  1. Yeah, but marketting doesn't consider that a strength towards a LOTR based playset, it would only be cause to create more LOTR themed Brickheadz because it's selling strong. Just like buying more Nexo Knights wouldn't necessarily give Lego the message that people want the Castle brand back in full force. Castle (and Classic Space) lucked out that they even offered to have a poll for their 90th anniversary, otherwise any 'Castle-related' or 'Space-related' purchases would have continued to get swept under their radar.
  2. Fantastic build! I love the head especially, you nailed the vampire bat look!
  3. I recently got the Wolf guy. Tried to fit his parts into my current displays. I think the tail really adds some personality to my Fright Knight Werewolf trooper. I'm trying to use the headpiece as a Wolfpelt helm for my Wolfpack leader. I'm not entirely sold on the cartoony look and the lighter blue shade of the gray, but it might grow on me.
  4. I really like this moc! Very full of life. I especially like the rounded parapet
  5. Even though I hadn't planned on getting this set for a while, I ended up sitting on 2 of em. Not sure if I'm gonna open the second one quite yet, and the first one is only partially built (got it second hand with half still bagged). Been doing a lot of moving so I have no room for this castle at all, but seeing some of these 2X/Expanded mocs makes me want to consider keeping and building both together.
  6. Blacktron Renegade was the first set I ever got, so this is super nostalgic for me. Stickers are a dealbreaker though, and I've lost all interest in this...
  7. Really love the style! Great mix of new and old, and I think it captures the feeling of the classics in a more modern look. Love the integration of the classic baseplates, I really wish those came back in some form.
  8. Forestmen shields never really irked me, but in retrospect the Wolfpack torsos bug me. I love the emblem and I love the classic torsos, don't get me wrong. They're supposed to be bandits, yet they're all wearing would-be tabards with their logos emblazoned on them. I don't see this working for a modernized Wolf Pack revival.
  9. I was making my Blacktron 2 MOC for the contest. Got a fair ways into it with some Ninjago parts, then I realized they were the wrong shade of trans neon green.. I'd love to see more of the classic shades appear in more modern sets. Maybe I'm just missing out on the major ones, but it looks to me a lot of Ninjago stuff doesn't make much use of the old Classic Space trans neon colors.
  10. I think this pretty much nails where we sit on this topic. I come at this from a builder's perspective (while also being a collector), and it's very clear the entire Bricklink Designer system is built around collecting and investment, due to the limited production and exclusivity. I can't say I'm enthused by having to compete with others globally in a Black Friday style exclusive purchase that sells out within minutes/hours of release. All the sets are made with builders and enthusiasts in mind. We have another avenue for more Castle theme, and it's gated because of the nature of all Bricklink Designs being exclusive collector sets with a very limited global run. I think it sucks potentially missing out on a theme that is already quite limited. These sets go directly into the after-market on release.
  11. Just my opinion, but I don't think they necessarily need to get fancy with the packaging other than making a custom box. The rest shouldn't be any different 'packing on demand' than literally ordering every PAB part online. Now, I'm not sure the exact relationship between Lego and Bricklink on how this is done, but I feel like it could be/should be streamlined to the point where these sets would literally be an extension of PAB with a custom box. The infrastructure for the entire system is already available, the only difference being the box and delivery system being done through Bricklink rather than Lego direct. I totally relate to this. I like to download instructions of the sets I like just to see the techniques and see if I can recreate it with what I have. That usually gets me going down a bricklink rabbit hole
  12. Yep, this too. The limited productions just make these sets a collector's item with growing after-market value more than anything. Not very ideal for enthusiasts who actually intend to build the damn things. I mean it's not like they can't produce enough gray bricks for the castle in the forest, I don't know why it needs to be limited worldwide release. They could literally just have it on queue and send out orders based on whoever orders em, since all the bricks are gonna be sourced straight from Lego anyways.
