  1. Why would we need to discuss both together? Here we talk about the builds and the minifigures and in the other we talk about the game itself and how the packs interact with the game. Ultimately there's going to be some people who buy these packs only for the pieces, so this topic is the ideal place for anyone interested in the parts themselves. I am wondering if the Dorothy minifigure will resemble the one in the game (I'm just assuming we're getting a physical version of her considering she is the main character). I mean I know they can do shoe printing (As they did it with Rocket Racoon), I've just never seen them do it on a normal pair of legs though. Plus I really want that hair piece. Makes me wonder if we'll see actual sets to tie in with this game.
  2. It looks like everything detaches from the stands, this might be a great way to get single minifigures. Granted they'll be really expensive, but I can deal with that. It'll be interesting to see what characters and worlds we get through this. I thought it was odd that Raven didn't appear with the Teen Titans this year, maybe they're planning on releasing her through one of these packs. It's actually kind of brilliant, releasing exclusive characters through a game platform to complete your collection. The Wizard of Oz stuff kind of intrigues me, looks to be a lot of interesting little pieces. Having the hover board from back to the future is really awesome as well. Honestly I don't mind paying a lot if these are the type of new molds we'll be getting for these.
  3. Well, that's a surprise, but a pretty good one at that. I'm definitely surprised about the Wizard of Oz, I just didn't see that coming.
  4. Star Wars and Scooby Doo aren't the same by a long shot. And yes, nearly every wave has a remake. However a lot of those remade sets are years apart from the last time they were made. There might be five to ten years between some remakes. And Star Wars has the benefit of being a much bigger franchise. When it comes to hero characters Star Wars has three main casts across three trilogies and that doesn't even count TV shows, video games and comic books. Plus almost all of those characters have a handful of variations due to changing looks/costumes across the years (Usually with drastically different costume styles and colors). Plus they have a ton of villains and an entire universe of supporting characters. And the fan base is so large and demanding even characters like Willrow Hood have become an action figure. Scooby Doo on the other hand only has five hero characters (More if you want to add gimmick characters like Scrappy into the mix). There is some variation to their costumes, but most aren't particularly notable or drastic. When it comes to monsters/villains there's quite a few of them, but a lot of them repeat the same gimmicks. For instance the Zombie we're getting this year is one of five identical Zombies that's appeared throughout the franchise, each one is just a color swapped version of the first Zombie. This Zombie isn't even the same one from Where are you, but looks so alike that few people actually recognize the difference. And that's not particularly uncommon for Scooby Doo as the Black Knight and the Mummy have the same problem. So even though there's probably hundreds of monsters there's probably less than a hundred that people are dying to have. Finally Scooby Doo has very repetitive locations and very few vehicles, and considering a fair share of Lego products are just vehicles that's kind of a problem. It can be a challenge to do location based sets and fit them into small price points, hence the cavalcade of vehicles we get in most themes. This first wave alone already is giving them mystery machine colored vehicles they never owned. Scooby Doo has a lot of source material, but not the amount Star Wars has. And it definitely doesn't have the fan base that Star Wars has nor the billions of dollars in revenue to back it up. I love Scooby Doo and I hope it has many waves, but I don't expect it too. Now there's every possibility that the new show and movies might be a smash hit and reinvigorate the franchise to a point where the WB might want Lego to keep on making sets, but for the time being I just don't see that happening (Though I hope it does).
  5. You're right, there is a ton of source material. The problem is that it would easily get repetitive as there's many similar locations and monsters. I'd like to see this theme go on for some time, but realistically I think two is probably what we'll get. Maybe more if that new show is a hit. As for the CMF I think it's the only way we'll get the monsters we want. There's a lot of iconic monsters in the franchise it might be impossible to get a fair number of them from sets alone.
  6. I can see them doing one more wave for Scooby Doo as they're missing a few vital spooky locations. I'm thinking a castle, a graveyard, a ghost ship, a circus/theme park and maybe an abandoned mine would round out the theme well. I'm hoping to see Charlie, Miner Forty-Niner, Spooky Space Kook, the creeper and Redbeard make it into sets. Really a CMF for this theme would be awesome (But I doubt that'll happen for now unless these turn out to be majorly popular). I could also see them doing a few sets when the next movie comes out.
  7. It doesn't come out until fall, there's really no reason to promote it so early. And when the time comes there's already promotion in place, they're going to air a TV special to tie in with the theme, plus WB has Lego Scooby Doo DTV movies already in the works. They'll promote it when it's actually going to be released. And that Doctor Who teaser is barely a teaser at all. Literally it's just a video of a head. Meanwhile Scooby Doo has been advertised at several toy fairs and in several notable news publications and has good word of mouth not to mention all of the sets have been officially revealed. So the Scooby Doo advertising so far is a lot more than anything we've had for Doctor Who.
  8. To me it doesn't look like Miner Forty-Niner or the prospector. There's similarities to both, but neither are a clear match. I don't think that picture is supposed to be a reference, at least not to another monster or a CMF. These sets all seem to have their own mystery and to me the painting looks like a clue. In a traditional episode Velma would see this painting and realize that the owner of the house was a prospector and that the monsters haunting the house are trying to scare them away so that they can find the gold.
