Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
Stuartn replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I noticed 60026 is missing from that list, even Bricklinking the building parts, which aren't too uncommon, would be great way to bring in a corner building, which is very detailed (the bike shop's floor is even tiled). -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I don't think it has, but its a very good point, since they are the same person. -
To be rational, bionicle accounts for about 12% of the vote, more than any other theme, but that means 88% of people wont want bionicle, and I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the 10 pages of what is largely bickering about bionicle on this forum is a good indicator no system fan who doesn't get their system theme into the second vote will vote bionicle over the other two system themes. That means that even if the system vote is divided over the two themes competing with bionicle, there will be four to five times the amount voting over bionicle, so bionicle hasn't got a chance anyway. I don't want to mini-mod, but lets stop arguing about bionicle.
-
Regardless of whether it is or isn't (I agree its different) it shouldn't really count anyway since this survey is about bringing back one of Lego's themes.

The AD60 would be a great train to be done, due to the fact that although it has 8 driving axles, it can be easily changed using the floating wheels and the fact that it is a garratt would allow it to articulate. Though it is one of largest steam locomotives ever made, it may not be iconic enough to be made into a set, and probably never will be. While I agree only teh most well known and iconic trains are made, I wish that some more obscure trains with better aesthetics would be picked as inspiration for sets. I think that provided it is a real train, and with the limited amount of train sets produced, any train would appeal to consumers and would sell well.
-
I think provided that a space or castle theme make it to the top three, bionicle would be beaten. I am unsure why bionicle is extremely controversial in the first place. I don't want it, based on personal preference, but I am no more against it than spyrius, forestmen or any of the themes in the survey that I wouldn't want as a first preference. I get bionicle is very different because its not system lego, but surely its lack of appeal to some is no more jarring than the lack of appeal of other themes people do not want, say aquazone to a castle fan, or M tron to a train fan. I get that the reason may be that bionicle wouldn't be useful to some people, whereas system sets might be, regardless of what you actually want, but surely that is not an incentive to criticise bionicle over other themes with the same personal drawbacks. The only other reason is that the complex storyline of bionicle would be difficult to re-establish, and to create appeal for AFOLs who weren't into it to start with, but surely this is similar to many other obscure themes. I am very unsure why I just typed four paragraphs defending bionicle when I really don't want it, but I say good luck to whichever theme wins!

I agree it would be a good colour match, though I cannot see TLG including references to the movie, especially to the drowning scenes. The closest that TLG has ever come to depicting death is the choking Raymus Antilles figure from 2008, and it would be stretch to compare the gravity of SW with the titanic. Licencing agreements would also be an issue, and regardless of how it is presented, depicting the drowning even of fictional characters would cause a lot of controversy, which I think TLG would ironically rather avoid.

The worst thing with those henchmen is that in the movie they always wore a helmet, and there were two different prints. When it comes to arm printing, I will reserve my judgement until I see the figures. I think some figures really shouldn't have it (the imperial technician from the UCS ISD for example), while some minifigures in the past should have had it and didn't (like the mimban stormtrooper). I think though it is a step backwards for Vader to have had it then to not have it, same for recent figures like Greedo. -
Advice for building a "bottle cap" shape?

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=64566&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 This part might help, using two of them offset, with 1x2 tiles in teh clips might create that outside shape. The difficult part would be using SNOT pieces to fill in the sides. This part https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=6177&idColor=86#T=C&C=86 would be a good top as it should cover the aforementioned piece entirely, and the studs could represent the bumps in your image. It would partially overlap the 1x2 tiles I mentioned, which could improve the proportions.- 4 replies

If there isn't a small 4-wide helicopter in one set this year, I'd be extremely surprised. -
They're incredible builds, my favourite is the shopping centre, with the perfect balance between colour and darker areas. The stadium seating works incredibly well, as does the snot techniques for the windows on the other builds.
-
That's an incredible build, the trees are fantastic. There is a perfect balance between the barer areas and the thick scrub. The use of 1x1 translucent green round bricks is a genius idea for water.

