  1. Plenty of clever designs and details to admire here I really like the wood framed entry into the stables, and the small half arch incorporated into the stairs makes a great storage nook The little fence, multiple awnings, and curtains in doorways are also top notch
  2. And another freebuild! Can't let Kaliphlin get too far ahead
  3. Entry number four into the Colossal Castle Contest XVI. I built this house for another project, but figured I might as well enter it into the miscellaneous category. There is a full interior inside the house, accessed via lift off roof. I'll be using this build in a tutorial covering how to angle buildings on landscapes in the future - but it probably won't be posted until the CCC is done Many farmers have small homesteads in the tundra of Mitgardia. This particular family’s livestock consists of chickens and goats. You can find more images on Brickbuilt. Thanks for looking, and feedback is always appreciated
  4. A couple more good buildings for Mophet The larger building would benefit from some depth change in the walls. Right now it looks very box like since the walls are flat. Windows, series of arches, or small additions like balconies can help with that. I like the open arch approach for the blacksmith shop
  5. Unfortunately I don't think our pictures do the waterfall justice, as it looked wonderful in real life. The slight curve you achieved, along with the depth change by having various tiles at different stacked atop each other just isn't apparent in this low flat angle shot. This image is what I imagine this sort of waterfall would look like in real life. " Very clever plants using the green long cattle horn in leaves
  6. Thanks Blaze, I added you to the members index
  7. That's the hope Good to hear from you Blaze! It's great to know you're sticking with us in the North, and things are going well! If you want to make an updated picture of your sig fig, and a description in this format: Eryl Storrar (soccerkid6) Titles and profession: Short Bio: Eryl Storrar of Harburg is already a staunch Mitgardian despite his young age. Which should stand him in good stead as he likely will be lord of Harburg one day. Eryl's parents, Karsten and Karin, are the Lord and Lady of Harburg, while his uncle is Sir Glorfindel - Karsten's younger brother. Eryl has a twin sister named Elise, and like most twins, they get into plenty of mischief together. Hometown: Harburg Parts: Hair, Head, Torso, Arms, Hands, Legs Then I can get you added to the members list in the first post Looking forward to seeing some WIP photos of your build
  8. Thanks Alfadas Years of practice paying off I guess Thank you! Thanks. The entry page wasn't up for a bit, but is now as you're already aware I see Thanks Kai! I realized early on that a slope would make the landscape much better, and am glad my extra work paid off. Thanks pombe Thanks dG! I built the ballistas first, and think they actually took more time to design and build than the much larger landscape. Thanks HQ, it was good to put our numerous wargs to use. I agree that dark brown is a tremendous landscape color, and now that we have a good selection of parts in the color, I expect to get a lot of use out of it. Thanks Ayrlego! And yes, I'm sure you wouldn't regret buying some dark brown Thanks Adde! Thanks Basiliscus Thank you en_zoo. We used to have even more wargs, but gave some away because we had so many. It's unfortunate that they're so expensive now. Thanks! Thank you Grover, but I would hate to discourage you from entering! You've already shown you can make some really excellent MOCs, and I think you should push ahead with a siege weapon build
  9. Stunning interior. Your use of of very purposeful decoration instead of wall texture works beautifully Superb way to give the impression of a thin carpet going up the steps, and the awnings over the dais look lovely. The large book case and golden braziers are techniques I'll be sure to borrow in the future
  10. Very nice addition for Mophet. The decorations with scroll bricks and unique crenelation style up top look great Good mix of colors for the desert landscape too
  11. Lovely road design that works perfectly for Kaliphlin The dark orange grass stalks fit the scene well, and that's a nice collection of swine!
  12. Very good use of space in both scenes The blue and white brick layer with small arched window looks great in the temple. Good work with the garden paths and plants too. As Henjin said, a few less colors in the temple scene would make it more cohesive, but that sort of thing will be easy to fix when you have more parts
  13. @Ayrlego Looking great already! Perhaps some cloth elements could be useful to finish off the roof? Wedge plates are another option, though probably would be a bit more of a headache to use those Posted another freebuild:
  14. Built for the Used Cart Salesman category of the Colossal Castle Contest XVI, this model is my third entry this year. The challenge of creating the look of a medieval city on such a small foot print was an enjoyable task, and I’m quite pleased with how the tudor houses turned out. Using sideways headlight bricks with tiles for cobblestone is an old idea, that I just made my own version of that design for this scene. Harburg is a bustling city and Lord Karsten often likes to walk the streets and see firsthand what goes on. Today he is accompanied by his daughter Elise, and while they wander around the city they see many vendors peddling various wares from their carts. Baked goods are always one of the most difficult items to refuse – the savory smells wafting from bakers’ wares are so tempting! More pictures: You can see more images on Brickbuilt, as usual. Thanks for looking, and as always your feedback is appreciated
  15. Thanks Josh Thanks Alfadas! Thank you, I had done similar things before, but never gotten it to work quite as smoothly. Thank you for the input! The wall look a bit thicker when fully tiled, and I do indeed tend to have rather thin walls from a historic point of view. I find it difficult to have enough space for all I want in a scene, and usually keep the walls smaller as a result. I am working on another model now with more appropriately sized fortifications though!