  13. It'll be a hard sell for me if they don't get the benefit of Lego backing em with custom prints. It's all about the minifgs and accessories for me. Like I'd love to see some throwback Wolfpack or Black Knight builds up there, but without the right parts that really set them apart, it'd just feel like the Medieval 3-in1 having minifigs with pirate torsos or the sad excuse of the wizard in the new Lion Knights castle.
  14. I need that weapons pack, lol. Looks like it'll be a pricy after-market bag if they ever go on market. I wonder if they'll go up on PAB....
  15. Don't know yet but considering the amount of rumored minifigs it will have, I doubt it would be micro-scale.
  16. https://www.lego.com/en-ca/product/queer-eye-the-fab-5-loft-10291 Kind of a odd question, but what do people think of the Fab 5 set that's been on discount for months now? It looks like a decent source for white and gray bricks, and overall the price is good per-piece. Not much else to it though. I'm not sure if it'd be better just to get the bricks off PAB or Brickowl/Bricklink instead. Thoughts?
  17. Just asking for clarification since it isn't covered in the rules - Does this contest entry need to use 100% Lego pieces? Nothing custom or non-Lego brick, correct?
  18. I think there needs to be a more indepth understanding on how marketting works and how Lego prioritizes their liscencing and release strategy to really get what we're trying to say here. It's not whether these franchises deserve to be made into a full wave or not, it's whether Lego deems there to be a broad and signficant audience to tap into for the investment they're putting into it. Cuz even stuff like people saying bringing back Castle would make truckloads of money, it's only really a case of people saying what they think would do well without the understanding of the data and whether Lego would agree. So just thinking LOTR has a large age range might not be as true to Lego, who actually have the data on how well the sets sold. And if it's not continued the way the Harry Potter lineup has been selling, then I can see the reality being that LOTR simply has a more niche (yet very dedicated) audience that Lego may not consider worth dedicating a full wave to, much like how they're treating classic Castle. To be honest, I felt the same way about the recent Stranger Things products they gave us this year. I really expected a Starcourt Mall or some other big set, but all we got was the Brickheadz and a Demogorgon Keychain.
  19. Just still seems odd to me since they were still using the original Rampant Lion logo in 2019 for the new shield That and the Forestmen logo kept pretty closely to the original design, to the point where I wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference. I was just wondering why they wouldn't just use something very similar to the original design even if the copyrights went out, as I kind of doubt they went out of their way to copyright the new stuff just for the one-off Castle set. I don't mind the new design at all, I just found it curious they went out of their way to update it so drastically.
  20. I think they realize it, but know the market is smaller than what they can make if they pushed out product that hits a wider, established market like Ninjago, Harry Potter and Marvel. I mean I wouldn't even consider the Icons brand to be 'regular sets' with plenty of minifigures, and that's also quite niche in stores.
  21. Really happy we're gonna see an original Mr. Tang (Tang Sanzang) in the upcoming set. I've been collecting the sets and minis that have been more true to the original story, even making a custom mini out of Roadhog as my Pigsy. I'm not too interested in getting the full set, but hopefully the hat and the body parts will be available on PAB, like much of the other Monkie Kid parts got. I already pick up the 6 ears headpiece for my Flower Fruit Mountain Macacque.
  22. So I was checking up this youtuber, and one of the guys mentions something interesting about the Castle faction logo copyrights. They just touch on why they changed the logos, but don't really go in deep about why they couldn't use the originals. @ 03:25 Just wondering if anyone here would have any more insight into this. I thought it was an interesting tidbit.
  23. I voted for Dragon's Keep, and thinking back on it, I did end up picking it because of the minifig lineup The minifig options will really influence my interest here. I'm not really moved by the brick built dragon or the beholder, I have more than enough brickbuilt dragons from other series, like Ninjago and Harry Potter.
  24. Vidyo's Metal Dragon works perfect for that in Minifigure form too
  25. The LOTR sets came out when I was in my dark ages. I feel like it's a bit late for me to even start going down this rabbit hole. But I definitely may consider if they came out with updated and modernized versions of their older sets to go along with the new sets they're planning. It sure worked with the Forest Hideout piquing my interest for the Lion Knight's Castle.
