Excellent builds to showcase your character's family The column design in Besil's scene is super cool And using panels to allow for the loose slope cobblestone technique on such a small build is quite clever. It will be interesting to see more of the Conzagas!

Laesonar's Saga Ep.7 - Laelariel [Part 2]
soccerkid6 replied to en_zoo's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great to see you back in the guilds Very strong build to return with too! I like the unique aspect the blue moss gives, and your use of arches in the wall gives a very solid look Pretty tudor-work for the house, with just the right level of decoration at the roofs. -
Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

@Ayrlego Goodness that is already looking incredible I think those roof colors work fine as thatch, and agree that more brown on the roof would be a bit overpowering. As for base style, if you need a fair bit of depth and want an irregular edge, than this design works well: My build log gives a look at that base style in progress. And here a few other irregular base options by other buildiers: Really excited to see you finish it, and I'll try and share some WIPs of my own soon -
Thank you Dalle! I was also reminded of that game when assembling the cobblestone Thanks Rogue! It's a bit time and parts intensive, but I'd love to see the technique used more. Thanks Kai! I was really happy with the capes as roles of cloth, so I'm glad you appreciated that setup too Thank you! If I had more patience, some of the more unsightly gaps would not be there, as sometimes I would bump stones a bit out of position and didn't bother rotating them back to where they should be. Thanks Isaiah! Great to hear so many people are enjoying the interior here, I was quite happy with it Thanks Basilicus! The free floating cobblestone is indeed free floating, and not connected whatsoever. I finished the tutorial, so you can check out the design on Brickbuilt. Thank you Yes it is rather piece intensive Here's a link to the tutorial on the cobblestone. Thank you very much Windusky Thanks HQ. I thought even the stonework had a rather clean style, so I tried to maintain that consistency throughout the rest of the building - very well kept without any obvious dilapidation. Thank you! Thanks Mike

CHALLENGE I: Rebuilding the City Wall
soccerkid6 replied to MiloNelsiano's topic in Guilds of Historica
Your excellent construction details are the real star of the show here I'd say your research paid off well! Great use of arches throughout the castle walls. And my favorite detail is your excellent wagon and harness design -
That gateway is epic Looks incredibly Dwarven, yet quite unique from other Dwarven architecture I've seen built with LEGO before The cliff face is nicely built, and the tree above adds a beautiful touch to the scene. Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

Very good use of limited parts The house as a whole looks quite nice with the stone first level and wood second story. Nice work angling the building and adding plenty of fun touches with figs and animals too. That monkey just likes to hang out?

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
soccerkid6 replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Sounds great! There is no dedicated WIP thread, and members usually just post their in progress pictures in their guild threads. Which works well as then there fellow guild members easily see it and can offer feedback. So yep, post your WIP photos here -
Well done making an interesting stone wall for the backdrop in the first scene. The various windows and arch setup look great I second HQ's opinion that the tilted 1x2 tiles look a bit off though. Neat brick built tents at the mercenary camp, and your story telling is very good as usual.

Challenge I: Repairs in Sir Patman's Cottage
soccerkid6 replied to Patgeo's topic in Guilds of Historica
The dwarf repair team look to be a group of happy, hard working fellows! Neat layout with the building situated atop a rock outcrop, and I like the winding stairs leading up to it Wonderful interiors down in the basement. Really fun idea to have a secret room, and the goodies inside would make any treasure hunter ecstatic- 19 replies

Very imposing structure that makes brilliant use of the plate and tile wall design Especially when paired with those columns, and the lovely terra cotta roofs which add a nice touch of color The various peasants are all well posed and I hope we get to see the result of their labors in restoring the manor. I like how you included the Varlyrio colors in your border too

Incredible gatehouse! It's realistically large, features beautiful detailing, and those roofs The main arch design is super cool, and you did well showing the repair work on the walls. Fun way to allow a minifigure to carry a log on his shoulder too

A comfy place for peasants to live
soccerkid6 replied to Orange Leader's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That is a charming medieval house Wonderful use of color, and the clean style works beautifully. Lovely roof design too Any particular reason you didn't use this for Guilds of Historica? I'm looking forward to seeing plenty more medieval builds from you -
Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
soccerkid6 replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
@Basiliscus: We take all of the free builds for the period, and give them credit based on their size. Some builds from each Guild also get additional points for quality of build (we take into account story and photography to a lesser degree). This way we can account for both the quantity and quality of the builds from each Guild. Note: Every Guild will have the same number of free builds scored for quality each period, unless a Guild has an especially low number of free builds during that free build period. -

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
soccerkid6 replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Finally got around to posting this Anyone else working on a Mitgardian build? I finished two more small ones recently, and am hoping to finish several more during the Colossal Castle Contest Also a general reminder for everyone, don't forget to post your freebuilds in the registration topic. That ensures we get all our hard earned points -
I came up with the basic idea for this wall technique, and figured I should make a full building to see if it worked. Various builders like Simon NH, ~Cab~, and Marcel V. have used similar wall techniques before, though my execution is slightly different than theirs. The cobblestone street also uses an idea that has been implemented many times before – free floating pieces. There is a tutorial available on the wall and one for the cobblestone technique for this build will be posted in the future. It was fun to make another highly detailed building with full interior. Gardar has a fine cloth shop in Harburg, and supplies Lord Karsten with any fabrics needed for use at the castle. Today Eryl and Elise are paying for another order of textiles, and they enjoy chatting with the old merchant. "And father would like three more rolls of red wool for his troops' uniforms," Eryl stated as Elise looked around at the various fabrics on display. Sometimes Eryl was annoyed by being required to run errands for his parents, but a visit to Gardar's shop always meant fun as the old merchant was a kind man who well remembered what it was like being a young boy. Gardar replied with a cheerful smile that was all but invisible under his thick beard, "Certainly Eryl! Are you sure he doesn't want some extra cloth to make a proper uniform for you though?" "Maybe another time Gardar, Father says I'll beginning proper weapons training before long! But for today we just need those three rolls" "Well, I'm sure you'll be getting plenty of fine uniforms then. Just don't be too hard on your instructors, they're not as young as you are." Eryl laughed and said, "I'll try not to beat them up too bad," as he shared a conspiratorial wink with the merchant while giving him two coins as payment for the goods.. More pictures See all the details on Brickbuilt. Thanks for looking, your feedback is always greatly appreciated

Multiple MOC at the same time

Usually I work on just one build at a time, and finish it before moving onto anything else. Sometimes special circumstances lead to me working on multiple models at once though. -
Challenge 1: The Far East Guard Tower (Mitgardia)
soccerkid6 replied to A_Goodman's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very glad to have you in Mitgardia! This is a great start to your GoH builds | The tower looks like it's in good hands and will soon be ready to protect the border well. The sturdy scaffolding, crane, and block stacks are all excellent. And I love your little birch tree Your second batch of photos are much better too -
Seeing this house raising reminds me of the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I can only hope this framework doesn't meet a similar fate Excellent action and the framing portions look quite realistic. Nice SNOT timber floor too!

Good to see you getting an entry in, and I'm sure your future builds will be better Nice touch with the small plates and cheese slopes to indicate chips of rock from the shaping process. Besides the previous suggestions, I think using some slopes and inverted slopes in the stone wall to give cracks and more organic crumbled edges would help showcase it's poor condition
