  1. Thanks for the information and insight. It's interesting to see how they gradually repaired the damage caused by junior ization by introducing World City and then City. I only regained interest in new retail sets when they released the World City Trains.
  2. I believe junior ization was a major reason alongside product diversification for the financial troubles in the late 90s and early 00s. While other decisions like allowing licensed themes have been thoroughly documented and discussed there is very little information available about why they dumbed down especially Town sets around 1997. The sets before that used to be great and every kid in my town loved them. When junior ization started many kids lost interest in the Town theme. Why did they start junior ization? Was it to sell more sets to younger kids? The age recommendation for Town used to be 6-12 with some sets even being 8+ or 9+. Junior ized Town was 5-10 with catalogs even mentioning simplified sets for five year olds as the target audience. Any information about the subject is very appreciated.
  3. The City Space sets have a different look and aesthetics compared to the Space sets. The same way as Star Wars sets have their own look that is different from Space and City Space. Some of the vehicles have a strong resemblance to modern day space stuff although with a futuristic twist and the overall feel I get from City Space is not the same I get from the Space theme. It just doesn't feel as a Space faction. With all this being said there's absolutely nothing wrong with City Space and the sets are great in their own way, they just aren't meant as a replacement for the Space theme and that is why I believe they placed them under City. The Creator Castle is quite similar in style to mid to late 80s castles. With no current ongoing Castle, Space and Pirates themes they have to place those sets under Creator, Ideas and Icons and that also affects the look of the sets like the brick built sails and the size of the Medieval Blacksmith but all those sets are clearly recognizable as part of their respective themes and factions.
  4. I was about to write exactly the same thing and then I saw your post. I feel the same way about City Space. The sets are great in their own way but doesn't fit in with the overall Space theme and aesthetics while the Castle and Pirates sets fit in perfectly with their respective themes. That is probably why the City Space sets are placed under the City theme instead of Space.
  5. Buyable sets since 2020 Castle: Lion Knights Castle (Lion Knights), Creator Castle (Black Falcons), Medieval Blacksmith (Black Falcons) and Medieval Town Square (Lion Knights) 4 Pirates: Barracuda Bay (Pirates), Creator Pirate Ship (Pirates) and Eldorado Fortress (Imperial Soldiers) 3 Space: Galaxy Explorer (Classic Space) 1 Space needs more sets, even a Creator set would be great since the ones for Pirates and Castle have been really good. I really hope that we get another Space set next year.
  6. I'm very disappointed with the "year of space" because we didn't get any sets related to the Space theme. I find that very odd because Castle and Pirates have gotten several such sets and the Galaxy Explorer was released a couple of years ago. Another Space set like the Galaxy Explorer would've been perfect for the "year of space". I really liked the space CMFs, particularly the Blacktron 2, M-Tron and Ice Planet ones.
  7. The trans green windscreen looks great and so does this vehicle. Many of the new pieces are very suitable for Classic Space builds.
  8. In my opinion this is as good as it can get. Your fort is a perfect mixture of realism and that classic Lego look. And it includes a monkey, any good build needs at least one . Jag hoppas du vinner!
  9. Large Category (1) "Fort de Soleil" by -DoNe- (2) "Found Forbidden Fortune" by Thewatchman (3) "Escape from Cave Island" by Brendan McGnarley Small Category (1) "End of the Pier" by Elephant Knight (2) "The King's Merchant" by Marooned Marin (3) "International Society of Steve" by BrynnOfCastlegate
  10. It was partially covered in sand when I found it. I only saw the head and an arm before I removed it from the sand. It looked like it was buried there
  11. Several times I've found Lego pieces when walking on streets, beaches or in the woods. When I went to the beach last week I found a pink round 1x1 plate and then I thought that I should ask what you have found over the years. My favorite find is a skeleton that I found when I was a teenager (pictured below, it was missing one arm that I replaced). I've also found a brown rowing boat at the same beach a year later. Once around the year 2000 when my dad and I went for a drive with the car along some country roads we found some bricks from the Adventurers temple on the side of the road. On several occasions I've found smaller pieces. What have you found?
  12. Very cool build! Do you have any pictures from inside the tower?
  13. That would only lead to CCP controlled companies taking over the market and Lego having to close factories in Europe. I know that the Lego Group has its faults (especially prices but I rather pay more for stuff made in Europe) but in general they are not that bad. They give a lot back to the community through the Lego Foundation that owns 25% of the company. They have also given millions of dollars to Ukraine to help kids and left the russian market because of the invasion. Meanwhile the CCP companies are busy supplying the russian market and many of the Chinese bricks are probably made under dubious conditions. https://www.lego.com/en-mx/aboutus/news/2022/august/the-lego-foundation-donates-an-additional-us-13-6-million-to-support-ukrainian-children
  14. Australian history from from that era is also very interesting, especially James Cook's voyages.
  15. Thank you! I took great care when I placed the ship on the beach and cleaned it immediately afterwards. It was only there for a couple of minutes. The beach is located in Hangö, Finland, very close to my home. In the first picture a fort is visible in the upper middle part of the photo. In the 18th century the Hangö peninsula was an important outpost for the Royal Swedish Navy and many fortifications were built to defend against raiding russians. My ancestors moved to the area because of their service in the Royal Swedish Navy. Therefore this area is very special to me and perfect for taking pictures related to that era. The video below is filmed on the other side of the fort and is a reenactment of one of the many battles fought in the waters around Hangö. Me and my friends used to build forts with playing cards and hide minifigs inside them. Then we used the cannons to attack each others forts and the first who exposed all "enemy" minifigs won.
  16. Does this mean that there will be new Castle sets? I'm not a member of Twitter so I can't read the comments.
  17. I agree. Without the City subthemes we would have no such sets at all because Lego discontinued Space and Adventurers. We should all be happy that they exist. With that being said, I'd prefer a return of the Space and Adventurers themes but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon unfortunately.
  18. No. It's a real set. I just changed the head to a normal one and it came with some alien builds as well. https://brickset.com/sets/40715-1/Alien-Pack
  19. I believe it isn't all that bad. Before we had many years without any sets and now we've had several since 2020 and currently we have two available (Creator Pirate Ship and Eldorado Fortress).
  20. For me it started as a young kid when my parents bought me 6232 Renegade's Raft. My neighbor had 6265 Sabre Island and we played a lot with those sets. After that both me and my neighbor got more Pirates sets. I preferred the Imperials and he the pirates so we had very fun battles when we played with our sets.
  21. The earlier City sets had better colors and more realism. Many of the new ones are too gimmicky and have weird bright colors. With this being said some of the new sets are still very good like the new cargo ship.
  22. I believe they will not release a small island when they recently released the Scary Pirate Island GWP https://jaysbrickblog.com/news/lego-40597-scary-pirate-island-gwp-officially-revealed/
  23. Still no answer. I guess he doesn't use that e-mail address anymore.
  24. This is great. Being able to display all those fantastic sets at the same time is fantastic.
  25. There is one The flagship set of the "Year of Space". It is a very nice build and I like it very much but it's crazy that they introduce a concept like the "Year of Space" and then have "space" sets for all other themes except Space (Space only got the small set above).
