2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
SpacePolice89 replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I really hope that they have some sort of replacement set for the Creator Medieval Castle because it is the only Castle set that is readily available and in a price range that most families can afford. Castle needs more small sets as well. -
Today I got the flag by mail so I've been able to finish the Imperial fort from idea book 260. This is something I've wanted to build for a long time. I've had most of the parts as extras for for a while but I didn't want to remove the flag from my Eldorado Fortress or Lagoon Lock Up because of fear of damaging the clips and I also want to display all the sets together. I ordered the flag from the new Eldorado Fortress and it's almost the same as the old one. I really like how this set looks and I feel really happy to have a "new" set in my collection because I like the design and aesthetics of the early Pirates sets. It isn't 100% accurate because the wall panel on the right side is white with no printing and the palm tree is the smaller one. @CvS It's nice to hear that others are also building this beautiful fort. If you want to please feel free to post pictures of your version here when you have all the pieces.

Sponsored Lego reviews: Do you mind?
SpacePolice89 replied to Lego Mike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Why would someone else than the Lego company sponsor a review? Or did the youtuber review something else than Lego? -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
SpacePolice89 replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This gives me a lot of crazy ideas that should of course not be real sets. Imagine a bandit faction led by the evil sorcerer Trump and the main bad guy set would be "Trump Tower". An expansion pack could be called "Let's Build a Wall". Parts 30113 and 3626bp3j could be used for an evil shaman. -
The Aquazone landscape is truly amazing and the builds are awesome too. Aquazone is such a great theme and deserves more visibility. You are doing a great job!

If they made something similar to the original ships and fortresses today I'm certain it would sell very well. I think both kids and adults would appreciate such sets.
-
I also prefer regular sets and would love to see a full wave of sets but that seems unfortunately unrealistic nowadays and therefore something like a minifigure scale HMS Victory could be the only option to get a ship or Pirates related set. I doesn't have to be huge, just big enough to fit some minifigs. The original Eldorado Fortress is one of my favorite sets.
-
That's true but I try to avoid mainland Chinese/dictatorship products as much as possible but sometimes there are unfortunately no realistic alternatives as with the PS you mentioned (although those sold in Japan are made locally). I also use my phones as long as they work. I've used my last three phones until they stopped working. Sometimes I check Eurobricks on my phone but always when I write something I use my computer because I really dislike to type on touchscreens. I don't care how many planes they own or what they do with them. I'm a firm believer in personal freedom and therefore believe that people shouldn't try to force their lifestyles or ideologies on others. Lego sails are usually of very good quality so if they are easy to acquire from Pick a Brick or Bricklink I might use them for my own MOCs. And I also like the flag.
-
We must also remember that Lego is one of the few large toy companies that have manufacturing in Europe and will soon open a factory in the US. Most European sold sets are made with bricks mostly made in Billund and then packaged in the Czech Republic while almost all knockoff brand are made in mainland China and shipped to Europe or the US. Knockoff brands are cheap because the totalitarian regime in China doesn't allow unions and probably dumps their waste in some local river. That is one reason why I prefer to buy real Lego bricks and build my own ships if no suitable sets are available from Lego.
-
Instead of the Endurance ship they should've made some sort of large realistic minifigure scale ship like HMS Endeavour, HMS Victory or the real life Queen Anne's Revenge. Those ships would appeal to both fans of the Pirates theme as well as people that are interested in realistic Lego models and history.

I completely agree that creative adults and kids can use their imagination when building and playing within a licensed theme but I still think that unlicensed themes provides more creative freedom in both building and playing and stimulates the imagination more.
-
I believe that licensed themes require less imagination and creativity than classic themes such as Pirates and Space because all major characters are already named and the story is set if we talk about franchises such as Star Wars or Harry Potter. It is very much up to yourself to set the story and names if playing with Space or Pirates. With classic themes there is much more freedom when it comes to building and backstory because you don't have to follow someone else's rules and ideas when building or playing. This of course only applies if you build or play within the world of a particular theme, it is equally possible to use pieces from licensed and unlicensed sets to make all kinds of random fantasy builds.

I ordered some large imperial flags a month ago and they shipped them today. When I ordered the 6x4 imperial flag was listed as standard but now it is a bestseller piece. Have they moved the flags to Poland?
-
Now is the last chance to make M-Tron MOCs with new trans neon green pieces because five different pieces are still available on pick a brick. I ordered some of them myself but the order is stuck at the warehouse because they are moving all pick a brick pieces to Poland. https://www.lego.com/en-gb/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?color=49

What is your favorite Space set? (One only!)
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
That is a very beautiful set! I agree that choosing only one is difficult. At first I thought about asking people about their favorite sets but then I realized that I would myself list at least 10-15 sets if asked that question and therefore settled for only one single set. -
I can't remember where but I have seen some chart with their yearly profit for every year during the 90s and it is very clear that the problems started in the mid 90s with sudden and sharp drops. In the 80s and early 90s they had very healthy economy and even rewarded designers for using pieces across themes. Then they started producing too many specific pieces and color variations.

I prefer to complete my collection with old official sets from Bricklink and Ebay and buy the occasional new sets that I like such as the new Galaxy Explorer. I still like the Lego company but they lose a lot of sales when they only do Hollywood stuff nowadays and almost nothing for people like us that grew up with the original themes. I believe it is no coincidence that they started to lose money the year after they junior-ized Town. During those years they also discontinued Pirates and made really bad Space and Castle sets. They also invested too much money in a lot of different products like clothing and computer games during those years as well as having too many specialized parts. It is sad that they had to sell their soul to Hollywood to be able to survive. They had a working and profitable concept with the original themes which they should not have messed with.

What is your favorite Space set? (One only!)
SpacePolice89 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
An excellent choice! You can see the Space Police Striker in the background in my picture (with the lights on). I think Benny's Spaceship is definitely a Space set because of the color scheme/style and the fact that Benny is a classic spaceman. -
Mine is 6886 Galactic Peace Keeper. It is my favorite for both objective and nostalgic reason, It was one of my first Space sets I got as a kid (back then I only knew it as "Rymdpolisens Spaningsskepp" from the Swedish catalogs), I was then very young, probably below the recommended age limit but I preferred Lego over Duplo. My dad bought me this set and we built it together on the living room floor. I love the design of the ship and the colors and the minifigs are fantastic. It can be seen in the picture below in the lower left corner parked under the monorail.
