  1. Printed baseplate or bricks. Sometimes I also use a blue baseplate with yellow plates.
  2. If the set belongs to my favorite themes (Town/Trains, Castle, Space, Pirates and Aquazone) that I collect and use in my dioramas I keep them. If not I use them for parts (with some exceptions of course). But I mostly buy parts in bulk or specific parts from Bricklink or Pick a Brick for my MOCs.
  3. Being on a stakeout in the Dark Forest is always a dangerous job. He knew about the risks when he signed up for the job. Glad to hear that you found the build funny.
  4. A remote location deep in the forest where stolen horses are repainted.
  5. Sometimes I just get inspired by something that I see during the day at work like a train or a bus and then when I get home I start building it. I also plan more ahead if I make my own designs from scratch like a fort for the Imperial Guards or a M-Tron spaceship. It starts with the thinking process and I imagine how I want it to look like. Then I like to make sketches on paper how it will look (sometimes I skip this if it is a very small MOC). Usually I start with very rough sketches and then gradually make them more detailed. I have paper with brick and plate sized squares that I can use if I want to make very detailed drawings. If I'm lucky I have all or most of the pieces I need but sometimes I need to make a Bricklink order. Sometimes I just want to relax when I'm building and then I just let my imagination flow freely and build something crazy. Most of by builds follow the design language used by Lego from the mid 80s to the mid 90s. The MOCs are usually additions to the existing Lego world and dioramas that I have, they are made up of a mix of real sets, MOCs and landscape.
  6. It would be interesting to see the same poll made in other sections of Eurobricks like Sci-Fi and Historic Themes or in the "General Lego Discussion" section and then compare the results. It would also be interesting to see what people predominantly interested in licensed themes like Harry Potter or Star Wars prefer.
  7. A landslide victory for yellow!
  8. I like the set in general but why did they change the iconic Wolfpack logo?
  9. I have voted for all of the pirate builds and many others. It's amazing to see how many possibilities there are to build different sets for the Pirate theme. I'd love to see them all as real sets.
  10. Thanks for the information. Then we can rule out TX as a code for review sets. Have you seen TX or T or X before?
  11. It looks great. I'd be so happy if modern minifigs would use classic smiley heads just like your minifig. Less is more when it comes to minifigs.
  12. Beautiful! This is one of the best builds currently on Lego Ideas.
  13. Do we know anyone here on Eurobricks that reviews set? Maybe we could ask that person about the codes on the review boxes?
  14. Maybe I used the wrong word but when I was an eight year old kid I would have considered Dreamz or Monkey Kid too "childish" because they look like toys made for five year olds and the colors doesn't help either.
  15. I grew up with late 80s and 90s Lego. But I also greatly admire older subthemes like Classic Space and Classic Castle. There is something special about sets from 1978 to 1998 that new sets doesn't have. They have that special Lego look and feel to them that the company lost in the late 90s. They simply feel magic and unique. They have that perfect mix of detail and playability and I believe that then the designers had more freedom to design without having to care too much about focus groups or Hollywood culture. Many new sets feel too commercial and are either too depressing with only dark colors like gray and black or have too bright colors and look childish like Monkey Kid or Dreamz. This is cool! This is not cool!
  16. That is a possibility. Then they could easily distinguish the review sets from the regular ones. The North American box for the set is also a bit different from the European/international one. Because of the set being a limited GWP I find it hard to believe that it would be assembled in two separate locations. I have also never before seen two letters in a factory code.
  17. My 40580 Blacktron Cruiser has the factory code O which is Billund, Denmark. I bought it from a German Ebay store. I recently watched a Youtube video from Jang's Lego Reviews about the Blacktron Cruiser and the code on his box is TX. I found this discussion about factory codes but they have no certain information about T or X or TX:
  18. Sets, never. MOC's if it makes a big difference.
  19. If I were you I'd buy old Pirate sets from Bricklink or Ebay.
  20. I agree. I don't like when people with strong ideological motivations try to censor or change toys or culture.
  21. This is a very beautiful build. I voted for it on Lego Ideas. I like that you have kept the original minifigures, that gives continuity between your build and the original sets.
  22. I prefer yellow. If I buy sets with flesh colored minifigs (which almost never happens) I change the heads and hands to yellow ones.
  23. I love this set. My parents bought it for me when I was a kid. It has the right amount of detail and playability. This set has something that new sets doesn't have, it is difficult to explain but sets from this era are special in some way, and it's not only nostalgia because I also get the same feeling with sets I didn't have as a kid and sets that are from before my childhood. I grew up with late 80s and 90s Lego. I also have the other pirate island in the end of the video. They are both on my shelf.
  24. I mainly build sets and MOCs that I like to display either alone or part of larger dioramas that create. I like to look at my collection and open hatches and canopies of spaceships or other sets and move minifigures and vehicles around. I also like to take pictures of sets and minifigures both indoors and outdoors. And of course I like to operate all of my trains and build new track layouts. If there's little to do at work I like to plan for future MOCs and dioramas either on paper or using the computer.
