Pirates related photos from LEGOLAND Billund
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Pirates
This is what I bought at Lego House together with another version of Captain Redbeard that I bought in Legoland in the early 00s (maybe 2003 but I'm not sure) It came with a certificate that it has been built by a professional Lego model builder and the pieces are glued together. I know that the certificate is somewhere in my desk drawers but I have to look for it when I have more time. -

Which factory did your LEGO set come from?

I bought some three packs with minifigures that you assemble yourself at Legoland Billund. The boxes have GH as factory code. Is GH specific for Legoland or Lego stores? -

Thanks! I can warmly recommend the restaurant. Everything there is pirate themed, even the chairs. https://ostergaard-i.dk/legoland-holiday-village/ This photo is taken outside the restaurant -

The pirate boats was/is my favorite because of the fantastic builds. Every time I visit Legoland I take that ride several times just to look at the builds. -

Back then the Pirate Boats was my favorite ride (it still is by the way) and when the Dragon ride and the castle was brand new I went there a rainy day and there were minimal lines so I went probably six or seven times in a row. -

This is basically what I asked him. I also said it was a very cool and good looking build and that we were talking about it on Eurobricks. Thank you! Here are some more pictures: -

Keeping the design language and overall feel doesn't mean no development and innovation. The Galaxy Explorer and Lion Knights Castle are examples of that. Similar modern but simpler builds with new techniques could be used for regular in house themes. There are thousands of original themes MOCs using modern techniques that would be perfect as official sets. -

On the side of the table was the e-mail address of the builder Anders Flynder, maybe I should ask him about it? There was also this pirate balloon -

No. For example I bought McFarlane sports figures because they made figures for my favorite NHL team, not because I was a fan of McFarlane products. When the license switched to Imports Dragon I started buying their figures instead. I've never been a fan of either of the companies I just bought the figures because they had the NHL license and made NHL products because I am a fan of the Anaheim Ducks. If I had to choose between those two bad options I'd choose the first one but I believe there is a third and better option that I mentioned in my previous comment. -

LH is the Lego House in Billund. I can 100% confirm this because I saw the package being sealed and the package also says "Components made in Denmark". -
I've recently returned from a trip to Billund. I took photos of some interesting stuff there. The Imperial fort at the Pirate Boats ride has new bricks and looks great And some photos from Lego House And of course I always eat at the Pirates themed buffet restaurant at the Legoland Holiday Village. There is a huge diorama built by Anders Flynder at the entrance. Does anyone know who he is? What he has built there is truly amazing. This photo is also from inside the restaurant

I doubt that. Some are for sure but others buy just because of the license. Sorry for the late answer but I've been on a vacation to Billund. I'd like to see a return to the style of products and themes they had in the 80s and early 90s when they made a yearly stable profit from their own designs and themes. -

Bigger yes, but is it better? I think quality and design of regular sets were better in the 80s and early 90s. I'm also very worried about Lego having manufacturing, theme parks and significant sales in China because it looks that they've chosen the same path as Russia and companies that invested heavily in Russia took huge hits when the war started and it's only a matter of time before China goes on the warpath in the Pacific. On the positive side Lego manufactures most of the pieces locally in Europe and North America for those markets and that might soften the blow. -

The original minifigure themes made Lego insanely popular all around the world and proved that they had a winning concept. It was actually only after the financial difficulties in the late 90s and early 00s caused by junior-ization and product diversification that they had to resort to licenses to get quick money to be able to survive. I believe that the original themes and what they represent are far superior than the licensed products. Nowadays they cater mostly towards fans of different media franchises instead of fans of Lego. But all hope is not lost, every now and then we get great products like the new Galaxy Explorer and the Lion Knights Castle. -

I grew up as a fan of the original themes and therefore I find it very sad that they have been largely replaced by licensed movie products that I have very little interest in. While I like some of the movies the licensed sets are based on I have no interest in the licensed sets. I prefer to use my own imagination when it comes to characters and story and back in the 80s and 90s they provided the right amount of information about the different factions and left the rest to your own imagination. -

I also think there are too many licensed themes. I'd prefer a 80:20 ratio in favor of in house themes vs. licensed themes. -
Why? If they instead made a new version of the Blacktron Renegade it would at least have people that would buy it. Nobody will buy sets like this one and the heads looks like the FBI most wanted list.

Very beautiful landscape and bridge with a lot of details while still keeping that special Lego look and feel to it.

Is Mini Figure Customization Dead?
SpacePolice89 replied to Project Black Brick's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I can only speak for myself but I prefer the official minifigures and I don't like modifying and damaging minifigures. It has nothing to do with details because I prefer the more simple designs from the 80s and 90s. With so many themes and minifigs released since 1978 I guess there is almost some minifig for every occasion so maybe there is less need for customized ones nowadays? -

2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]

I voted for the Griffins. I wonder if the Kraken shield is designed by someone from Seattle? Their NHL team is named Kraken and teal is associated with Seattle. -

Thanks! I chose the same style of brick built horse as in the Yellow Castle because I'll buy that set someday (hopefully soon).
