  1. I agree it'll mostly be animated characters, but I'm thinking the only Disney channel characters will see will have been featured in a movie at some point. I just see them picking more universally well known characters. Also I don't really think Disney could own the rights to the long legs. The long legs are just a taller version of the regular legs. There's nothing special about them, nothing that link them directly to Woody either. It would be one thing if the legs had been sculpted to be extra skinny like Wood's, but there's nothing other than printing distinguishing the piece as belonging to a Disney character. I think it's as generic as the short legs, so it would be strange if they had rights to it.
  2. It'll be great to have a book that can actually be held by a minifigure. Also I love the way they put a hinge on it, that's so much better than bending the plastic. It's kind of a shame there's not much else to these sets though, the designs aren't bad, I just don't find them that interesting.
  3. I like the set. Even though I'm not a Doctor Who fan I still might pick this up. I'm glad Lego has finally perfected the skirt without resorting to clothe elements, the printing plus dual molding works wonderfully. Hopefully Lego can perfect the robe/trench coat printing next. This method is okay, but they should have at least printed on the sides of the legs, but I suppose they didn't due to not being able to print on the sides of the hip piece. Still I think there must be another method.
  4. Why bother with a car that small? Made up of two specially molded parts no less... That just seems pointless, especially when there's already a very good version of him out there, just in brick form.
  5. Well I wouldn't mind them redoing Princesses in minifigure form. However I think if they retread any of of those characters we'd probably see a different version of them, probably how they appear in any subsequent remake. Like I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2015 Cinderella since we've already had an animated version in mini-doll form.
  6. Yeah, but it's also the laziest way they could have done this. They took already established characters and threw them into high school. It's lazy and pandering. I'm glad DC is finally stepping up their game and diversifying, but I expected a little more effort than "Super Hero High." I don't know why they didn't take the Batgirl, Wonder Girl and Supergirl DC Nation shorts and turn that into a series, at least that showed some imagination. I'm interested to see how this translates into Lego form. It really does look like it'll be mini-dolls though. On the plus side we may get a few interesting pieces out of it (The hair pieces they'd create to match those designs might be of some use). Unfortunately the redesigns for these characters seem to mostly be on the crappy side, so I don't expect these will look good even in mini-doll form. But who knows, Lego has surprised me before.
  7. I had a sudden realization today, the Banshee's hair from the recent CMF looks quite a bit like Hermione's hair. Makes me wonder if that piece was made with the intent to use it later in Dimensions...
  8. It's interesting. It barely looks Lego though. Of course there was really no way they were going to be able to stick with the traditional minifigure for such odd and bizarre looking characters. So really I bare them no ill will. Really while it may not be fitting I at least am glad Angry Birds will finally get some decent products, honestly their other toys have looked like crap (usually very cheap looking). Somehow I think Lego can make this work, even if it looks quite strange. Glad to see an actual egg piece. Hopefully there's a hole on the bottom so minifigures can hold them (I can only assume they do).
  9. I would think Teen Titans Go minifigures would unlock Jump City. After all there's more to the DC universe than what's currently in the game.
  10. After watching some of the Dimensions playthrough I'm kind of hoping we see Cinderella in this CMF with a special mold for the slippers. I mean I thought Dorothy's slippers looked sort of wacky when I first saw them, but after seeing the design up close I think it's actually a pretty clever looking mold, I'm kind of curious to see how it would look as an actual piece. And honestly I thought the minidoll version was lacking in that respect, especially when you consider the core part those shoes play in that story. Hopefully we get more information for this CMF soon. I'm very curious to see what this series will turn up.
  11. I really have to say I'm impressed with what I've seen of the story, it's very good so far and the humor has really been top notch. Makes me wonder if they'll end up throwing together a DTV movie for this game as it's cutscenes are very cinematic and it already has a movie quality cast.
  12. A net trap would have been perfect. And I couldn't agree more about hidden doors and trap doors. I would have loved a sliding bookcase especially.
  13. I've seen the episodes and I'm not bothered by the liberties taken. The reality is that there's a lot of fan favorite monsters and locations so combining different episodes together helped to include more of what fans wanted. I'm not bothered by combining several mansions into one but admittedly I do find it strange that they didn't include a single villain who actually haunted a mansion (Vasquez castle, Franken castle and the county museum). The Mummy set doesn't bother me either. The Department of Archaeology as presented in the episode had many museum style displays, in fact the building was presented as a campus museum at least visually. The set gets that feeling right, they just make it too ornate, the gold elements are probably too much in comparison to how the display actually looked. Really though the only thing this set should have changed is the inclusion of the coin that the Mummy was after and the treasure should have been a diamond scarab. I'm not overly sure there's been a mobile robotic tree in the cartoon. There have been plenty of monster trees depicted in the Scooby universe. Going on looks alone this looks like a combination of the Dryad (Batman and Robin episode) and the enchanted tree's (From Witches ghost) with a robot function added. Really I do love this build and even if it's not directly based on any existing monster in the Scooby lore it's still looks good and fills all my monster tree needs. The only set that truly bothers me is the lighthouse. I love the build but the swamp monster doesn't fit for a seaside mystery. They should have included Captain Cutler (His episode even featured a lighthouse). I don't mind them only loosely using inspiration from the episodes, but including a random villain who's never even appeared in any Scooby Doo series was just a poor decision and a waste of a minifigure slot. I mean I can take reusing old designs (The Mummy's torso) and cheaping out and including pieces that don't match source (The Black Knights helmet), but completely making up a character that's not even that interesting or new is just wasteful. Even worse there's still no explanation on who this really is, that's just maddening. Admittedly I don't like the spike ball trap in the mansion either. It's not from any episode I've seen and I'm not sure it fits that well. Most monsters in the series only want to scare the gang away. The spike ball trap feels more like it would kill them rather than plainly scare them away.
