posed, and the amount of figs packed into the regular stand areas certainly conveys a crowded sporting event -
That's one rickety wooden floor! Really cool idea to have different colors of plaster on the various wall sections Very cool minifig combos as well
-
Haven't seen many custom made camels, and yours works very nicely! Especially considering how pose-able it is Nice little desert base to go with it
-
Looks like a well equipped barracks! Good call to use dark red for the roofs, and your dormer window technique is simple yet very effective Clever parts use for the large standard on top. Great that you were able to incorporate a well furnished interior too!
-
Beautiful tudor building! The stone first story is also top-notch, and you were able to make the angle of the walls look like a deliberate design choice rather than a run down building, which I think works perfectly here. Lovely roof with the staggered tiles of various colors And the pile of sacks, barrels, and sticks on the side is a nice touch Any chance of you taking more pictures in the future? Would love to see some more angles of this build

As mentioned by @MAB, the parts palette for minifigure elements was extremely limited. Mostly solid color torsos, legs, and very few head options too. I don't believe there was a single suitable printed option for medieval figs.
-
Exciting to see Lady Eleanor working towards restoring Bluevale Your rockwork is nicely varied without looking too chaotic, and the forced perspective mountains are quite effective. Good choice to have them topped with snow
-
Excellent round window technique The red and white roof looks a little off to me, a solid color or two similar colors mottled together might be better. Nice touch to have your character remove his helmet - and then back that up with your pictures and posing

Laesonar's Saga Ep. 9 - Much Needed Water
soccerkid6 replied to en_zoo's topic in Guilds of Historica
That head with the raised eyebrow on Laesonar is such a perfect expression for this story Lovely landscape with good color choices, and it's good to see you experimenting with different base styles -
Very unique dragon head, and it works well for this beast The consistent style of your dragons is lovely, and I hope you are able to get photos of them all together some day. Interesting choice to transition to reddish brown for the legs, and it certainly adds to the 'earth' feel

One of the coolest and most unique tavern designs I've seen The rounded roofs look absolutely brilliant and your incorporation of prefab boat hulls is spot on Lovely interior too!

Tremendous interior setup! Forges are something we see a lot of in LEGO form, but this one is something special Brilliant bellows, lovely lighting, and just the right amount of tools and other details scattered around

Gnomish Warehouse of Kashgar [VAR - Freebuild]
soccerkid6 replied to narbilu's topic in Guilds of Historica
The simple dark tan boxes are quite effective, and I like your use of the printed 2x2 tile over the door I think the bley four stud long bar for the door handle looks a little big. A different color bar would probably stand out better from the nearby bley stonework too. Another pretty building for Kashgar -
A simple touch that looks lovely here, is the wooden planks topping the stone stairs The low stone wall by the first story door is another excellent detail. As HQ said, your snow is excellent! And of course the tudor building is gorgeous

Thank you Josiah, I thought it was one of my best CCC builds, so I'm glad you like it so much Thanks man! John and I got a bunch of those from LUGbulk, and have had a lot of fun messing around with them. Super useful piece. Thanks Kai! The raised portions are something I took from this inspirational image I based the build off. Just noticed I forgot to link to that in the build description here Thank you! Thanks en_zoo. While mixing dark brown and reddish brown also looks great, and is something I do myself, for more elegant scenes like this I like to have their use be very patterned. Thank you mccoyed, it does seem to be a golden age for castle interiors Thank you Thanks Basiliscus! Glad to hear you mention the carpet as its sideways design took a bit of work to incorporate. Thank you! Thanks, I based that off this concept art. I think it makes a nice change from the typical arched fireplace Thanks a bunch! Thanks for the detailed comment HQ! I agree on the dark blue - especially as with that color I could use nexo knight shields for the banners. The chairs are a bit blocky, though personally I don't mind too much if my backs are a full stud thick sometimes. That said, your suggestion is something I'll consider for future furniture Thanks Gareth! Thank you Grover

Excellent wintry setting with the combination of barren and spiky pine trees, plenty of snow, and reddish brown ground Very fun seeing some new races developed in Mitgardia, and these minotaurs look like a rough bunch to cross paths with!
-
The neatly tiled street looks great and the colors all work well together You've been developing a very recognizable style with all your Varlyrio builds, and it's enjoyable seeing each new addition. Congratulations on the birth of your son

AFOL designer program
soccerkid6 replied to anothergol's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Like most of you, I've been a bit disappointed with most of the selected builds so far. Though it is good to see a few castle themed builds make the cut. I had submitted this model myself: 912 pieces if you were wondering. The house has a full interior that you can see here. -
Fascinating to see through Meiyo's perspective and the story is well written Wonderful use of pattern and repetition for the interior scene, and the tan furniture looks great against the reddish brown walls. Speaking of furniture, you did well avoiding the typical designs and coming up with some lovely, unique furnishings Very cool door and window designs in the last build, and gondolas are always fun to see in Varlyrio!

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
soccerkid6 replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome back Dathil! Lovely fig combos and the sideways tile floor looks fabulous If you wouldn't mind reformatting your character bio to match this format: Eryl Storrar (soccerkid6) Titles and profession: Short Bio: Eryl Storrar of Harburg is already a staunch Mitgardian despite his young age. Which should stand him in good stead as he likely will be lord of Harburg one day. Eryl's parents, Karsten and Karin, are the Lord and Lady of Harburg, while his uncle is Sir Glorfindel - Karsten's younger brother. Eryl has a twin sister named Elise, and like most twins, they get into plenty of mischief together. Hometown: Harburg Parts: Hair, Head, Torso, Arms, Hands, Legs Then I'll add you to the member index in the first post -
Prelude: Always Be Ready To Lend a Helping Shove
soccerkid6 replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice variety of building designs while maintaining the Varlyrian style I like how you used the printed 2x2 heroica tile as a sign, and it was a good choice to include a ladder on the wharf wall
