Have you ever found Lego pieces outdoors?
Autumn replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
About a year ago I found a 1x1 round plate in trans light blue at a library. When I was child I found a blue one of these on the street: -
The foundation looks a lot nicer like you would expect from a proper lighthouse. But I agree the water needs some more detail now.

Reminds me of Robinson Crusoe for sure. I like the story and their water craft. Some of the smaller features like the half buried chest and the rock pillar sticking out of the water are also nice touches. One thing is the vines are a little odd being placed horizontally like that, it makes me feel like they are floating underwater in a coral reef, I think it might look better if they were positioned to be hanging down.

I'm not too familiar with Transformers but it looks really good. It must be difficult designing both forms together.

I quite like this! You've done very well at capturing the classic throwback look like some of the modern sets have. I like how you can remove each level to get inside too. I agree that there could be a bit more detail than just plain flat walls to make it a little more interesting to look at. Some more colour might be nice but I think you could still keep it a clean white if you'd like just by embossing it with some different elements to give some variance. The base could be a little wider as well, being the almost exactly the same width as the lighthouse makes it too straight and doesn't give our eyes much to look at, especially when the door opens up straight onto the ocean. Make it a few studs wider on each side to make it look like the lighthouse is built on a strong and solid foundation.

[ENTRY] [LARGE] Caught by the Armada Coast Guard

Well I learned something new today! Bonus points for taking inspiration from something somewhat obscure. -
I don't think it would hurt to leave it as is but I can see their point about the bottom row.

Those are some nice ships, I especially like the larger one and how you made the hull. Honestly can't find anything to critique here. The angles and curves all look very meticulous. I also like how you did the mast and bowsprit together, it gives the mast a neat angle even if it is not realistic. -
No, it's fine. The gap doesn't bother me at all, personally.

You're welcome! Had a feeling that was the case. Well, I can visualise it in my head at least. -
Ooh, I quite like the islanders' sail on it! It's a tough one, really. Your first version looks like something from a licensed set but this one looks more like an original Lego theme with the sail and yellow skin tones. I agree with Horation that it's a little odd being sideways but that is still my preference. One technical thing I'm not keen on is using hinges for the boom. I know it's just a moc but in a real set it is still likely to move about especially as with use over time which could damage the sail. I would replace it with an angled technic connector (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32192#T=P) for added stability and longevity.

That's much better, I like it a lot! I hadn't anticipated the small gap but it's still not so large as to be distracting.

I was thinking that too, but I don't know if you remember I said earlier you could try creating a small dip at one end (not so deep that it's underground!) so the step isn't so big at the other end.

Oh, I see. I overlooked that. -

Does this not count? -
This is a fun creation! Literally going right under the guard's nose! I really like how you did the cutaway and have three different but connected scenes going on.

Is the coral frog a status symbol? Asking for a friend.

I thought the back- and foregrounds were digital at first. The way you did it is probably how TLG would have back in the day as well. -
[POLL] Which Prizes Do You Find Most Enticing?
Autumn replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
So if the 2x prizes for €50 and €100 are split between or builders and critics, and both critics prizes have been claimed what about the x4 €25? That would mean x2 for critics and BardDandelion has claimed his. Who gets the other? -
The wall definitely looks better, but I still think the market stall should be level too. The added apple helps as well. You could add more fruit if you felt the need to.

This is what I thought too, I was sure it says that in this thread: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/announcement/75-challenges-round-2-have-begun-win-lego-sets/ I was aiming for 50. Am I too late for 25 as well? -

I can't find a whole lot to critique in this small and simple build. I can really feel the atmosphere and I like the way you convey a sense of action and motion with the way Steve is posed and the placement of the bottle. I think a little more colour wouldn't be a bad idea though. It's very brown and yellow (like the 70s). A little bit of blue or green would look good in my opinion. Like changing the bottle to green or swapping someone's torso out for a blue one or putting a flag or emblem hanging off a wall. -
Your updated version is far superior in every way. It's like a remake of your own creation. The abandonment and decay and of the building is presented very well and with nature taking it back (until someone came along). It gives me a strong Robinson Crusoe kind of vibe. So many impressive little details! I'm honestly struggling to find something to fault! I guess I'll just agree that some curved slopes around the shore would work better. Well done!

That's also an idea! I was thinking of the Bonsai Tree which does both of these quite ingeniously and rather simply.
