Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That would be the perfect solution. I also believe it's quite unlikely to happen but who knows? The Lego Group moves in mysterious ways. Too early to tell but I hope the video means that new Space sets are on the horizon. -
Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

That was the only picture I had available. I prefer the one with the Imperial Soldier and the Classic Space astronaut although the forestwoman and the white ninja are very cool minifigs. The possibilities are endless because most of the work is printing the details on the minifigs so a wide variety of minifigs could be produced. -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
SpacePolice89 replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm not so sure about that because when I look at the Medieval Town Square at lego.com I can click a picture of the Medieval Blacksmith that says "Go medieval" and then I see a page with many historic sets including the Creator Medieval Castle and Lion Knights Castle under the same headline "Medieval LEGO Sets & Toys". -

They should bring back the vintage minifigure collection packs. It would be so nice to get brand new classic minifigs. -
[POLL] The Next BIG LEGO Pirates Contest
SpacePolice89 replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
"Distant Waters" sounds like a very interesting idea. I'd like to have the soldiers fight highwaymen or bandits in a Scandinavian setting. In my area (Hangö) in the 18th and early 19th centuries the local Swedish garrison had to fight against Russian ships that were raiding the coast and burning villages as well as rebellious farmers that lured ships too close to the rocky coastline and then plundered them. All this gives me lots of ideas. -
Cool! I still remember building the set on the living room floor. My dad bought it in a local store and gave it to me as a surprise and I loved it instantly. Back then I knew it as "Rymdpolisens Spaningsskepp" as it was called in the Swedish catalogs and that translates to "Space Police Scout Ship".

Is it just me or are the helmets different on the sides? Maybe it's a print on the head that makes it look that way or the angle of the picture?

The Space Police 1 officer is also my favorite. One of my first Space sets as a kid was 6886 Galactic Peace Keeper and since then that minifig has been my favorite. It is my favorite for several reasons, I like the design and colors of the minifig (especially the red visor) and also the subtheme in general. I have great memories of playing countless hours with that set and minifig and arresting many Blacktron and later Spyrius minifigs. Nowadays I like to build SP 1 MOCs to complement the official sets. I have so many minifigs that I like so it's difficult to name a single favorite but if I've have to choose one it's the Space Police 1 officer. Other minifigs that I like very much are the Imperial Guards and Soldiers, all the Futuron, M-Tron and Unitron minifigs, the Black Falcons, the Black Knights as well as the railroad workers from the 90s (the ones with striped torsos and also the later variant with a red vest and sunglasses).

Anyone still playing Lego Racers?
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
That would be great. I also still have my old Game Boy Color and the GBC version of Lego Racers but that version is not so good but still fun to play sometimes. Another game that is fun to play is the Lego Movie 2 video game, it has so many fun worlds to explore and so many minifigs that are playable, even Blacktron 1 and Classic Space. -

A great set that could easily be reintroduced is the 375/6075 Yellow Castle, most pieces are still made and those that are not could easily be replaced with similar modern parts. Only one critical part needs a new mold and that is the visor. It would be so cool to see this iconic set on shelves again. What do you think about it? -

I found this link to a website where supposedly you can play it online for free but I haven't tried myself because I can play it on my old computer https://arcadespot.com/game/lego-racers/ -
Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's basically the same thing. If you do not make any licensed themes for 50 years and then suddenly starts to make several it is a policy change. Before 1999 they only had in-house ideas because they chose to do so. Peter Eio was the one who introduced Licensed themes. The opposition from the executives proves that they had a no license policy or at least a strong conviction that in-house themes was the preferred solution. Only after Eio convinced Kjeld Kirk Christiansen licensed themes could be made. The gas station and Maersk sets are completely different, they are not comparable to licensed themes. "In North America, Eio was seeing a boom in licensed toys, and recognized the LEGO Group was not involved in the business of making sets based off of films or TV shows. Eio harbored concerns that LEGO would be left behind if they didn’t take some measures to adapt to this growing market" This has nothing to do with my personal opinions about licensed themes. It is just a fact that they were reluctant to make such themes before Peter Eio convinced Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen to accept licensed themes. Godtfred Kirk Christiansen was involved in the company until 1993 and passed away in 1995. He was even reluctant to accept the skeleton and did so only after changes to its arms and I believe that he wouldn't have accepted licensed themes but this part is only speculation from my part. -

Licensed themes as we know them today didn't exist before Lego Star Wars. It was because of their policy. This is not my opinion just information that is available. I recommend the article I linked earlier because it explains a lot how they changed their views regarding licensed themed in the late 90s. "For them, the very idea of LEGO Star Wars came into conflict with the company’s anti-violence stance and a tradition of developing ideas in-house" -

Yes, all that is true but I was referring to their policy towards external licenses at the time. They were not interested in them due to company policy until the late 90s. The article I linked in my previous post highlights the process that changed that. -

I believe not. Before the late 90s Lego was opposed to licensed themes, especially themes that contained the word war. This is from an article about the origins of Lego Star Wars "While the feeling at Lucasfilm was one of excitement, LEGO executives were less than enthusiastic. After Eio pitched his proposal, he remembered “their initial reaction to Star Wars was one of shock and horror that we would even suggest such a thing.” For them, the very idea of LEGO Star Wars came into conflict with the company’s anti-violence stance and a tradition of developing ideas in-house" They had a different vision about themes back then and did not pursue licenses due to company policy before Peter Eio convinced Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen to allow licensed themes "some executives were still dead set against against the idea. But then owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen ultimately intervened and gave LEGO Star Wars the go-ahead" https://www.brothers-brick.com/2019/04/09/the-story-behind-the-1999-launch-of-lego-star-wars-feature/ -

LUGNET lists all people that owns the set. Some of them also provide e-mail addresses so that you can contact them. https://guide.lugnet.com/set/mdata.cgi?q=699_1&v=o -
Every now and then I want to dust off my old PC and play the original Lego Racers. It's such a fun game and still very challenging, especially the time races against Veronica Voltage. I enjoy very much the tracks and all the extra builds that you see when racing. And the brick based power up system is so cool and so is also being able to drive Lego cars through those amazing landscapes based on the classic Lego themes. Anyone else still playing it?

Very symbolic and important MOC! In the future you can make a MOC about the defeat of the orcs. We all wait for that moment. In my community we collect money to buy all wheel drive pick up trucks, vans and SUVs. We've already donated 38 to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Sometimes it is just as simple as liking the old style more for aesthetic reasons and I prefer Lego's own factions instead of sets based on movies sometimes older than Classic Space.