I don't think Lego really have a problem with depicting historical tragedies or violent deaths: the colosseum wasn't exactly used to host Roman Empire tea parties. But I do get the point: anyone for a Lego set of the Titanic, it can break apart and you can have family fun depicting the drowning deaths of predominantly poorer people, who weren't given priority to the limited number of lifeboats? Hmmm, not sure. Well that might be the GWP. In seriousness, I agree with @Fuppylodders, the iceberg isn't necessary and would make it feel like a playset almost, and it would be mocking the titanic. I agree completely. What I don't understand though is why they didn't pick one of the thousand of other aesthetically pleasing ships in the world that aren't associated with sinking. An accurately detailed display model which is marketed tastefully certainly shouldn't cause controversy or offence, but why not avoid the controversy altogether and have a different ship. TLG's line of accurate ships is, well . . . non-existent, outside of Maersk, so surely it would sell well.

That would be a good idea. An 8x16 plate would be good, and if it could taper up at one end via a conversion piece to connect with regular train tracks it could be very useful. I hope though if a bendy bus is ever produced TLG decide to go all out and create some sort of piece which is flexible, like the plastic material used in the Mars Mission and Racers air pumps. It would be a lot of effort but it would have so many uses in the future, on trams, trains and any sort of articulated vehicle.
-
I would like to see some more versions of 8404 Public Transport, in the same way that the City Centre sets are updated regularly. Ideas could be: -A tram and a bus, with road plates, including a road plate that bulges to 24 studs wide to accommodate an 8 stud wide studded section, upon which there is a small platform for the bus/tram station, and another small kiosk where tickets are purchased. -A large ferry, on a new dark green floating base, similar in size to the recent police boat but with a less streamlined shape. Also included is a small 6 stud wide water taxi. Road plates connect to a wharf, which is covered with a kiosk and ticket buying station. -Monorail, six studs wide, but on the new rollercoaster tracks to be more realistic, it includes two stations, one elevated and one at ground level, with some road plates included, and a taxi. -Municipal vehicles, a street sweeper, garbage truck, tram/bus/monorail maintenance vehicle and a depot area, as well as a bus stop as a tie in with others sets, adjoining road plates.

I think that Town and Trains will get a lot of votes due to the fact that are still around and occupy a prominent position in TLG's product line. This gives them more exposure and familiarity to those newer to Lego, and many older fans will still want tehse sets due to personal preference. I know it does defeat the purpose of the poll, and it is especially odd since some themes, such as Ninja, have been removed from the list, assumingly because of the existing Ninjago sets. Edit: I actually put in the preferred subtheme box in the poll 'monorail'. I know it won't happen, but no harm trying!

I cannot speak for @Brikkyy13, but personally I don't begrudge North American buyers getting the set. I don't mind convention exclusives, since for only a very small handful of people in the convention area is it easy to get the set. The problem is that with Star Wars sets, Australian consumers are practically ignored. On S@H, the Star Wars section has 6 pages of products in the US, and only 4 in Australia. Some of these sets are only available at Australia's (very) limited number of Lego stores, are discontinued here or are just not available here at all. The Bespin Duel and Nebulon B are just some example of a percentage of Lego SW consumers being given much better treatment than others. Australia is one of the biggest countries by landmass in the world, with a comparatively small and widely distributed population, so I don't mind not being able to access all sets for as long as other countries' consumers, and SW is only a small part of Lego's product range, but something to make Australian (and European, Asian, African and South American) consumers feel valued would be a nice change. Likewise, North America is probably one of the largest consumer bases for Lego SW and they deserve to access exclusives and whatnot. -

Already put three road plates sets in. Using theme mainly for a carpark, something the old plates, or regular tiles, could never achieve. I'm hoping its two for some new animal moulds, but 1 would probably be more likely, a) because moulds such as a lion already exist, and b) because anything with the slightest connotation of policing will be what Lego go for! Either I would be happy with though. -
That's an amazing build. Can it be taken apart easily for transportation?
-
I have been building since the mid 2000s and that was my exact vote too
-
They're all incredible builds, I recognise the AT DT, FO AT ST and the AT AT, but what is the smaller walker, it is a great MOC regardless. In my opinion, both your AT AT and AT DT, and of course the AT ST are some of the best versions of these vehicles I have ever seen.
-
That's a great moc, love the smooth surfaces and it is a good scale to accommodate UCS and system sets. Are you intending on making a base for this moc, it is great as it is though! How well scaled is it with the current system AT AT?

I am thinking of it, I might try and modify it into some sort of a support vehicle, rather than a prisoner transport, if I do get it. -
I know the figures weren't that good, but fifteen years on maybe TLG can improve them. They did a much better job with the hero factory figures, so improvements can and should happen.