  9. The Hulkbuster set is on sale for $23.99 at Target right now. My Target was almost sold out of them.
  10. After seeing the announcement about the animated Batman 66 movie coming out next year that will include Catwoman I'd say it's pretty likely that the cat lady hairpiece from the Halloween CMF is intended for a 66 set at some point. Granted it could always be coincidence, but I tend to think the movie means it's more than that.
  11. A new Death Star would be awesome. The last one I didn't have money for when it was first released and now I wouldn't want to get it with as outdated as most of the minifigures are. Hopefully they finally update Princess Leia's torso print as they still haven't done that.
  12. Well that's super disappointing. I mean obviously they couldn't sculpt anything new for a polybag but to mislabel something so badly is unacceptable and honestly pretty pointless. All in all I'm becoming a bit disappointed with how this theme. I was really hoping they'd give us some new dinosaurs and so far we've mostly gotten recolors and only two new dinosaurs (One of which is a movie only fictional creation). I'm hoping they do Jurassic Park sets at some point to fill in the gaps. I would really love a proper Gallimimus and the games design for it is pretty awesome.
  13. I don't know if I see them using Dr. Wu as the exclusive. I mean putting an exclusive minifigure from the largest and most expensive set in as the exclusive seems like an odd move. It's also one of the more boring choices they could've went with. It does make me wonder if perhaps they didn't choose any characters from the first movie because they're saving them for actual sets down the line. Ultimately I'm not too bummed out if it ultimately does turn out to be Dr. Wu. It would be nice to have another Amber piece and the torso and legs are plenty reusable.
  14. Miles Morales and Iron Spider aren't the same as the standard Spider-man suit (One's another character all together and the other's a story specific costume). And the only upgrade to the normal suit is boots, otherwise it's still the same old awful printing. I would really like a much more detailed and perhaps darker colored version of the normal suit (Something in the vein of the ASM2 variant with actual boots).
  15. I just don't see it being War Machine. We got one in the Iron Man 3 sets plus his Iron Patriot variation for the last preorder bonus. I don't see them giving us another version of Rhodey for this pre-order bonus. I could see them doing Coulson. I'd like to see them give us a new variation of Spider-Man (because I'm super tired of the current one, new boots just don't cut it for me), but that seems terribly unlikely.
  16. 3) Brand recognition. Even without the minifigures the vehicles still all signify what brand the set is attached to. It's why Spider-man uses red and blue vehicles, why Batman uses black (and sometimes very dark grey) and why Jurassic World uses blue.
  17. I kind of agree. Admittedly the dino molds do sort of throw the builds out of proportion for the cost, but honestly I think they're focusing on the wrong things anyway. I mean cages, paddocks and workman vehicles are fun and all but I'd rather have had a part of the park instead. A monorail or the visitors center would have been much more interesting. So far the play feature in these sets seems to be catching dinosaurs and that's about it. They really could have been more inventive than that. Who knows, maybe this is what the license holder wanted. I'll get the sets, but mostly for the dino's and some spare parts.
  18. What? C3PO's torso is a red coat in the 2015 Advent calendar.
  19. Short of a natural disaster I don't see these sets being delayed. Lego themselves confirmed the release date only a month ago. So I highly doubt anythings changed since then.
  20. Yeah, but the entire body (Except for hands and hip) is a darker gold than the head. The only reason I noticed this keychain was different at all was how light the head looked in comparison to everything else, and it was like that on all the C3PO's they had in stock. I compared it to the Droid Escape version and the color is noticeably darker all over. This might just be an update of the minifigure in general. This print is far superior with it's added details and honestly the printing quality looks much better in general (Thinner and more accurately placed lines). And C3PO's wires do actually change throughout the saga. The colors change slightly but the real change is the wire configuration. Most of the time (And probably what people are most familiar with) is what's portrayed on the minifigure; a mess of wires going in several directions. The other version of his wiring has all the wires lined up in straight lines. I do tend to think they made this change for a reason though and I'm expecting to see this version in a set at some point.
  21. I just bought it Saturday. Interestingly the arms, torso and legs seem to be a darker gold than the head, hands and hip piece.
  22. Interestingly the C3PO keychain has been updated with a new torso and leg printing. The leg printing is from the Sandcrawler, but interestingly the torso is not. It looks very similar, but lacks the damage and bolt. I'm kind of wondering if this torso is for an episode 7 version of him. Also I just realized now that Lego is doing dual molding for legs C3PO can finally have his silver leg.
  23. It's nice to know the jeep is actually buildable, I just hope the tour cars are too (The little we've seen look practical). It would really be nice to get some Jurassic Park sets. I'm hoping maybe in the winter wave they do sets for it. I would really like to get some of those minfigures from the trailer and of course the Gallimimus. I mean Indiana Jones managed to get a few waves covering multiple movies, so I think JP deserves it too.
  24. It's certainly possible. When the theme was announced it was also said that direct to video movies would be released in the future to tie-in with the theme, so that does seem to imply some future plan for the theme.
  25. It is interesting that the game is called Jurassic World when three out of four movies in the game are under the Jurassic Park banner. Makes me wonder if merchandising from now on whether from the old or new movies will just be under the Jurassic World banner. Perhaps we could get JP sets in this theme after all despite the theme being named after the most recent movie.