  14. I expect we'll get a couple minifigures next year, at least one for the TV special when it comes to video. Plus as I recall they announced there was going to be a direct to video movie release too. So there's a good chance we'll get more monsters that way.
  15. If this really is the only wave and characters we ever get than this lineup proves to be even more confusing. Not including some of the most iconic characters like the Creeper and Space Kook seems like a waste. It's even more of a waste to include a made up monster (Mr. Brown) and overly generic monsters like the Ghost (Which features one new print, the head). I get the feeling we'll see something else from this theme. And who knows, it could pull a Spongebob and one day just come back. And other than getting more monsters there's not really a reason to have sets every year (A CMF could accomplish most of what I want). Possibly they might just be waiting to see how the theme does. Really though this interview doesn't seem to reveal anything that particularly interesting or new. He didn't really explain any of the things we really wanted to know. With as vague as he was being what are the odds he really knows anything about the future of this theme.
  16. I took it to mean an octagon split into four, but I guess it could be only half of it. I'm sure they'll clarify it eventually.
  17. Interesting. Appears that the Batmobile is the LB3 version with new stud shooters. Which if we get that it's a little bit too bad for me as I'd already built a physical version of it, but on the other hand they've probably improved it over the game model (I like these wheels better). I like the cowl printing. The only thing I don't like is the white eyes, but unfortunately that cowl sits too high for normal eye printing. Maybe one day they'll create a cowl that actually sits at normal eye level. I'm still hoping we get a new cowl for Batgirl though, I hate the tall ears on her current cowl. So please Lego, make a new Batgirl!
  18. No, I think they meant that it's an octagon and each segment of it is composed of a different build; computers, stairs, etc.
  19. It is odd they acquired a license to only produce one physical minifigure, not even the most desirable one... It's even more surprising when you factor in how much promotion the Oz portion of this game is getting. Perhaps they'll do something down the line.
  20. Warner bros owns the Gene Wilder one, Paramount sold it years ago. So the only royalties involved would be paid to the estate of Roald Dahl and that's true for both movies. And anyway Paramount was only the distributor, they didn't even make the movie. Quaker Oats did.
  21. I'd expect a movie version over book just because of recognizability. And I'd expect the older one just because of nostalgia. I mean Lego could have easily just used the book version of Oz which is in the public domain, but instead opted to use a license instead, so obviously they're banking on the popularity of that particular version of the story. I would assume that in the case of Wonka they'd do the same and pick the nostalgic version rather the book or "new" version. Though they could always do what they did with Batman and include both. Somehow two fighting Wonka's would be as awesome as two fighting Batmen... As for if this is the wrong thread for this discussion or not I think this sits in kind of a grey area. Speculating whether or not other Warner Bros properties will show up in a game that utilizes mostly Warner Bros properties feels somewhat relevant and the threads title is pretty broad in topic. I don't think that a little speculation would hurt. Honestly though if the mods or other members don't want that discussion here we can always just create another thread for it. It would indeed. It would also be pretty different to have a world that's mostly an interior location rather than exterior location. That might make racing mini-games a bit more complex.
  22. When it comes to licenses I could definitely see them adding more Waner Bros franchises to the line-up. I could see Harry Potter being added. And if Oz proves popular I could see them adding something like Willy Wonka to the mix.
  23. It looks pretty official to me, but it could be a great custom. Although I could see them wanting to reuse the head.
  24. I've missed seeing it twice now... Third times a charm I guess.
  25. Yeah, the torso bugs me. The color is right but the details are off. Oddly when I see that torso it doesn't really remind me of Harley Quinn. Her face printing was odd too, the eyes just looked weird. Well, the Nolan dark knight first appeared in a regular Batman set and the Beware the Batman variant of Batman also appeared in a comic set. So it's not strictly impossible for a movie version of a character to show up in a comic set. I'm guessing it all depends on what the owners of said characters are wanting Lego to do. Ultimately they may choose to put in a movie version if only to tie into the movie. More than Harley Quinn though I'm hoping for a movie version of Joker. Despite hating the tattoos I really like the overall look he has in Suicide Squad and I would be tremendously disappointed if he didn't make it into a set. Also it would just be odd to leave DC's most popular villain out of the sets. And it's not like they could do a new 52 version of him... At least I hope they wouldn't.