  16. Like some other Eurobricks members, I just want Santa to bring back Castle sets: Great to see this annual tradition continuing!
  17. Oh my I think this is my favorite build from you yet, and you've had plenty of quality models before! The overall colors and aesthetics are stunning. Everything works together beautifully from the landscape to stone walls to timber sections. I'm amazed by how well the log brick and standard brick walls in reddish brown/dark brown work, and the large set of doors looks perfect. You used a half stud offset between the main wooden walls and the wall portion under the largest roofline? Gives a very nice, but subtle depth change there. Normally I try to avoid hollow studs in my landscapes, but your use of numerous dark tan jumper plates looks just fine I'll be coming back to admire this quite a lot in the future
  18. Excellent color choices that work well with the heavily textured style The target with arrows embedded at the center is super neat, and I like the tree design. A few windows would look nice, and I'm not sure about the croissant bird - its design is neat, but the different color hands make it look less like a bird, and more like a baked good stuck in a tree. Keep up the good work
  19. You've already become great at snow-scaping! The tall drifts are wonderful, and the snow covered bushes complement them well Ronan and his horse look well equipped to deal with the cold weather
  20. Rather unusual to see yellow buildings in the guilds, but you got it to work The harbor area is my favorite portion with the stone wharf walls and bridge. Brutal storyline
  21. Work in progress peek at another upcoming build: Rather pleased with how smoothly the sloping wall base works here.
  22. Thank you very much! It's great to hear you enjoyed the build so much Thanks dG! As a matter of fact, there is a list of medieval professions on classic-castle that I sometimes reference. Other times I just think about the things that have been needed throughout time Thanks Grover! The cut away is permanent, I realized I would be stretching our parts collection with the chimney and front walls, and thus just left the back two walls off entirely. Thanks Gideon! Good to hear your thoughts on the irregular cutaway style Thanks man! You are very welcome! It's wonderful to hear our tutorials are useful
  23. One of the prettiest medieval interior builds I've seen Your lighting efforts have certainly paid off! I like your approach to the library shelves, with them built right into the walls as well The clean architecture is lovely, and I agree that it's nice seeing not so hyper textured castle builds! Personally I feel like the abundance of texture can often lead to less detail in a model, as people rely on the texture to make a building interesting, instead of adding different architectural features and more interesting layouts. You have plenty of good furniture designs on display, and the skeleton leg fireplace grate is excellent Any particular reason you didn't use all standard bricks for the rafters?
  24. Thanks Kai! Thank you, I tried to pack in plenty of kitchen life Thanks! I'm glad to hear you like the stairs. They took some experimentation and I was unsure whether I liked them or not at first. Thank you Thanks HQ. I expected to hear some feedback along these lines, and almost didn't include pillars/arches for exactly this reason. Ultimately I decided the uniqueness, aesthetic, and ability to hang various ingredients from the rafters was worth the compromise in build visibility. Since the CCC allows five pictures per entry, I also knew I didn't have to get the entire build across in a single image. I didn't want to go any higher with the arches since the room is already fairly tall (two minifigures stacked would be at not risk of bumping the ceiling) and I wanted to make sure it looked like a utilitarian kitchen and not an extravagant hall or throne room. It's always good to hear your detailed thoughts though Hmm, maybe I should combine the two for a snowy interior scene Thanks en_zoo! Thanks mccoyed! The hanging pots and bags were something I had in mind from the start of this build, and was a little nervous about how I would achieve it. Fortunately those brown whips made things quite simple Thanks Garmadon! We have a quite a bit of medium dark flesh now, so I'm having fun experimenting with it. Thanks dG Thank you! I like using reddish brown bases for interior scenes. Thank you Captain Dee Thanks! It was good to use a bunch of our pots and pans at once. Thanks Mike!
  25. This peddler looks to have a little of just about everything! Excellent basket designs, and that fabric element is always so useful Lovely landscape as well. The SNOT portions are smoothly incorporated and the colors work beautifully
